"Just like an old Les Paul, I can't even get Gibson to that"..... Right on Joe, Such a huge tone and playability factor between the 50's Les Pauls and current Gibson Historics.
Carvin makes nice guitars, but I have one complaint. They don't offer different neck sizes. I like bigger necks. I think they could sell more guitars if they offered different size neck contours.

Joe Walsh is awesome! He was in "The James Gang" before he was in the Eagles and that was a great band. I also have lots of his solo albums on cassette.
If someone did not know who Joe Walsh was. There is no way they would believe how successful he has been in his career, as Joe is not cocky in the slightest. Joe is on the most successful selling album of all time: Eagles Greatest Hits - selling more than Michael Jackson's Thriller. He has written some of the best guitar hooks ever: Life in the Fast Lane, Funk #49 etc.. Yet, he likes to talk about guitars and tries to help other people improve their technique. Joe is a nice guy.
I thought he quit drugs and alcohol? he's slurring his words and he acts like he is still high or drunk. It's a shame, cause I like his guitar playing.
@koolhandvuk: Joe's current state of being, I think, is simply the result of a lifetime worth of alcohol and drug abuse. Hes lucky to still be around, and I'm glad that he is. I have heard that hes living a clean lifestyle now. For being such a famous musician, he still seems like such a modest, "ordinary everyday guy". I hope that he stays clean and keeps recording
@koolhandvuk Come on give him credit where credit is due! If you did all the drugs and alcohol he did and to survive it. You'd be slurring also. He's clean and sober and he's still the best. He is truly a genuine individual.

Joe Walsh is my guitar hero and in my opinion the greatest guitarist out there (to me anyways). Upon seeing this video I wanted a Carvin CT6 like Joe's, and I was able to pick up one used in my local guitar store with the same pickups and features and its an amazing instrument! I hope Carvin does an updated Joe Walsh video soon as I know he's used their single cuts (CS6) and now uses their new DC6.

