That's not exactly true. Emo is short for emotional. It's just a sterotype that emos are dark and depressing. They hold on to pain, yes, but they hold on to a whole lot of other things. And no offense, but Yama-kun was sort of emo. He had a reason. Technically he was overly emotional or how sunsetxxwishes put it, "emo". And the whole reason he was kinda emo was his parent's divorce, but that's common, and he's a little more angsty in the japanese version, so yeah, he's kind of emo.
