@RasiumLane In blender, there is texture faced lighting. I don't know what its called in 2.5, but in 2.49 theres that. Not as prettyful as GLSL and no realtime shadows. But there are ways to fake shadows. Check the blender artists game engine resources. Should be an easy find.
@CandGPxexpert Thanks for the help. I'll check it out. Here's another question though...
does the paint-face button selection in vertex paint work without the GLSL? I can't seem to find it. Tutorials say that you should first set your selector to Face Mode then switch to vertex paint, thus revealing the Paint-Face Button Selection. I tried it, didn't seem to work. Any ideas? Thanks. I'll be waiting for more posts. More power to Blender!!!!!
@RasiumLane It should, back when we didn't have GLSL i used it all the time, I actually haven't used blender in a long ass time. So i'm not to familiar with the controls anymore. School and work has basically absorbed my whole life right now.
i m working on a game which i need a lights to control i can do it but haveing a little prob and thats i it works in Rendering but when i start the game by pressing P the light doesnt show on the Plan which is so bad plz help :((
I'm doing the lighting for a game and I have to add a lot of lights (all preferably spot lights) for the scene, to light specific areas of the setting. After adding maybe 20 lights (I'm adding them by duplicating) the first lights I added don't light anymore. Does anyone know what could going on?
select your spotlight, then go into the material settings (button with a red ball) and there should be a slider labeled 'spotsi'
for the range i don't think theres any way to adjust that. i don't think there'd be any reason though considering the light goes on till it hits a wall.
mine wont show the shadows, only when i render. :P but im pretty sure that has somethin to do with this shaders not supported message i get. any idea on how to fix that? its wierd cause im pretty sure my graphix card is brand new.... great tutorial though!
first and foremost make sure ur video drivers r up to date. then make sure its on buff shadow and not ray shadow, if it still doesn't work then try ray shadows, i've met a couple people that do ray shadows and it works, but for me buff shadows is the only one that works. and make sure all ur objects hav materials on them, doesnt mater wut color, just make sure all objects have materials.
and if you make that toturial for me i can help you with game that you are making in game preview 3 film im good 3d modeler and i can fing some noices for game ok? if you want to i can upload on youtube my project that im allready started but its not finish yet.
i was expermineting in non-glsl mode and found out, if u apply ur textures before switching to glsl textured mode then u will need to re-apply the textures while in glsl textured mode. so just re-apply ur textures and it should work. :)
texture mode you mean that when i select object and press U and select unwrap and then i have UV/Image editor or what cuz im really bad in english. and if you can , can you make toturial about textures with shadows plz thats really important for me. PlZ can you make tut about it its really important. plz man!
thx man i really like cuz i fixed it;)!!! can yuo help in one more thing plz:P 1. when i turn on glsl and i have real tiem shadows my texture dissaper why help me one more time cuz im making game and its really improtant plz;p
well i hav a geforce 6100gt so the card aint a problem, first off make sure its a buf. shadow and not a ray shadow, then make sure everything reguarding glsl is enabled, then make sure the objects hav materials on them, then if all else fails make sure ur video drivers r up-to-date. otherwise im not sure wut u could do :/
well first make sure u have the latest graphics driver, and some graphics cards dont even support glsl, so this wont work for everyone. and also make sure that the spotlight has buf shadows not ray shadows, also make sure that everything regarding glsl is enabled
how do you get shadows to work with normal maps? when i enable normals the shadow disapears
rokstar234 10 months ago
@rokstar234 lol just figured it out..... its quite simple just use nodes and the normals node without activating the normal button in textures......

Man, my computer doesn't support GLSL. Is there any other way to get the real-time lighting without the GLSL. I really need that type of graphics.
