  • The section on balance, around the 5 minute mark, is the most telling aspect of this speech. Many make more to do about his "military industrial complex" section, but they forget about the aspects of balance.

  • @jjohnsonmarine You got a good point! I think the whole speech is equally important tho.

  • This Democrat would vote for Ike!

  • This is one of the greatest speeches ever given, Unfortunately since the times of this statesmen, there has not been a great president. God help us all

  • I always wanted to love Eisenhower as a president...and I did for awhile, until I discovered his complacency in the WWII conspiracy against Germany, which I simply can't appreciate. It goes against the very peaceful process which he preaches.

In spite of this, much of what he says is true, and his warning is more pertinent in the modern day than ever before.

In many ways, this speech was the precursor to Kennedy's.

The two of them build upon each other, and go hand in hand.

  • @bagshitass If he were so evil as you claim him to be, why would he warn us of something that the Globalist are trying to achieve? Check and double check your facts. The Free Masons under our Founding Fathers was a great organization and they tried to make the US a utopia. Except the Globalist took their great revolution and twisted it into something that will strangle us instead of prosper us

  • An honorable man in a world without honor

  • Coolest Republican ever...

  • He speaks of Monsanto, the military industrial complex(all the unnamed companies), pharmaceuticals, banks, etc.

What happened to the USA? In one word, good people, honourable purpose, twisted, overcome by one force…greed. I hold hope for the USA, their enlightenment. Sometimes one has to hit rock bottom such that one sees the light. Thus I have hope for our brothers.

  • @esmith I agree completely. It's almost as if he's warning us about what's going on now but I love how he centers on peace and prosperity, then warns of the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex. Great Farewell address.

  • The last great Republican president.

  • You know he was on his way out of office and felt safe enough to say this without any repercussions.

  • Ron Paul should redo this speech in a modernized fashion

  • Is this taught to children in America?

  • @kaznW ha! yeah right!

  • Eisenhower was one of the better presidents of this country. From 11:06 to 11:47 he's talking directly about us now.

  • Ha, I like the cut of his jib. It's just so sad that nobody nowadays will tell it like it is. But on the other hand, if they did would anyone be able to pry themselves away from American Idle long enough to pay attention?

  • This speech should be aired the the nation once every year.

Congress and the President, especially, need to be reminded of Ike's words on a regular basis.

  • this is like the Ron Paul of the 60's. Sooooo hard to listen to through though!!!

  • Americas moral strength is definitely being overshadowed by stupid people

  • Comment removed

  • I miss this man. He reminds me of my Grandpa.

  • Sad that America didn't listen.

  • If only all politicians were still like this...

  • It took him almost 16 minutes to say, "With great power, comes great responsibility."? Pffft, politicians.

  • Today's budget cuts could have been prevented if Americans including the US military and especially the US Army would had listened to President Dwight David Eisenhower farewell speech to the nation on Tuesday, 17 January 1961 regarding the Military-Industrial Complex.

President Eisenhower in case people have forgotten was a war veteran and ended his career as a General of the Army (O-11) a five star general.

It is important to listen to supporters and critics.

  • Its like a magical message in a bottle.

Sad that Kennedy was killed over try to take action against the Industrial Military Complex.

  • RON PAUL 2012!

  • Damn Americas short memory!

  • if this video had 300.000.000 views the usa could have been saved, its too late now

  • omg---he talks about the technological elite

  • Too bad our presidents since Kennedy haven't listened to this , or the speech from Reagan in 64 . We now are left with the Bush mess , followed by the worse Obama mess , with the only ones that stand a chance to win being almost as bad as Obama . Plato - those that are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber .

  • I do not know where are you guys getting your analysis of him warning us, but he's actually supporting the military industry complex as the foundation to the American dream, and economy. Getting rid of the military industry complex will hurt our freedom is what he said.

  • @Jmerino7 you have to read in context, it was the cold war era, and the powers that ran back then were by lack of a better word: ''hawkish'', but in his second half he's clearly warning yes, rewatch it if you missed it.

  • @Jmerino7 I suggest you listen again, He was warning us to protect against a rise in influence by the Military Industrial Complex.

  • 50 years later, it's prophetic from beginning to end.

  • i like this he had a hard fist....

  • Why has no one listened to thess to man Major General Smedley Butler USMC/Dwight Eisenhower

  • I am glad he doesn't have to see what is happening to the country he tried so hard to protect.

