I have some knowledge on this subject and I doubt very much that this can be done without a pre-hypnosis and codification of the subject. In fact I am willing to allow anybody to hypnotize me this way.
@JKHypno That's right he is now a Fellow of the Academy of Hypnotic Arts. From the day we did this, Paul's first tray ning with me, he went on to do the stage and professional hypnotist training with us, and has been working with us now for five years.
I have some knowledge on this subject and I doubt very much that this can be done without a pre-hypnosis and codification of the subject. In fact I am willing to allow anybody to hypnotize me this way.
@JonChase lol people are just so ignorant to the whole hypnosis subject.. i like to remind them and explaine what happens by telling them about when they watch t.v :) and watch them try to argue.. :D
Have you experience of doing this sort of thing? if not what is your opinion based on, or just being someone of a limited amount of knowledge and disbelieving everything you see which does not conform to your way of thinking.
I have done this also many times, and from having seen Jons work and read lots of information online and books, Jon is as real as they come with regards to hypnosis.
@kanix999 what do you mean by a load of junk- what it shows is completely realistic and tangible and learn-able and doable. Either you just wrote to demean the Hypnotist or you have no idea about what Hypnosis is. There is nothing here in the vid that requires a "staging" and can be performed anywhere instantly, when people are just willing to participate - the more people present, the better it is (more message units).
Respond to this video... I have some knowledge on this subject and I doubt very much that this can be done without a pre-hypnosis and codification of the subject. In fact, I am willing to allow anybody to hypnotize me this way, and lets see if it work.
@kanix999 i can see no reason why this would be staged, Jon is a very good and very experienced hypnotist and he is also very direct. and he also mentions that the subject is a somnambulist, someone who is a very very good hypnotic subject. that's why he is responding very easily to the suggestions.
@kanix999 Plus, hypnosis is a world and (already) a bit old natural phenomenon known to humans. Even Freud (you must recognize this man as not a fake author and professional, right?) said he used to use it while in his first decade of work. So, where does this sckeptisism come from? Ignorance? Perhaps. That's understandable!
im sorry.. this is a load of junk. this is truly ridiculous and you people that buy into this stuff just crack me up. someone could nott do this to a regular person. this is staged
when you grab his hand it's disrupted, kind of like a handshake induction. i suppose this is what creates confusion and when he enters the intensified trance state?
No. If I had gone to 'shake' his hand and turned iot into his face it would have been a pattern interrupt. I just asked for his hand then told him to look at it.
There is no pattern interrupt and until I say 'sleep' no trance either. There certainly is no different levels of anything, you is or you ain't. ;-)
1) You were saying because his eyes were open there was some concious processing and hence resistance to the suggestion; if you had told him his name was Lucy whilst his eyes were closed, and then got him to open them, would he still fight it when asked for his name?
2)My father has problems with his sinuses (always blocked), if he was told that his nasel passages and throat were clear, like you did with Paul would it help him?
1. There is always conscious processing. To walk talk count remember forget or any other mental process we use the brain or conscious. There is no resistance to the accepting the suggestion, just reluctance to admit it. Gill Boyne say's hypnosis is a state of mind not a state of eyelids.
It's interesting, you can have him still remembering that his name is Paul and knowing full well that he knows that his name is Paul, but as long as he thinks "No, I want my name to be Lucy," hypnosis has succeeded. Hypnosis is interesting in that not only will it seem fully voluntary, but it WILL be fully voluntary. This is useful because, if you really did forget to tell him to be Paul again, then unconsciously he would know that others should know he knows who he is. Let it be; it matters!
He didn't remember his name was Paul, although he did know it wasn't Lucy.
He didn't want it to be Lucy, he had no choice. Whatever your subconscious accepts as your reality is your reality and will remain that regardless of what your conscious brain thinks.
I think you should have left him as Lucy as its a cute name and it suits him.
I tried the bucket in one hand and the helium filled hand on my eldest daughter. The bucket hand stayed still, but the helium hand went to about 45 degrees. Result. :o)
I tried this technique on a friend who seemed to follow pretty well however when I said sleep and such she kind of waited about a second before waking up so do I need to tell her to go deeper after?
Depends what you mean but, if I'm right, and you tell someone that the next time you say and do XXXXX they will return to a specific behavior then that lasts as long as you do. Unless someone like me overrides that ;-)
Hi Jon, in the film you say that you know that Paul/Lucy is a somnambulist. Could you explain what you mean by that please? I ahve been working on reaching somnambulism and have my own explanation for what it is but your saying this doesn't fit into what I thought 'a somnambulist' is, could you please help me understand clearer?
Sure. In my understanding and purly in hypnotic terms a somnambulist is someone who accepts suggestion easily and without question and then takes action on those suggestion immediately.
So for me a somnambulist is simply an easily hypnotised person.
Well, "levels" depends on your point of view. But I've managed to get positive hallucinations in a first induction. Is it down to the hypnotist? Is it down to you? The answer to both is "yes" in my view. It's the partnership. That's why Jon can catch me every time...
How did you know that Paul is a somnambulist? And since he didn't want to be hypnotized and only wanted to see, so does that make him an unwilling subject as well...?
I'm *always* an unwilling subject! It's how Jon proves it's not faked with me.
I'm always up for being hypnotised by Jon, as for years I had the belief it couldn't be done. That happened when a stage hypnotist once said "No - you can't be done" at the start of a show, instead of something like "You're not in the mood"
As for approval? Well, I'm now a trainer using the techniques that Jon teaches, so I can be forgiving :-)
So with that comment, I was unable to brought to a deep state of trance by a hypnotherapist during the 1st session (I only reached level 2/3 of hypnosis), so the problem lies with me or the hypnosist...? I was want to reach level 4/5 of hypnosis to experience ammesia or positive hallucations...
"whats your name?" "Paul" "its not, its Lucy. whats your name?" "Lucy" Best part

dam I know who overrode it thanks again
Bhuggy13 3 years ago
It doesn't need an official 'hypnotist'. Just someone more influential than you telling them it wont work will do. Unless you take steps to stop that.
Same thing happens in therapy. They get home and someone more influential suggests it won't last and it doesn't.
JonChase 3 years ago
Thats interesting. How then do you as a hypnotist try to ensure that you are the most influential person?
Wolfwood7149 3 years ago
Lol. By being the HYPNOTIST and making sure bothy of us know that.

I'd hypnotised him before.
Paul is always consciously 'unwilling'. He'll probably answer this better himself.
JonChase 4 years ago

I'm *always* an unwilling subject! It's how Jon proves it's not faked with me.
