maybe, but it would be ordinary, far too basic of a story and non-artistic, and wouldn't have won this price.

also not seeing the actual people act takes away any sentiments or prejudices one may have towards these different people...basically less distractions. you can't personify with anyone based on anything but what's absolutely relevant to the story.

it makes it timeless (except for the bullet) and widely applicable.

I have to say, it is disturbing to an extent but nevertheless beautifully executed. I had a similar idea as did Wazupimanntaylor.

The animation is about the tragic life of this woman, Mary Slade and that tragedy is then play out by the very insects that are feeding off her corpse, through what appears to almost be like a cruel sense of humour at some instances.

It started off beautifully with the figurative images of symbolic storytelling until around the 2:40 when everything becomes literal. The bugs start talking and acting like the people... Not a very good translation. I believe the narrator should have kept telling the story while the bugs remained symbolic. When they start talking, it seems a bit kiddish. Just my opinion.

I know what you mean, but I think there's deeper meaning with the bugs talking.

To me its saying the deeper they go with cutting this girl up, the more they're unraveling her story until they found how she died (the bullet) they ended the story.

Besides even when they were talking like humans they still had the movement of beetle/insects.
