  • Hiya, Guitar is a Yamaha FG340 (Mark 2) this is a mid-seventies guitar and they have a great tone. I have 8 guitars but this is my favourite. By the wy, it is tuned down in thiss video as I did not have a guitar tuner to hand.

  • @Kimians ..Thank god for that Kimi..

My guitar sounded so out of tune when I played along with you

I thought I needed new strings

But I must say your guitar sounded solid to me mate

    well done

  • hello, what model yamaha are you playing ?? The band on the run video?

  • wow very impresive

  • Great lesson, thanks.

  • Great lesson but you really should mention in your notes that you're tuned down a half a step

  • Nice Job Paul! thanks for showing us all.... Cheers Man!

  • Your Kind Of Like Paul Mcartney

  • I thought you said you DIDN'T know the names of the chords??? You rattled them off quite well enough to confuse me! But I did learn the intro pretty good and first 2 chords. thanks

  • Nice one!

  • Hi Guys. The guitar is a early 1970's Yamaha FG 340. They are very sought after so expect to pay up to £300 on E-Bay.

  • Thanks for all the comments guys. Really appreciated that you leave them. I'll try and get some more 'Bedroom Guitarist' lessons on here soon. Any requests?!

  • yeah,dont sing!only kidding,i wish i could play,never even held a guitar.

  • It was really good. I cant imagine how much better it would be if: you could read music, knew the chords, played in a nomal way, and your hand was alright.

  • this is awesome! i love it!

  • Gonna try this in the weekend :D

    Greaaat song!

  • Looked it till the end, this is gonna take 30-60minutes and than i got it

    Thanks! :D

  • How did you get on with the song!

  • I tried to start with it some times but i just couldnt get the pitch of my guitar right..

I tuned it down a half tone but that didnt gave me the sound you had on your guitar and my weekend had a lot of homework which needed to be done..

A mate of myn was talking about Hendrixtuning so ill ask him what to do next and this weekend I will really try it because it's an awsome song! :D

  • Im getting there ;)

Still looking to put some own stuff in it just to make it come a little bit closer to the original

I might upload a little cover myself ;) time will tell that :P for now im just gonna continuing practicing the song and once again thank you for making this lesson :)

  • I love it, you make it look so easy. I'll be trying this when I get home from work.

  • lol. The playing, the accent, the sense of humor all fits. Thanks for teaching this to a Bolivian Beatle fan.

  • whats the tuning on your guitar standard or drop d or E sounds totally different than mine NICE COVER BY THE WAY

  • Mint video m8ty, thanks helped alot, nice playing

  • you need to tell were your fingers go in each cord other than that your dang good

  • holy shit your awesome on a guitar

  • That was good, and also funny - thanks

  • do you use a different tuning

  • Yes I am sitting on the toilet. Yes my trousers were up. The acoustics are better in my bathroom. Honest!!

  • Is this guy on the toilet?

  • If you need this dumb-ass video refining a bit-then just say. It was very loose cause I was a bit merry on wine. I hope you like this coz it's just innocent guitar stuff for those of us who are'nt guitar wizzards. We are the majority though!!!! I'm drunk Hee fuggin Hee! It's great you guys dig this. It's a great feeling that me in south UK can do something cool for a guy learning guitar in Australia. Wicked! I love YouTube but beware my friends- it is opening our minds

  • The guitar is actually tuned down to 'D' instead of 'E'. That accounts for all those of us who have had problems following this. Great lesson to follow though.

  • If your having trouble with his tuning i Just realise that for the bit just after the intro, play a fret down from everything he plays.

  • YOU ARE AMAZING!

  • awesome lesson. Very nice i like so your style and you are cool

and it is great song !

    BRAVO

  • 2:20 xD the tunning its higher o.o.. nice =) i learned

  • Very nice. I like your style and thanks for giving this to us and that is standard tunings which makes it easier

  • What tuning is this?

  • Flat

  • What was wrong with your fingers lol? Seemed perfectly fine to me.

And I'm sure someone's said before but the F chord is a Fmaj7 if anyone wants to look up the fignering for it.

Great job though, I couldn't be bothered figuring out the chords for a small part of this song and you saved me the time :P

  • My mum shut my hand in a VW camper when I was 8 and my left hand don't work as well as it should - hence I can't 'bar-chord' very well. Thanks for all the comments guys - glad it was of help.

