@a2r1v1i2s One more thing, i calculated that i have been drinking nonstop for 9 years, those 6 last years was about 12 to 16 beers every day or every other day, on empty stomach and i would rearly eat and i didint even have hangovers anymore, and the symptoms didint begin immidietly for me but 1½ week later of being sober.
@a2r1v1i2s 35+ days now and feeling better but far away from 100%, talked to the local AA and they said that withdrawal symptoms can last from 3 to 12 months. I just want to wish everyone out there good luck and just hang in there. You can do it!
alcohol withdrawal SUCKS. my anxiety, sweating, dehydration, heart palpations, shakes etc. were so bad yesterday. I was in line at cvs to get some nyquil to help ease the effects and hopefully help me sleep and the line was taking forever. I had a panic attack, was literally sweating through my clothes, I'm sure I made no sense at the register. It got worse so later on I bought a 40 of beer and drank half it helped and I'm feeling better, just started day 3 sober. I was at a 5th a vodka a day.
@a2r1v1i2s I feel you. Im sitting here now 20+ days sober after 6 years of drinking and im having horrible Withdrawal Symptoms. Sometimes i wake up and im shaking, freezing and dizzy. Now it feels like my head is about to explode...
This is what I was researching to read before. I started to have this symtoms 3 years ago I felt the seisures in my mind and body I though I was dying, it always happened after stopping drinking for 5 to 20 days, than I stopped drinking for almost 2.5 years, but i disided to drink again and went to the same things, Withdrawls zisures are criminal so now I'm in my 5th month without a drink.
best way to deal with it is just slowing down the way you drink until you dont need it anymore i'm doing it and its working dont go cold turkey just slow down until u are safe to let it go it works!!
I've had the withdrawals and I thought I was gonna drop dead!! My heart was beating fast, my chest was tight, i couldn't sit still for 2 seconds, man it's just not worth it, I'm quitting drinking!!!
I believe that I am beginning to get withdrawals. I don't really get the shakes, however, I get very depressed and anxious the following day after a night of partying. I feel like the world's coming to an end and lose all ambition for like 2 days. Does this happen to anyone else?
Alcohol withdrawal can be a total nightmare. All the physical symptoms mixed with insomnia, Anxiety and panic attacks are not fun in any form. The post below mentions the difference of taking pills and just drinking more to try and feel normal. The taper down process has been the most effective since the dawn of light. However the way to change and correct the problem is to replace the things that your body is losing while drinking and correcting your mindset. Get the vitamins, fats, carbs, etc~D
I am alcohol dependent and I went to see my doctor today and he gave me some tablets which are Chlordiazepoxide. I took 2 tablets and they didn't do a thing, all they did was make me feel a bit light-headed and a bit unsteady on my feet. Also, I noticed my heartrate slowed down and my breathing slowed down and I thought my breathing was going to stop. So, I had to go to the shop and buy another bottle of wine and this is the only thing that has calmed me down all day.

ive been there, i drank almost everyday for 8 years, and then quit cold turkey.., it was horrible , sweating, fever, sleeplesness, nausia, nightmares..not fun
I sat on the toilet with my shorts still on. "Crap? Piss? Puke? Water? Lay Down? A/C?" I sat there dripping sweat trying to decide what I needed to do, then finally just passed out on the tiled floor until I gained control of my mind. Every sound I heard freaked me out. A drip. A creak. The fridge. I've come to the conclusion that I've had my 'fun' with alcohol and my body can't take it anymore. From this point, it's either continue drinking, or quit. No middle ground.
I had my worst withdrawal symptom ever just recently. I've drank on avg. 4 cases a week for the past 8 years. I skipped 3 drinking sessions by staying sober for 6 days, then I bought a case. I felt like I literally needed it. The next morning, I snapped awake in my bed w/ no idea where I was, what was going on or what to think. Sweat literally poured down my face. I barely made it down the stairs to the restroom. I could see, but things weren't registering.
To all who are trying to kick alcohol hang in there. Its hard but with inner strength you can co it. I used to drink a minimum of a case of beer daily for 6 years. I stopped cold Turkey and went through many of these symptoms you guys are going through. One thing that helped me was getting excercise and sitting in a steam room at the gym. It speeds up the process of alcohol leaving your body.
I've been drinkin heavily for the past 5 yrs and drinking regulary for total of 10yrs. 3 yrs ago I drank a 1/3 to 1/2 ga. vodka every night for 4 months...then I got scared starting hallucinating and didnt sleep for up to 3 days 4 days but kept working, when I stopped after that 4 mths I literally went out of my mind. It took about a month to feel normal then I moved. Got to a better place. Still Drink but not that heavily or often. Sending prayers to the rest of you with your addictions.
dude this is what I am going threw exactly right now....the dt's went away after a day ....but the anxiety, sleeplessness and visual hallucinations are still here.Plus I can't eat....it sucks
the hallucinations from alcohol w/d are terrifying. it's not like being high, it's like being in hell.
the one episode of w/d's i had, literally scary faces, crawling bugs/rats, snakes, etc any time you close your eyes. you cannot sleep but for ten mins at a time, and those short periods are marred with nightmares that seem very real. and you wake up in a pool of sweat with a racing heart.
and it repeats over and over again, you get maybe an hour of horrible sleep at the most.
@broadcastmyass4u: It's like nothing you can imagine. It's not fun like acid. It's more like "I just died, and now I have to fight my way out of hell". I hope you never have to go through it.
its hard for an alcoholic to do, but have you tried weaning off?
ive gone through wd's twice. when i stopped cold turkey, i wasnt even too worried about w/d because i figured it would just go away. into day 3 i was in hell.
the second time, i was determined to stop drinking and would take about an ounce or two of hard liquor every hour the first day, then every 2 hours the second, etc. if you are very strict about it, it will make w/d tolerable and last much shorter if you gradually slow down.
damn, some of the withdrawals on here are crazy...it's my first day w/o alcohol and im terriffed....i cant stop sweating, i feel like i cant breathe-just really horrible anxiety is this normal>>?
Yeup that sounds like something that would come from alcohol withdrawals..i know thats a fact.ive went through them...but i believe its based on how hard u where drinking and for how long and just suddenly stop...it can be alot worse then that trust me...as of now i think the last time i drank was like december 17th, its january 8th 1:43 am right now..if u gonna just stop suddenly make sure u got a comfortable room or place ..where there is very lil noise and dimmed light or none
it's been a month since your comment and i hope you're doing better by now, but i'm not sure what you meant by 'normal.' you're experience was caused by alcohol withdrawal, and though those symptoms are typical, they are not normal.
the thing to do when you have w/d anxiety/panic is to seek proper treatment. a doctor can prescribe sedatives/anxiolytics that you can take for a few days to ease withdrawal. cold turkey can not only be really bad, but can last much longer without the proper detox
Got an ambulance intervention today, Bp 160/110, severe anxiety (thought I was about to die) and tremors. Got a shot of diazepam, slept a few hours, now I'm starting to panic again. At least I know I most propably wont die just today. But if I start drinking again, I know its just a matter of time.
went to the hospital last night..bp was 178/108....liver enzymes were high but not hepetitus. have bad dt's....severe..... day 2. no more drinking 4 me!

@juststl depends how bad it is. If you're having a seizure then hospital, but otherwise just get some meds from your doctor to deal with it.
