@AlShaddai That graphic is one that I drew, then scanned into my computer. I dabble in graphic arts once in a while when i have a little time to "play". I have a website where you can find some of that stuff if you care to have a look at it.
You are a great player and have a beautiful Rickenbacker guitar, but the opening chord is close, but incorrect. See "boneypart" "A Hard Days Night - intro F not G7sus4. I know you don't play the G7sus4, but what you play is wrong. Regardless, this is the best "Hard Days Night" I've heard. Better than the Beatles!
@AlShaddai Thanks! Sometimes I things wrong...but that comes from playing by ear. Often I will go back and listen to a song after a long period of time passes and hear things slightly diferently...and at that point alter how I play the song.
@BuddyClontz . Buddy, I doubled checked, and I confess that I AM WRONG and you are right. There are several chords that sound very close. The other chord is close, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. :-) What you played is what George Harrison said the opening chord was. You have a very talented "ear". Your graphic art is also great. If you are selling any posters, I am a buyer. I will take a look at the website if I can find it.
@nerdunitofhunain No, they are not really any more difficult to tune than most six-strings. I will say that changing the strings on the Ric 12-string guitars takes a little longer than your average 6-string but the sound you get when it is all finished is unlike any other.
The solo is absolutely correct and that is the first time I have been convinced that I had seen it done properly! Been searching for years and you nailed it. You are fantastic.
Hey but listen Buddy, your F is off. They are playing the bottom 4 strings of F chord with a pinky thrown in on the 1st string on the 3rd fret.
very very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very good dude!
Its impossible to create the opening chord of the record unless you have a full band. On the record George Harrison and Lennon are play Fadd9 probably with a G bass note (Harrison with a 12-string Rickenbacker and Lennon with a 6 string acoustic most likely his gibson), Paul is playing a D note on the bass either at 12th fret of the D string or at the 5th fret of the A, George Martin playing D2,G2,D3 on a grand piano, with Ringo adding a snare and subtle ride.
@ThomasRivette They are sold at most music stores and chains that carry fine instruments. Contact the company from their official website to find the dealer nearest to you.
I'm afraid sir Paul won't ask Buddy to play anything untill he has learned the right chords :o) The A Hard Days Night opening chord is wrong as is Buddy's 12 string lead guitar in If I needed Someone. Sorry to point this out - but both are easy to correct.
Sorry... wrong intro chord... Place your index finger across 3. fret and then fret the A string and G string in 5. fret with respectively your ring finger and pinky - let all the strings ring ... and there you go....
@Katalyst8701 Thanks! I'm sure Sir Paul has the best players already...but I would love to have a go with him on a few Beatles tunes. I could probably hold my own on at least some of them.
I finally got my FireGlo Ricky 360/12 about a month ago along with a Janglebox and it's awesome. The only thing to bear in mind however is the Ric is a bear to play at first - takes awhile to get used to due to the narrow Ric neck.
Mind you, Buddy's a natural and makes it look so easy. Rickenbacker should be paying you for all this great advertising you're doing for them Buddy. :)
awesome. just a quick couple questions.. im a huge rikenbaker and beatles fan. i was wondering were u got that guitar and for how much. another is if u could send me the tabs for the solo and the outro. thanks
@thebeatlesliveon123 Thanks! I purchased the Rickenbacker from a Rickenbacker Dealer...that no longer carries new Rics. The cost at the time(10 Years ago) was about 1/3rd. what it would cost now. As far as tabs, I don't use any. I play totally by ear.
Buddy, I try to get a sound as close to The Beatles as I can, not as good a player as you are though. I run my Ricky 325 Miami through a Vox Cambridge 15 amp. Not only is it enough for home use and inexpensive, when I compared all the Vox amps at the store the little 15 sounded more like the big expensive one than any other. You really should look into buying the little Vox to run the Rick through. Money well spent I believe. It really helps to give "The Sound".