  • we are fighting them mother fuckers now Eik I wish you were here to see it tiranny is upon us and the sheeple are all sopporting it ,we have now a thing call new world order is a big idea wich is destrpying everything you said ,but we are not afraid and going foward to desmatel this eugenic, zionist, mazonic;illuminati, evil, cabal that is taking place in 2012 and we will be victorius. FUCK THE NEW WORLD ORDER AND EVERYONE SUPPORTING THESE NAZIS.

  • Eik could see the future so well

  • It never was about civil rights, it was about the Federal Reserve (International Banking System), and the Military Industrial Complex, that all of them were warning the Press, and the American People about, and the fact that President Kennedy had issued an executive order to have our own treasury to start back printing our money, as the constitution requires, as well as putting us back on the silver standard.

  • @CartecayRiver President Kennedy had also ordered a regiment of troops home from Vietnam, and they were on their way until he was killed, then Johnson turned them around and sent them back. As long as Martin Luther King was only involved in the Civil Rights Movement, they did not touch him, but if you will search youtube.com you can find the video where ML King gave a speech, condemning the Vietnam War, and talking about the hidden government.

  • @CartecayRiver By the way, thanks to the King Family, in 1999 James Earl Ray finally had his retrial for his alleged murder of Dr. King, and was found innocent. You can now find all of this information if you care to research it for yourself.

  • A powerful speech and a warning that has been largely ignored and should not have been.

  • i agree if this was out before he left office...........CLICK CLICK POW POW OFFICER DOWN...

  • @mpikoz1 Ron Paul.... He has for longer than I have been alive, warned of these things.

  • He just said to vote for Ron Paul. There is no second choice.

  • He hits so many good points, its almost like a notice a new one each time I hear this speech. One that is often over looked that should be listened to by politicians today: "...to serve the nation well, instead of mere partisanship."

  • We didn't listen!

  • ron paul 2012

  • Only 32,000 views, yet a dog scratching it's ass get like a million, WAKE UP!!!! Why can this be the most viewed video?? Hackers do your thing!!!!!!!!!!

  • @saskblondie I FUCKING CONCUR!!!

  • @saskblondie Maybe because a dog that scratches its ass is an honest show, where as this guy talks about the industrial complex, yet refuses to tell us that he's a high ranking mason and that he is also apart of the elite and secret societies, maybe thats why..why cant people understand that to be president you have to be one of them, it seems even the so-called"awake" people still sleep, this is the first thing a person learns, that if you are PM or President, you are with a secret society !

  • @bagshitass Better grab your aluminum foil hat... the black helicopters are going to aim microwave beams at you.

  • Man this he saw the writing on the wall its almost like a prophet.

  • @jeon0169 As the General of The Allied Forces during WWII gave him a unique insight on how defense contractors could infringe upon the rights of the people. He is the last great GOP POTUS we will ever have! He was the last GOP Pres who put nation above party!

  • @jeon0169 you don't have to be a prophet when you have access to the worlds highest orders of government..

  • There is more than one way to read this. I pricked up my ears to hear his worry that government contracts might substitute for scientific research. A lot of people are reading paranoiac stuff into this.

  • @dangervich This speech warned of the rise of the Military Industrial Complex!

  • Now we know what he meant. With power comes great responsibility. We have been irresponsible by creating conflict just to use the military to move into counties for their resources. We had to do a coup d'etat with Kennedy, 9/11, Osama Bin Ladin "hunting", yeah right, like the moon landing Hoax.

  • I wonder if a leader came out with this speech NOW would the world here, everything about this speech is a major cry out if only they would have listened then but hay it was great look look I'm looking at this through a television set its addictive and here we are today with people refusing to listen to you because it wasn't on tv NOW THAT'S WHAT I CAN IRONIC

  • he would be disappointed in his country his warnings fell of deaf, unwilling, or ignorant ears. Our march to our own demise continues. 234 years as a country with the intention of making it the greatest country the world has ever known. Our endless coquest for world domination continues but who is manipulating the War Machine and what is the agenda? Greed and power corrupt. Follow the money.

  • ♦♦♦ ATTENTION ♦♦♦

@TheSalmonfan = Taiwanese Sick Man of YouTube

A 47-year-old, jobless, Taiwanese freak suffers from a massive Psychiatric Disorder in Montreal, Canada. The sicko channels his desire for communication in a perverted way and becomes an Internet psycho / faggot / pedophile on YouTube 24 x 7 for 4 years.

