The funny thing is having a public funded health care system would actually cost less money than our current system. The problem is this country is not a democracy. This country is an Oligarchy (rule by the few elites). Democrats and Republicans it doesn't matter who you vote for, they all stand for the same things and make a big fuss about the little differences that they share. The quality of life for the average American in the 21st century is going to take a deep, deep dive.
And then the right wing nuts get outraged about the idea of having a single payer system!!! Ask any person who has lived over seas in another developed country which system would they rather have. Or even better tell the German, French, Canadian and Dutch people to give up their public funded health care systems so they can spend that money on defense to buy weapons in order to defend other people's countries and play (World policeman). They would call you stupid!
Obama's healthcare changes don't go far enough. We spend $700 Billion/year on defense, at least $7 Trillion in 10 years to protect S.Korea, Japan and Germany keeping tens of thousands of troops over there while 50 million Americans here can't get access to proper health care if they get seriously sick. Meanwhile, Germans, S. Koreans and Japanese who we protect share gov funded single payer or semi private health care systems where all (100%) of their peoples get access to worry free health care.
look at all you obama loving fuckers, wanna screw up this country more and more n people will lose their homes and jobs, obama is wanting to raise the debt ceiling and destroy this country more and your bitches suport obama care
Obama sold out.. he should have destroyed private health insurance and set it up "non-profit" and force pharm/hospitals to negotiate with the state on behalf of the people or get only customers who pay to skib waiting lists... Only problem is he didnt have balls to really do something.
I live in a country with universal healthcare and a compulsory contribution out of earnings for everyone in work. Unemployed, pensioners and those in full time education dont have to contribute. And when you do need the doctor, an operation, a wheelchair, a hospital stay--money is never mentioned; it simply isnt in the equation. Medication is flat rate($10 per prescription). You can choose your own doctor. Get smart. This works for everyone from prime minster to junkie. Demand it!
@circusmaximus10 I have been a taxpayer in the US tho no longer live there. Look: you have health insurance? You know that when you get ill, it's going to cost you. If you have a partner and one of you loses your job either the health insurance or the mortgage goes unless youre donald trump. And dont think Europeans are getting "handouts" from the state! All they did was to provide a universal, compulsory insurance scheme NOT run for profit. Benefits? They look atfer you when your sick. Simple.
health insurance is so expensive and gives people a very mininal coverage. if i buy health insurance for my teeth, i only have a cerain amount to spend each year. my sister has her health care that allows her to spend only $1, 500 a year for her teeth. when she went to the desntist she ended up using $1, 200 for one visit becuse the care was very expnesive. i dont understand how an expensive health care would help me?
I love the part where he says if anything were to happen. Justin only pays the first 5 grand. lol only 5 grand. WOW This video talks a lot of shit without supporting facts.
With out any facts and fugues this video is just propaganda. And how will the commentator know what the (dufus) as he puts it can afford. I guess the dufus he is referring to , will represent you and me. Yes: is it even possible to get health insurance with a $5000.00 deductible in that State.
The maker of this video needs to read up on supply and demand economics. If everybody had healthcare, the price everybody would have to pay would go down. but misinformation is always prettier when its animated.
Wow! This has totally changed my mind about universal healthcare! I mean, sure, it may cover more people, be more fair and equitable and cost less money while providing the same or better services to more people, but I see now: Justin might have to pay more tax. And all tax is BAD! It doesn't matter if he'll actually be saving money, because he'll be paying more taxes! And that is BAD!
Blow me, right-wing shit heads. The health care reform law (NOT Obama's plan) is what it is because shit heads like you continue to elect corporatist assholes who suck satans cock while giving him a wrap around. The new health care law got me a year of free insurance coverage, so go suck a dick, fat ass!!!!
Yeah, I'm the dumb ass. I guess I imagined the part that went into effect in January 2011 that allows anybody under 26 to be covered under their parents' insurance for free. I guess I imaged that free trip to the dentist and I imagined those free fillings I got, and I imagined the free trip to the doctor. Go suck a dick you fat right-wing fucker!!! DEATH TO THE HUMANS!
@SnugglePuma You could be covered by your parents insurance for free before January '11. Everything else you say is a lie, as it was either paid for by your parents or other taxpayers. Nothing is free.
Simply not true. Before January only students under the age of 22 were covered. The new health care law extended that coverage to everyone under the age of 26. It wasn't paid for by my parents, and it wasn't paid for by the tax payers. It was paid for by the insurance company, so it was free for me, go suck a dick! Clearly you never bothered to read about this, you just heard "health care bad" and went along with it...
