Yeah, though Disney songs are most rhymed in English, only Tarzan and Pocahontas are really English tales! Stories like Aladdin, Mulan, beauty and the beast, the little mermaid, and Tangled still sound the best in their original languages! @chubbysenator Usually Disney characters that have a French accent in the English versions have an Italian or Spanish accent. It might also be a regional accent, maybe Marseilles, I'm not from France so I'm not sure.

@phoenixsprite You're right. But here, it's not an accent from Marseille, it's the way to sing by the old parisians singers as Charles Trenet, Edith Piaf or Yves Montand (they rolled the r's). Actually, I think Lumière is a caricature of Yves Montand : seducer, same way to sing, dance, play with his hat etc...

I wonder why in some versions they didn't include the sound effects like bottle rolling or the cups and dishes clacking against the table or ground. The Italian and French versions have them, but the German version his just the singing and instrumental, no sound effects.

That's probably due to the uploader using the soundtrack's version of the song (which lacks sound effects) rather than the song from the movie itself. They most likely had the movie clip in another language and replaced the original audio with the new song from the soundtrack.

I don't know if this is simply the quality of this video (though I've seen other clips of the French version and they all seem to suffer from this), but the vocal track is constantly getting overpowered by the music/ sound effect track.

This is especially noticable with Lumiere and Cogsworth, who both have very distinct (and powerful) voices in the original English, but they are just barely noticeable in French. It doesn't help that I do not care for the voices of most of the servants.

That happens a lot with translated versions of Disney songs: they keep the same music and often amplify it, while the new voice actors dub over it. As a result, oft times the music is clearer and louder in translated versions than in the original (for example, listen to the Japanese version of A Friend Like Me), which is nice if the song you're listening to has a really good instrumental background.