He eats shit for a living and bullshits in incoherent TAIWANESE ENGLISH with 200+ accounts to seek attention by childish provocation and then laugh at his own retarded wit. LOL

  • Ronald Reagan is nothing compared to the intelligence and forethought of Eisenhower.

  • Politicians today are so polarizing but not Eisenhower. The type and his kind are from another American generation.

  • @Snicklefritz1979 Politics has always been a majority of crooked politicians among a few good men, but you have the Vietnam War to thank for how much worse it is today. The government had to ratify how they employed social influence and propaganda to change opinions to garner support for the war.

  • The last true and amazing President we had! The difference between IKE and the Presidents that came after him, except for JFK and Bush, Sr., is that he served in the military. After having seen death on a scale unseen before or since WWII, he had a tremendous desire for America to know peace, a peace not born of the gift of not living under the shadow the spirit of corrupt corporatism, corrupt corporatism. R.I.P. IKE!!!

  • accurately described the current state of climate science 50 years ago.

  • Why do they Republicans of today want to ape Reagan? They should be looking to emulate Eisenhower. But I've never even heard his name mentioned by the pack of jokers trying to the the President of this country.

    I Like Ike.

  • @xiquiripat The repugs of today still love that BS line of Reagan's; "peace through strength." They're obsessed with the MIC!

  • I LIKE IKE!

  • "I like Ike" and this was taped exactly 10 weeks after JFK was elected with the false charge that under Eisenhower the nation had fallen behind the Soviet Union. That was the subtext for a campaign mantra about "the missile gap." Lack of knowledge is no longer an excuse. End the undue influence of the military-industrial complex and copycat industries which also see the benefit of a controlling interest in our government. Freedom isn't free; be vigilant and exercise your rights.

  • @TheCreativeNuisance During Eisenhower's Administration, the US did fall to communism, (which started it's conquest in the Soviet Union, but was invented as a tool for the conquest of the world by the International Banking System), but it was not to Eisenhower's liking, he tried to warn us what was happening, so have many others, including JFK, MLK, The John Birch Society, and many others. Do a search on youtube for "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by G Edward Griffin.

  • Extremely intelligent man. I'm so glad that Ron Paul is running this year. I'm voting for Ron Paul in 2012 !!!

  • Are there any known recordings of Ikes response to JFK's murder by these evil swine that he hints at? Maybe he did hold back this warning till his farewell speech--can't blame him. I think ALL presidents since FDR have been threatened by these Mamon worshipping scum. Hence the inefectual performance of Obama and even Clinton, who was forced to introduce more rightwing programs than even Bush did. All republican presidents were mouthpieces of the moneytmen.

  • @MrDaiseymay Oh, and Obama is not?

  • we could only dream to have a president that could actually speak like this

  • @stratdude83 No shit dude.

  • Everyone should have to watch this once a year, and think about this man had to say.

    A great man.

  • damn, this was a cool guy. great speech

  • Hitler never would have said this.

  • Intellect and decent purpose.

  • ...would inflict upon us grievous hurt.

  • Could the Republican Party please run the ghost of Dwight Eisenhower for President?

  • @thexalon I cant help but wonder when i Listen to this what in the hell happened to the republican party. Also democrats your not off the hook here at all neither party at this moment in time are not really impressing me all that much. Dont really like Obama he seems weak and sort of useless. Ron paul not so much I kinda think getting rid of regulations and making everything private due to human nature and greed might make things worse. No to the gop goon squad. Its really kind of scary

  • @xxspliffsmokexx If you will study your history, you will see that it has been the Monopolizers, that bough our government off, and allowed further monopolization of everything. This goes back over 235 years when the Rothschild Family began monopolizing the European Banks, continued through the Guilded Age, and has continued through today. That is how most of our industry has progressively mover offshore, and mostly to communist nations.

  • Sorry Dwight but it all went to shit

  • It wasn't until I rented a DVD of 'Why We Fight" that I ever heard this....even though I'd been hearing the phrase: "military industrial complex" since I was a kid back in the 60s. See the documentary if you haven't already....It's available on YouTube, though most of you probably already know this.

  • @195511SM Same here. That was first time i ever really heard of this speech. I heard some of it before but not until i saw that movie did i really understand this speech. They also mention it at the beginning of the movie JFK.