Do you even bother reading? Every insurance company in America is now required to cover children under the age of 26 free of charge. Why do you need it spelled out for you? Are you mentally handicapped or something? I think so...
@SnugglePuma First of all, I don't think you know what a wrap around is. Second of all, it ain't just the right-wing electing corporate assholes; the whole government, left and right, is full of special interests. Why do you think they pushed for this law and not a more complete coverage? Because Big Pharma and insurance is right there paying everyone off. If you think that's just because of Republicans, you are naive and believe the crap politicians spew.
It was free for me, sucker! Insurance rates might go up for suckers like you, but they would go up a hell a lot more with young people going to the ER when they get hurt because they are just starting out their careers and can't afford health coverage, can't get preventative care. I take what I can get, and then I say fuck you to any conservative scum bags who balk at the idea of helping people. Go pay for your coverage if you enjoy it so much you uptight shit head!
@SnugglePuma Who said I balk at the idea of helping people? I never said the current system was good; I myself am in a position of only being able to afford care for myself & not the rest of my family. You make the mistake of thinking that a) because this is bad, the reform here must be better, which is untrue & b) that it's the fault of the scummy right. You think the current problem is due to conservatives, which is naive. The world is not as black & white as you'd like it to be.
Seems fair. Creates balance in a country where income disparity has increased for decades. If the rich don't subsidize the poor, they will suffer too. Wealthy people probably don't want to live in a country like Mexico where they need gated communities and a private security force to protect them everywhere they go, so it's in their interest to help the workers. It's called 'mixed-market economy', and has been the foundation of American prosperity for more than 50 years...
@adhocrat1 Free markets have advantages, but free minds aren't synonymous with free markets. The main advantage of a free market is efficiency and profitability. This is good for some industries, but not for others. Do you really think efficiency and profitability are the most important tenants of a health care system? It's not profitable to provide expensive cancer treatment to patients, but it is the right thing to do. Also, the free market doesn't factor finite resources until it's too late.
efficiency and profitability are necessary for any good or service provided. Why would it be different for health care? Medical care follows the same law of supply and demand any other good or service does.
Health costs have risen dramatically in recent years not because of a failure of the free market but because there is no free market left in health care, except optional areas like plastic surgery, where prices have been much more stable. competition is a must.
@adhocrat1 So you're basically saying if someone gets sick and can't afford to pay for their care they should die. Wonderful. This is why I hate conservatives.
what a stupid ad............... everyone in the world knows that Americas health care system is broken, at least with this health care bill coming out you stupid Americans won't have to sneak into Canada anymore just to get your medicine
@Filo011 It can always get worse. Forcing people to buy insurance during a recession is bad news for the poor. We're going through a crisis where we can't figure out how to pay the budgets we already have in government, much less if we have government coverage extended for those who can't afford the new law. As a conservative it actually would go less against my ideals to be taxed for at least a universal opt-in plan as opposed to the state forcing me to buy a private service or product.
Free social healthcare? Ofcourse its crap. I mean, free access to health by any human being? Sinister! It is an evil that must be suppressed at all costs. Most "christian" conservative republicans from the crazy american south also agree. Jesus said that people should love other people only if they get paid for. Healthcare must run from managers and corporate executives only.
Herman Cain would have been dead if Obamacare was in effect. My daughter too. They was able to treat her cancer early and quick. You'll have everybody going in for a headache and stupid shit. Hospitals will be loaded. Take a look at a Steven Crowder in Canada trying to get into a hospital. Besides, I ask no quarter and I dont want to give any quarter. I dont need the government running my life. They are getting big under the Obama administration.
@JawsJaws Hahaha I'm sure you have the money to pay from your medical insurance, you know what is funny I live in a poor neighborhood and a kid of 7 years that could not pay to corporate insurance companies died because he did't got the right medical attention. Because people with low income could not pay for their medical bills my closest Hospital got closed so now to see my doctor I have to drive 2 hours. For the rich people is easy to say that they prefer pay high medical insurance policies
Does the government have the right to make people buy a product? Car insurance is a must buy because it takes 2 parties to involve in accident, and the party at fault must be responsible for the other party. Health problem occurs and virtually can't be blame at the society. Most of the time it's the individual who must deal with the illness. So why must society take responsibility of an individual?
