@ObsessedXP The bows are long because if they can't hit the target with an arrow they can use the bow as a stick and knock the target down. It's only a couple meters away.

The predecessor of samurais were mounted archers. They used a laminated longbow and armed with a long curved sword known as tachi. Japanese mounted archers are among a few horse archers that used a longbow unlike most horse archers used a shorter, more compact recurved composite bow. The Ogasawara School maintains and preserved this ancient form martial art.

Just so you know, no war looks beautiful... Every country has done good and bad things. Don't say peoples race is bad or good. That's wrong. Individual people withen the race do bad or good things.

That was an age of fascism and super-nationalism and the warrior driving culture of Japan's Shogunate era wasn't so long ago (the Meiji restoration only occurred around the turn of the 20th century). Besides, all enemies are ugly in war.

Beautiful archery and riding skills. I'm glad they used targets and not the dogs. Why are the horsed foaming at the bit before the contest? They looked so calm in the parade march in. Thanks for posting the great film.
