I have to agree that its rather distracting to have it make as loud of a click as it does.

I prefer the smooth changes of his hyper bass, but I isn't the strength of this is that it can drop further than the hyper bass can?

You only notice it because it was recorded on a hand-held camera which picks up every sound in the whole room. When you listen to him on an actual audio recording you don't even hear it.
