Carolina Camera: Mountain Storyteller

I am a Yankee. I grew up in the New York area. My first degree was from an Ivy League institution, and I have a Ph.D. But I now live in the southern Appalachians, and I have been coming here for 40 years. I know and deeply admire some of the most aclaimed mountain storytellers. They and their families are among the very best people I've ever met. That includes the late, great Ray Hicks. How can someone be so ignorant as to make the statement which appears below?

@kargenlewis I was born in Arkansas and grew up in the south and lived here all my life...I am not an uneducated racist, just because someone is from the south doesn't make you either of those things. To be honest, the small southern towns are more likely to be accepting than some of the larger cities I have lived in, and they are some of the nicest, hospitable people you will ever meet.