  • This is almost as fun as watching farmers milk cows

  • Awesome ,a man 50 years ago saw the MIC coming? Scary

  • Americans should maximize their Freedom of Expression along with credible research to share the truth for people to decide.

    Always try to cite sources.

  • Great!

  • Had he not waited until his farewell speech to give this in his speech, he would have been killed, as did JFK, and Martin Luther King.

  • @CartecayRiver Why would they kill Eisenhower, he was never seen as taking a strong stance on civil rights (which is why both King and Kennedy were killed). Eisenhower would be bold enough on any issue to warrant assassination, he supported the nuclear arms race, he cancelled elections in Vietnam and Iran, and he is often quoted for saying you cant change men's hearts with laws (meaning its useless to make racism a crime). Ike failed as president, get over it!!!

  • @ihopArmsRace yes, it is kind of ironic that one of the biggest heroes of the usa was a lousy president who only told his people what to watch out for at the end of his terms when he no longer had the mandate to help them, so maybe a coward as well. Still a great speech though

  • @CartecayRiver how?

  • What an awesome speech explaining the greatest danger to our nation's safety.

  • That was an amazing speech. And it is more-than-applicable over fifty years later! This should be rebroadcast on all network and cable channels pronto.

  • "Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."

So many people forget about this part of the speech. Here's an example.

The fraudulent concept of "man made global warming" created by the scientific-technological elite is holding public policy captive.

  • Great

  • The original speech read "Industrial, Military CONGRESSIONAL, complexes. Omitted at last minute in consideration of new benevolent developments in congress according Eisenhower's daughter who saw the written speech.

  • thank you for putting up the entire speech so folks can hear everything in context then make up there own minds and have a spirited debate. it is mind boggling to realize how much power this man held in his hands during WWII. what an incredible burden that must have been, as well as the incredible , unselfish sacrifice of those that served.

  • @RichardElden and that F-ing Carter gave away the canal!

  • Why are people inspired by Ron Paul?

Why do the Troops SUPPORT Ron Paul?

Here, I'm going to make it as simple as possible:

    1. The Military Industrial Complex "invests" MILLIONS in "front-runner" Candidates

    2. "Front-runner" Candidate gets elected.

    3. "Representatives" give BILLIONS in "aid" to the militaries all over the world with the condition that the "aid" be used to "buy American."

    4. The Military Industrial Complex makes TRILLIONS of dollars.

    5. Go to step 1.

    Ron Paul will stop this.

  • I was born in 1958. I think Ike was dead on in this speech. In fact I think people like him are still around but have no chance of getting elected many of them are libertarians. His own VP just as Reagans was a member of that military industrial complex. Yes Ike was a warrior and trained to kill for the defense of the USA and its constitution. But he was also one smart cookie and he could see the future. We need another Ike now.

  • Thank you for this video. I've asked my son to play it for my grandchildren. I'm a cardcarrying, unapologetic, avowed & proud liberal. However I adored Pres. Eisenhower. Sadly, I believe he would be very disappointed by the positions & actions of some members of The GOP, for which I used to have respect & admiration. Our lawmakers need more of Eisenhower's views, his statesmanship, his wisdom, humility & commitment to the wellbeing of his countrymen & women. May we somehow, conjure his spirit.

  • @JEFFMAZAUSKAS brainwashed facist, leberals and conservatives. What a joke, your government whether democrat or republican are taking your Constitutional Freedoms, while they tell you, you are free.

  • everything that Eisenhower warned about in this speech is true today. Not only the military industrial complex, but about money coming to dominate scholars in universities and about living for today and forgetting tomorrow. Truly a great speech, too bad the presidents and congresses that followed Eisenhower could not obey it.

  • He warned against so many policies that has or will swallow up many of our resources. Just look around you. The US is fighting so many "wars" it isn't funny. (war on terror, drugs, illegal immigration) To simply ignore President Eisenhower's warnings is simply foolish. We as a nation need to learn that we are on the verge of collapse if we don't stop this runaway train. Save this nation while there is a nation to be saved!!!!

  • "Free and religious people.........."

  • I won't retract my admiration for his farewell address because he had a man killed. He, in his capacity as the Allied Commander, ordered the deaths of hundreds of thousands. Someone, probably several 'highly placed' government officers probably came to him and said he had to order the death of Patrice Lumumba. Perhaps this order revolted him and that is what prompted the subjects of his farewell address. Military Industrial Complex Changes in the Spiritual Nature of the American People.

