George knows how to shred the fretboard, while keeping the solo extremely melodic and in keeping with the flow of the song. So many guys today are just into speed, without any concern of the direction of the song. George doesn't just play guitar, he's a true musician.

He was featured regularly in the major guitar magazines in lengthy articles in which his techniques and style were explained.

Metal guitarists and actually, all guitarists, always suit being slightly effeminete, they somehow make it cool, unlike drummers who must be rough tough guys, ha ha!

@MAGNUM121570 This is a custom made ESP with an all maple body, maple quilt top, and I believe seymour duncan Cool Rails single's and TB-6 'bucker. Also had an ebony fretboard and Original Floyd Rose. I spoke to George at a clinic a while back and he said the guitar was stolen years ago. ESP has made a limited run of this exact guitar a couple times. that's why you never see it in his studio tours. His amp in this video I think was an SLO100 Soldano. SMOKING amp!
I am a Jazz guy, but I was born and raised in the 80s-90s., so i also loved metal as a kid. I like really fast eruptions, but I wouldnt consider myself as an shred-fan! most guys just repeat a phrase in a ultra fast tempo. thats impressive, but a fast playing inst musical quality. But I like Lynchs playing, he has some great melodic ideas and its not just fast. hes a great guitar player

I met George about a month ago in Brisbane. He's a cool guy, i got his autograph and a photo taking with him. One of my favourite guitar players ever.
I met him tonight when he played in Dallas. He hung out after the show, took pictures with everyone that asked, signed autographs for everyone that asked, talked very genuinely to people. This guy is an incredible person. George is a rock star without the "rock star" attitude. The whole band LYNCH MOB was very friendly and personally thanked me for going to the show and for taking my 13-year-old twins too. My kids had a blast!
George also told me that he and Don are talking about making a reunion album, a brand new Dokken CD and that he was playing in Oklahoma with them this coming Sunday.
He changes techniques and licks very quickly. He is probably the best in recent history at that type of style. Wicked Sensation was his peak. Unfortunately, he doesn't really play like this anymore and no longer has this tone. His new solo album "Orchestral Mayhem" is interesting but shows that he's no longer how we see him in this video. Something so good could not last so long.

this album whould have sounded a lot better if it was an instrumental album...overall it is good...but here it sounds perfect, and when you listen it you somehow feel dissapointed...i know i am somehow...still he is a kickass guitarist

@oozi4u it's actually an early 70's Marshall Super Lead, which he actually borrowed. I think he used a late 60's 'Plexi on "Back for the Attack" and just turned it up and let it sizzle.
Other amps that he used on the "Wicked Sensation" album were a Fender Champ; some Engl preamps; some other Marshalls, which I can't remember; and a Soldano with an ART EQ in the effects loop.
dude is awesome. i grew up listening to dokken and was a big fan. people say malmsteens stuff all sounds the same, but with this guy, it's really true.
Lynch is the Man, I used to watch clips of this vid on a "Hot Guitarist" VHS tape when I was a kid and I wanted that guitar so bad! His sound and style will forever be one of the sickest In my opinion. Sometimes when my friends came over, I would pop this in just to show them a thing or two......
Hell Yea Man,I Love the way, He Flicks that Five way Switch Up to where it goes to his Single Coil Pickup and then after 5 seconds,He switches back to his Humbuckers.. I met George about a month ago in Brisbane. He's a cool guy, i got his autograph and a photo taking with him. One of my favourite guitar players ever.

I met him tonight when he played in Dallas. He hung out after the show, took pictures with everyone that asked, signed autographs for everyone that asked, talked very genuinely to people. This guy is an incredible person. George is a rock star without the "rock star" attitude. The whole band LYNCH MOB was very friendly and personally thanked me for going to the show and for taking my 13-year-old twins too. My kids had a blast!

He changes techniques and licks very quickly. He is probably the best in recent history at that type of style. Wicked Sensation was his peak. Unfortunately, he doesn't really play like this anymore and no longer has this tone. His new solo album "Orchestral Mayhem" is interesting but shows that he's no longer how we see him in this video. Something so good could not last so long.

this album whould have sounded a lot better if it was an instrumental album...overall it is good...but here it sounds perfect, and when you listen it you somehow feel dissapointed...i know i am somehow...still he is a kickass guitarist

I love how the SCUM at ESP forced their JAP WAYS on George to put their sorry ass sticker on the J FROG Skull and Bones Guitar and THEY get credit for a really cool HAND CARVED GUITAR.
Look through your old 80's Guitar magazines and you will see numerous players blocking out the guitar's logo so they do not loose endorsements from some SHITTY COMPANY.

the only amp switched on is that purple modded marshall super lead
i believe in wicked sensation lynch used the slo 100 for the rythm parts and that great jmp 1959 for the lead
anyway....this lp is absolutely great....one of my all time favorite
lynch here is really inspired....wicked sensation, back for the attack and under lock and key are really awesome....fantastic....Master George Lynch in his best years

@oozi4u it's actually an early 70's Marshall Super Lead, which he actually borrowed. I think he used a late 60's 'Plexi on "Back for the Attack" and just turned it up and let it sizzle.
Other amps that he used on the "Wicked Sensation" album were a Fender Champ; some Engl preamps; some other Marshalls, which I can't remember; and a Soldano with an ART EQ in the effects loop.

Lynch is the Man, I used to watch clips of this vid on a "Hot Guitarist" VHS tape when I was a kid and I wanted that guitar so bad! His sound and style will forever be one of the sickest In my opinion. Sometimes when my friends came over, I would pop this in just to show them a thing or two......

Hell Yea Man,I Love the way, He Flicks that Five way Switch Up to where it goes to his Single Coil Pickup and then after 5 seconds,He switches back to his Humbuckers.. Absolutely Killer Lead Tone,As I can Say George his the Bomb!!!!! Now Days he is Worht every Penny ,Because he gives one HELL of a Performance and he Def. Earns his KEEP!!!!!