  • i cannot understant how you play those chords like that

  • nice

  • awesome lesson. i wish i had a british accent

  • by the way r u playin flat cause i sound different ???

  • Wow man....alot easier to understand than the tabs online...youre pretty good!!!

It wasnt to serious which is a good thing!

    Laughs are always good!

  • lol thanks mate now i can play it in my upcoming school consert n excuse my spelling lol

  • Cheers mate. Glad you found it helpful. Don't worry about the spelling.... I'm always getting my mucking ferds wuddled!!

  • that helped loads man ty, just mixing it with lead and making it sound good is hard bloody work, you totally contradicted yourself atthe start there btw, "i dont know the name of the chords" ok start with an a minor pull off the last finger then move to a d then open lol you do know the chords dont lie XD

  • Yeah I know!! I do know the basic chords A, C, D, G Am etc but I can't remember what the strings are called and I did'nt have a clue what Gm was until I was told on this site. Glad you found it useful. Cheers. Ian

  • no worries mate i didnt mean for it to sound harsh if it did, i only started last christmas myself and still am confused by a hell of a lot of things, like most people i just expected to pick up the guitar and be good at it lol, but yeh this helped a lot thanx again

  • added to my favs, good work

  • Well done thanks for the video, excellent stuff

  • Well done... thanks for taking the time for posting this.

    Cheers!

  • Is this is standard tuning?

When I play it, it sounds lower than yours, especially when I hit that chord that is the GBE on the second fret..

My guitar is in tune, but I'm freaking out, thinking it's my ears or something, lol!

I'm learning this from you though, so thank you for sharing your knowledge

  • acoustic or electric?

  • I'm playing it electric.

It just sounds a little different. Does it make a difference on acoustic and electric?

  • Very nice little lesson..........Why is paul always mucking things up anyway?

  • I like the way your guitar sounded. Is it a Yamaha? What model? How much is that? Nice tutorial.

  • your are a great guitarist with a good ear

  • Thanks for all the comments guys- I'm only a 'bedroom guitarist' who thought I'd show you how I do things (On the guitar!) Cheers. More soon.

  • I have now learnt how to play this thanks to your brilliant lesson. Good fun- and aimed at us guitarists who know very little about technique and other technical stuff. A big Thankyou. Whats Next?

  • Great tab Kim

I was working in my taxi the other night

When Macca was on at Anfield

I could here it when he was playing this

    I thought I would have a go

And yours seems the most friendly one I have come across without all the frills

    Well done

  • Kimians

    Do us a favour mate

post your stum pattern for this

    I can't get it right

are you dulling the strings with your left hand

  • Hi,

(It's Ian, my wife is Kim - Sad!)

Yes, I am damping the strings with my left hand on each third stroke. This 'mutes' the stings and gives that 'Bossa Nova' type of sound. It's very much a rythmn thing that you would be best practicing with just one chord. (Suggest C or A) I will update this soon and make a better job of it. Thanks for the comments. Glad it helped.

  • Ian

    Sorry mate

Thanks for the hint it did help Ta

  • Actually, having had the guitar out last night, I actually damp with both hands. Oooh Err!

  • :)Thats what I was doing wrong at first

I was damping with the right hand only

Thats why I asked about the left hand

  • Thank you genius!!!

  • Thankyou... but I am certainly not a genius!! Just a guy who plonks a bit on guitar!

  • A nice bit of plonk though!

  • Thanks dude! great teacher, I shall be watching intensively !

  • haveing the last words of your vid as "i don't know" puts you rin the top %1 of the wordls smartest people.

good job on the vid. i also request a straight up preformance without the lesson interupting it.

  • Cheers. I'll try and get a performance sorted when time and video camera access allows.

    Ian

  • F With The Bottom E Is Called F Major Seventh ;)cool playin and also the barre on the 3rd fret with Em Is G Minor And The First D You Play With A barre On The Bottom 3 Stings On Fret 2 Is D Major Seventh

  • Brilliant- thanks for this it made learning the song so much easier. Nice guitar. Why don't you sing it like in your other videos?

How about Bluebird from the same album.

  • Thanks a lot. Glad it helped you out. I'm no major guitarist ut I do have fun! OK the gauntlet is down... I'll try Bluebird for you next.

  • The song is to much of a stretch to my limited vocal ability. Try it!