I would really love one of the hand-wired Vox AC-30 models...but with most of my budget for the last year going into a remodeling project, that sort of thing will have to wait...but eventually, I'll have one.
hello, bclontz.I really enjoy your video, very informative and played well ,have you worked out the intro to ILL cry instead&the guitar solo to my bonnie,no one has attempted these as of this letter, did you know that georges 360 ric was a custom model made for him,it has the 16inchwidth of the byrds model,is this the 370,this was available as a special order in the later 70s,georges 2nd one,the byrds in fireglow I read was stolen.dan,,,,
@daninflorida HI DAN,i'll cry instead intro --put your 1st finger on fret 3 b string--second finger on 4th fret g string and then 3rd finger on d string fret 5, looks just like f7 chord on 1st fret, but you do it on 3rd fret. practice down/up/down stroke then quickly lift second finger off 4th fret while the 3rd finger plays a bar on 5th fret of strings g/b/e, then back to original chord i gave you,do it quickly and you will get the correct intro sound to i'll cry instead.
Close, but NO cigar. GH didn't do what you are doing nor was he LOUD. A Ric 360-12's sound properties thru' a Fender amp is different than a Ric 330-12 thru' a Vox. I know; I've had a Ric 370-12 BYRD since 1972 & tried it thru' many amps; dry & w/ lots of F/X pedals, like a Vox Wah full tilt. Intro's 3 parts: Ric 330-12, D bass note & a piano chord. You can't duplicate the combined voicing on a Ric by itself. Those bass lines make your amateur attempt at 'covering' the tune even more ridiculous.
Thanks! I've never suggested I was doing what any of the Beatles did. I just played it for the fun of it...however technically incorrect it may be. As far as your advice, I hope you aren't silly enough to think I give a @*^$! :-)
@Guitarman1146 you know why don't you complainers telling all these guy's they are not even close on a song make your own video and help teach us all the right way??
Buddy, I love your videos and that Ric 12 string sounds superb! I'm hooked. I've got a 350v63 due anyday now and I can't wait! I thought the wife would kill me but when I quietly mentioned it, she just rolled her eyes! So,Now...what do you suggest I need to get a 12 string past her too? Advice gratefully received! I can't play as nicely as you, but I think that v63 will make it a lot of fun trying...Keep the videos coming Buddy!
Thanks! For the most part, I have always bought whatever I wanted and done whatever I wanted and my wife knows that is how I am. She also knows I am very responsible and have always taken care of things at home first. As far as she goes, I don't try to control her actions either...so it works both ways. I'd say buy the guitar if you want it, and if your wife asks about it, then tell her you bought it. It's your money...
I liked everything except your steps down from the G chord to F chord. I don't thnk George did that, did he? Excellent job on the lead! I've got a 97 Ric 360/12 but with the std pups - not the toasters. Great guitars!

I don't know the prices of all the Rickenbackers but if you'll go to their factory website, they probably have a price list(retail). The 360 models I play average around $2500 USD on sale. -BC
but i want only the price of the pickups that i can use to get a sound like lennon or harrison in you cant do that but i can buy a rickenbacker copy and adpted the pickups and it sound good?? (dillion guitar brand

hi buddy can you sell me these rickenbacker well first give me the price in usdollars please and good video the rickenbacker sounds very good if you make a video from you cant do that your going to be the best
for the main verse, try keeping it on the G chord for the duration and just moving the 5th and 6th strings from the root G to the root C chord, leaving the top strings as G all the time.

I don't know the prices of all the Rickenbackers but if you'll go to their factory website, they probably have a price list(retail). The 360 models I play average around $2500 USD on sale. -BC

Thanks! It's hard to get any other guitar to sound just like a Rickenbacker. They have a sound that is unique to themselves in my opinion. -BC

u play by ear?? my cousin can sometimes
102ledzepfan 2 years ago
for the main verse, try keeping it on the G chord for the duration and just moving the 5th and 6th strings from the root G to the root C chord, leaving the top strings as G all the time.