  • January, 17, 1961-- This is the same day he killed Patrice Lumumba!

  • @mjtributetour Eisenhower gave the order to kill Lumumba? Would you give us you're source please.

  • @vladdrac88 Yeah, Eisenhower directly told Allen Dulles, director of the CIA at the time, to 'elimnate' Lumumba. You can find it in theguardian newspaper from August 9, 2000. You can also find it in books like Karl Evanzz's "The Judas Factor." The Congo was and is one of the most resourcefully rich pieces of land on this earth. It was in the West's economic interest to have him elimated, because Lumumba wanted to keep the resources for the Congolese.

  • @mjtributetour My admiration for Eisenhower's speech doesn't mean I approve of the killing of Patrice Lumumba or any other national leader protecting the economic interests of his or her people. Maybe in those days the ruling elites didn't see any other way to keep their own people from cutting their heads off. In any country when people get poor enough they start killing. We have the technology but the owners of the capital refuse to put their capital into the needed projects.

  • @mjtributetour - The Belgians killed Patrice Lumumba dip shit. More to the point, Lumumba was killed weeks before this address, not on the same day you fucking moron.

  • One of the most, if not THE most intelligent speeches ever given by a true leader given the political climate at the time. He really did try to warn his people about the enemy within.

  • Guess what Dwight Eisenhower is using here?

    A teleprompter.

  • @donnyforte2 - You're a fucking idiot.

  • @thomaserossi u mad bro?

  • a dire warning from the last true Conservative Republican President. the last legally elected Republican President. ...and the last balanced budget & Debt surplus from a Republican President. a more Progressive President than Obama. certainly more honest.his words are chillingly accurate. this is on my list of "great speeches & rants".

  • One of the most intelligent men to ever be put into the oval office.

  • Contrast this speech to the ones we get from Obama, Bushes, Clinton. Especially Obama. He sounds like he has geared his speeches to children in kindergarten.

  • @USRevolt that's because, unfortunately, the voters of this country are usually roped in with cheap political tricks these days, so that's all it takes any more

  • Of the presidents that have presided during my lifetime, I have never any of them give such a wise, strong, and patriotic speech. No one matches his experience. I am impressed.

  • Is it me or does Eisenhower seem somewhat paranoid and frightened delivering this speech

  • @schoolboyGETxIT right!!?!?!?! you can see the tension..

  • Its kind of like he knew what was to come and he was trying to stop it because he loved his country. He knew the powerful were watching every minute he spoke and knew that this is his last chance to try to stop them. He couldnt stop the stupid fear of communism shit, he couldnt stop the korean war from happening this seemed like his last fuck you to those in power.

  • @scienceatheism - You're so indoctrinated you're actually stupid. You're too stupid to listen to what he said in the video. A stupid person could listen but you can't. The bullshit point you tried to make is 100% wrong but you're so brain dead from indoctrination you don't even know why. Here's an example:

"He couldnt stop the stupid fear of communism shit"

Listen to the video again you brain dead moron.

BTW, Eisenhower saw the mass graves of Communism. You're just too stupid to know it.

  • OK motherfucker, why dont you enlighten me on what he meant you dumb fuck? Teach me something, so I can rape you.

  • I want to see all this world go down in flames, the human race is pathetic and stupid. I have to live with all men good and evil, its unfortunate that evil has the right to speech, etc. all the dumb people get to say there say, get in office, etc. I am done caring and trying.

  • Other countries have beat us in the real life board game called "monopoly"

  • @MrDanimul6 America has been on the path towards being doomed since the 20th Century began. Thank you, Mr. Eisenhower, for your service and one good point, but the rest of the speech is fodder and the reason America is the way it is now. As mind-numbing as present day America is, yesterday was plenty competitive in its own right. Money, power, and religion is what is insidious; hell, they INVENTED the military Industrial Complex.

  • @PawnBACM FACT: Evil runs the world. I am not a evil man but I just want to give you the fact. Evil runs every country no country is better, we are all doomed. I for one have given up, I am selling all my stupid things for more guns, gold, silver, canned foods, etc. I would rather have gold or silver than a euro, dollar, whatever, good luck to all of you and farewell. EVIL RUNS THE WORLD IF YOU DON'T SEE THAT YOUR LIVING A LIE

  • @MrDanimul6 You're right; that's because greed, ignorance, ego, and intolerance do evil better than anything. I don't see anything wrong with your "plan" and, what's more, you should be free to do with your life as anyone should. Answer this though: what do you think happens to your gold, guns, food, and you when the powers that be have stolen everything from everybody else and are simply bored? You're next; because you're right. Don't give up; you really have nothing to lose.

