HOW did you get such a big place. I had a one room (and tiny bathroom). The school used the excuse they had to get it quickly. Then after my year was almost up, they said they couldn't or wouldn't find a new place for me. It was smaller than a dorm size place

Koreans don't call it Apartment, just call it as 'One-Room house"

Korean apartment has at least over 2 separated rooms, one living room and one outer balcony, and it is generally over 10stories building, and about over 3times larger than the One-room house. :)

WOW, I remember those apartments from 10 years ago when my ex taught English in Korea!!! Most of the newer apartments like my cousin's aren't that tiny anymore. I think they give those to English teachers because they are cheap and efficient. Maybe you guys will be able to upgrade one day (if you guys stay long-term). lol. Anyway, nice presentation!

@whoaza We were pretty surprised at our somewhat grungy apartment compared to the apartments that all of our friends live in. You should check out our new apartment though.... it's awesome :)

Your apartment is actually nice compared to most single bedrooms/bathrooms I have seen for foreign teachers. Looks somewhat newer style. I'm also in Gwangju, haven't seen you around downtown or at any GIC functions. Maybe we will meet soon?!

@mziwewonga it isn't as nice as it may seem. There is a lot of mold that we have to fight. We are moving into a studio next year with our new school. It is nicer I think, even though there isn't an official bedroom. Just a loft.

Usually accomodations provided by companies are almost like a college dorm. Korean people have always been multitasking as far as i know and you can see how it's embeded in the culture in so many things. That is why some may seem a little rude but they're just trying to conserve and be a bit more helpful to the society.