Carvin's set neck models are really well made. The neck is set very deep into the body. A guitar like the one Joe's playing would cost $5,000.00 from PRS. The Carvin costs about $1,500.00
@serazac25 The CT6 is definitely not the cheapest Carvin, but its probably the best all around deal for that caliber of guitar. A person could expect to pay anywhere from $3000 to $5000 for a PRS guitar (a very similar guitar which offers the same or lesser features, depending on the model). I have a Dragon Burst Carvin CT6 (the guitar thats shown at 3:31 in this video) with jumbo frets, ebony fretboard and locking tuners. It only cost me around $1700. I'd say I got a fair deal.
Joe Walsh has talked like this for 25 years, and he knows it. He is a scientist of the guitar and he is sitting here telling people exactly what to look for in a good guitar. It's quite a lesson.
The guy is in his sixties for Christ sake! Give the man a break! I think he looks good for his age and healthy. As a guitarist myself and a Carvin guitar owner, and feedback I can get from Joe Walsh is much appreciated. So shut the fuck up!!
I Like Carvin, very high quality. I also like G&L. Guitars, I had a Peavey Wolfgang that was very nice. As far as amps, I wouldnt clog up a wood chipper with a marshall, total junk, the newer ones anyway. I'd look at the Carvin Belair tho.
All that aside, ya gotta love Joe and the great music he still continues to give us these days.
Joe Walsh is a true legend and I love his work through out his career, but it is really sad to see the effects all the decades of booze, drugs, and fast living he has gone through from touring with the Eagles has done to him. It has really taken its toll. Much like now when you listen and look closely to Eddie Van Halen. But everything he said about what great guitars should be in this video - is exactly right. A great man playing a truly great guitar.
fav band, fav g man, an asp to any band in any land, joe could have been. ok so he choosed the eagles wisely, and still the best guitar based band the world has yet begot. pickerm
Joe Walsh is an encyclopedia of musical knowledge. This is a nice primer on what to look for when getting a guitar: the little things that make it easy to play and gets you a good sound. Like he said, it's the details that count.
Joe Walsh is a guitar legend!!!! Drugs were the lifestyle of most musicians, I'm just glad Joe is still here! Along with being a great guitar player, he's funny and down to earth. No ego and that's what really makes Joe, one of a kind!!!! Oh yeah, actor too. The Drew Carey Shows-ED!!!
@redhead5150 Joe's first band was with my uncle back in Stow OH. I've heard some great stories! I guess my grandma didnt like him because of his hair. hahaha
Sorry for my mistake! I stand corrected! I had heard on a radio program which stated he had dropped out of high school and made it big as a musician! I assumed they were telling the truth, guess not. Sorry.
Everybody should know by now interviewers are systematically great at catching someone while they're tired or just woke up it's their call their aim. They could've just woken him up as he slept after giging in jersey or cal. somewhere;and he may have forgotten the interview date,he has so many people hounding him for this and that.
This cat has lived the life that WE can only dream about! Life in the fast lane will mellow ya out sooner or later, and Joe is one cool mellow cat! This guy dropped out of high school and made it big in rock and roll. Rock on Joe!
I actually really like Joe's voice...I find it quite entertaining. And just the way he speaks it's almost as if he's just a big kid...who's one hell of a rocker and likes to have fun both on and of stage. I say good on ya Joe. Glad to see your sober and your still doing well. Rock on Buddy!! You'll always be my favourite guitarist....
You are completely alive on stage and here you seem almost suicidal!! Ahhh! YOU are Joseph Fidler Walsh, for the love of God! A guitar god by all means!!
You said "Australia...." now I feel the way you sound!! =(
MasterSchmidt.... What do I say? The padowan still needs much training. Yes, Joe is awesome and is an integral part of The Eagles, but no, they are not The Eagles because of him. Like it or not, he is not near as important to the group as Henley and Frey.
All the years you waste when your Young and Talented by drowning yourself in booze and other mind altering substances...It always comes to pass ,that we only truly appreciate our Gifts as we get older and WISER. I can Truly say that I'm glad Joe made it to the future, when his friends weren't so fortunate!! We all Love YOU Here JOE** " Keep on STRUMMING"
he's had some pretty serious personal issues...he lost a daughter in a car accident...and i think the way he sounds is just the result of years of drinking. if you get past the voice, though, he's quite intelligent. :)
joe is the man, saw him with the eagles in Toronto and noticed he was playing that guitar, at least i'm pretty sure it was that one or something similar.
Carvin seems like the best deal going in an American made guitar and Ive sort of spec'd out what id want....Would love to hear from some Carvin owners
I bought the CS6M. Unbelievable! I won't even go into the number of higher priced guitars I have. Nothing comes close to this one! 30 years of playing experience speaking here. Buy it.
What happened was, I live up here in Canada right, so on the ride up the shippers messed it up and it was cold, so when it arrived it was broken. I called Carvin and found that their customer service was EXCELLENT. If you ever got a problem man they will fix you up better than any other company Ive dealt with
Once it came back all fixed from Carvin it's the best guitar I've ever played and everythign else seems like a pile of turds
I know this is a bit old (about five months) but, I can attest to Carvin guitars exceptional craftsmanship. They are phenomenal. Actually, they're incredible to be perfectly honest. Bought my first one in 1983. A Hawaiian Koa that was just magnificient. I had so many people pick the thing up and play it and their jaws would just drop. They all swore they'd never played anything with such unbelievable action. Joe is right. Carvin stuff is just incredible.
JW is my main influenceas a guitarist.Having said that-Joe can be involves intimately in the specs of the axe he wants made.for us guys that never made it big-the(companies gibson, fender, prs, carvin, esp, hamer, etc) aint gonna sit with you and hear your spec demands-even if you had the cash-they dont want a dude like me, 28 yrs playind, damn good--but a nobody-to advertize their product.cop an axe that is as close to your liking-then customize it to your taste and feel, been doin it from day one
Yes! Carvins rule! I've got a custom DC 127, a vintage '85 black V220 and a new AC375 electric/acoustic (among other guitars/brands). The carvins are my favorite!
Great guitar...great tone...and he's written or played on a bunch of great songs. How does this compare to Paul Reed Smith Customer 22/24 and how much would Joe's guitar cost to order?
Joe is simply the best! The most down to earth guy you wpuld ever want to meet...so humble. I first saw him in Oct. of 68 and he pretty much talked this way then...its just his way! Truely an inspiration! We need more Joe Walsh solo stuff!!!
I hate his voice but his guitar playing is legendary.

That's just Joe. He's always been like this. Ain't he great?
thereallouminatti 2 years ago 21
he's had some pretty serious personal issues...he lost a daughter in a car accident...and i think the way he sounds is just the result of years of drinking. if you get past the voice, though, he's quite intelligent. :)

Unless he's on any other form of media besides interviews his is very lively.

Love him though :D.

I bought the CS6M. Unbelievable! I won't even go into the number of higher priced guitars I have. Nothing comes close to this one! 30 years of playing experience speaking here. Buy it.

Hey bro, I got a Carvin a few years ago
What happened was, I live up here in Canada right, so on the ride up the shippers messed it up and it was cold, so when it arrived it was broken. I called Carvin and found that their customer service was EXCELLENT. If you ever got a problem man they will fix you up better than any other company Ive dealt with
Once it came back all fixed from Carvin it's the best guitar I've ever played and everythign else seems like a pile of turds

Hi:

Joe is terminally baked.....and not on drugs or alcohol. He's always been like that. If he talked/acted normal I'd think he was high.

Great guitar...great tone...and he's written or played on a bunch of great songs. How does this compare to Paul Reed Smith Customer 22/24 and how much would Joe's guitar cost to order?
bitterclinger 3 years ago
Around $1800, it wouldnt be his signature Carvin (he doesnt have one with Carvin) but your custom.
guitarboy599 3 years ago
Joe is simply the best! The most down to earth guy you wpuld ever want to meet...so humble. I first saw him in Oct. of 68 and he pretty much talked this way then...its just his way! Truely an inspiration! We need more Joe Walsh solo stuff!!!