  • @PawnBACM You are right about that, Satan is in control of most of the world, but I for one will go down fighting against him and his Corporation.

  • I heard complaints from people about the edited message, but his warning against our powerful government is still the same. Our gov lives for today and starts war for profit and materials for tomorrow (oil, etc)

  • As a Bahamian, I have to say that this man and his successor Kennedy are the last great US Presidents that could even match up with Washington and FDR. His predictions about the MIC is turning out to be completely accurate, which we can see is bankrupting the US and the world in two pointless wars, along with our reliance on foreign oil (which no one is even considering in the budget cuts. bikes/green energy/nat. gas anyone?). If only we listened.

  • The Best Speech By a Head of State . .

  • You cannot see this too often. He was right. We were warned. Now look at the mess we're in. DEMAND THAT ALL MILITARY CONTRACTORS START PRODUCING ALTERNATIVE ENERGY MATERIEL INSTEAD OF WAR MATERIEL. We will prosper overnight. WE MUST do this or we are doomed.

  • the last of the original true Conservative Republican Statesman. this is one of the greatest speeches, ever! a serious & prophetic warning to America from the last Republican President to have a balanced national budget . <l ; P

  • @catayl this man is the reason why i like Ron Paul with Dennis Kucinich as his running mate. all honest Constitutionalist Conservatives. i would love to see Jimmy Carter as a Foreign Relations Adviser. Robert Reich in Banking and Finance. these are the people that DESERVE a Nobel Piece Prize for more than one reason.

<l ; P be a Blue Republican so we can Primary Ron Paul. hurry, voter registration deadlines are soon!

  • Eisenhower's a bro

  • Only 9,062 views? That's pathetic.

  • We need Ron Paul 2012

  • He should be on the the $10 or $20 bill. Way better than the dudes on there now. That's all.

  • Way to go, USA. Just about everything Ike warned us about has happened. Democracy is a burned-out hulk in which the people are manipulated and deceived. A world confederation of love and trust - yeah, that'd be nice. The America I know runs on hate and fear. We're living well outside our means. America's economic and environmental policies have little -if any- regard for future generations. If only we had listened... if only we would listen now...

  • The fact there is only 8700 views shows whats wrong with our country

  • @Jasonhuber22221 And you still have to take into account that there is a lot of foreigners watching that....

  • This is the American president I respect the most. I hope one day north American politics can return to intellectuals who know what is best instead of corporate puppets.

  • As relevant, if not more, as it ever was at the time.

Prescient, pragmatic words from a man who saw and waged war that destroyed countries. His account of the Falaise Gap is quaking.

Post war, he saw the tide turn, yet like Kennedy and all who followed, could do nothing. The big business of arms making seeks only to sell as many as possible and has the lobbying and entrenched establishment to back it up.

If they had to give refunds on failed shells and equipment, that'd slow them up.

  • So in contemporary times they realized through this speech that if they kept the public uninformed and unaware through distraction and misinformation, the government and specifically the industrial military complex could do whatever the hell it wants without approval. The few rule the many without consent, that sounds like a neutering of the "public" part of republic to me.

  • Another factor in maintaining balance involves the element of time. As we peer into society's future, we-you and I and our government-must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.

  • Too bad we did not take notice of his wise words. Also too bad he authorized the construction of an additional 10,000 nuclear warheads.

  • @MeredithBixby He was a military general and believed in strong defense. (defense is a hijacked word nowadays) even the most principled libertarians & democrats believe in a strong defense of our country from invasion. YES he authorized development of nuclear weapons but as he says there is POTENTIAL to abuse this great power & the complex machine that builds the bombs and gets defense contracts must not get out of hand that it goes looking for war to serve itself. -We did not heed his warning.

  • Every true patriot MUST listen to this video. unfortunately, what the old man warn us about, is being done to day. We never did find the so called "weapons of mas destruction".

  • Every amercian should remember this video when the news talks of "national deficit". The cause being your constant wars, egged on by the "military, industrial complex".

And yes, he was the last decent US president.. Kennedy never had a chance, they gunned him down like a dog for standing up to them after the Cuban missile crisis.

Nuclear world destruct kinda does that to a man.