@NoobSoldier2006 That's a chilling way of looking at life. I live in the UK, we have the NHS, I was born in an NHS hospital, I have been cared for by the NHS and my first child will be born in an NHS hospital in 2 weeks, if people need help they should get it. Even if you don't subscribe to this ideology and I stick with a fiscal one (like your comment) if the person stays healthy they are can work, pay tax, contribute to the local economy for longer thus helping the society which helped them
@squeezycheeseypeas NHS idea works if 100 people pays and only 1 person need expensive health care. This great NHS idea fails if 100 people pays for it and 90 people get sick. To make matter worst, 50 more illegal immigrants use the system based on doctors' idea of "save his life first and ask for payment later". It's great idea, but soon or later, the 100 who pays for it will die from starvation.
@NoobSoldier2006 You have a deep misunderstanding of how universal healthcare works. The NHS has been in continuous operation since 1948. Everyone pays everyone benefits. There is no profit motive, there is no insurance cost.
@squeezycheeseypeas Spoken like a true, useful idiot. The NHS is on the verge of bankruptcy. Too many of the doctors are incompetent and the NHS actually kills people by making them wait or denying them treatment. I know. It happened to me.
@steve0281 Rude to call me an idiot considering we haven't met. You display a lack of understanding how govt bodies are funded. They can't go bankrupt since they are not profit driven, they reduce costs according to existing budget but the private sector left a massive hole which is being paid for by tax payers and the NHS is bearing some of that load. From a person who has 2 parents, 1 grandparent, aunt, 1 cousin who survived cancer purely thanks to the NHS and a cousin with MS cared for daily
@squeezycheeseypeas "By their fruits ye shall know them." My wife is a doctor and she worked for the NHS. It is a house of cards ready to collapse. You sound just like the girlfriend/wife of the serial killer: "He was always nice to me." FTR, I know exaclty how government is funded. I worked for them for thirty years.
We have had free social care in centuries in Europe. That works excellent. Just like public schools are free. And dentist until you're 18 yo. Call it socialism. I don't care. It works. People don't die in the streets like in USA. Our problem is rich welloff right wing politicians who does not give a damn about poor people. A good advice: Listen to Warren Buffet. He is a modern (socialist?) Wake up at least. We don't live in the cold war anymore. We have a lot to do together. And I mean TOGETHER!
Americans almost mastrubate at there flag, so proud, but just dont care about there own people. You pay an amount of money that makes it possible for the sick pore people to get medical treatment. WHAT WRONG WITH THAT!? If U dont have any money, woudnt it be wonderfull if the people of america pays for your recovery? I just dont get it. A guy helped cleaning the shit from 9/11 and now has cancer because of the dust there. He has now a debt of $700.000. Rep voted against in in NY. Proud? My ass.
Give politicians power and it certainly will be abused eventually -- if not by today's politicians, then by their successors... The only true allegiance a politician has is to his own re-election
There ain't no ticks like poly-ticks. Bloodsuckers all.
i think actually there is only one big, big problem with America all along. Americans inspite of being kind and often generous people are also tremendously stubborn. I have hardly ever heard any American on youtube admit he or she was wrong, and that was not because they were in fact right! Please dont get me wrong on this....it's just something that've noticed...
Sure, for middle-class people, Universal Health Care is a bit inconvenient.
Now, what about the poor? As soon as a health issue comes up, they're fucked. They don't have money for insurance in the first place, so they end up paying for it all out of pocket. They then end up more poor, collecting welfare for longer, and in the long run, costing the government more.
"I guess that's okay if you think the govenment should run your life. I don't!"
- they arnt trying to run your life, they're trying to provide you with a free healthcare system...you know, the kind that is already operating in MOST other first world nations.
@BIGMUDDYDOG Well I guess it's okay for you to believe that. But the thing is, my government isn't tracking my every move at all. In fact the Netherlands are a great leader and pioneer in terms of freedom (of speech) and tolerance, we have been since the 18th century. My point is, the Dutch would and will not tolerate any act against their freedom and believe me, our healthcare system isn't against our freedom. In fact I do not have to worry about paying $10,000 for a CT-scan.
You see the government isn't at all closely involved. I hope you will (re)watch that video I talked about earlier, it is pretty well explained in there.
My Gov. only obligates insurance companies to accept everyone, or to be more precise, you must have an insurance, a company can refuse you but not all companies can, at least and at most one needs to take you in their system. We pay a monthly tax that goes to the insurance.
you would have to be a complete muppet not to be able to see through this..... Americans please please please help yourselves vote this bill in not a watered down version but the real thing, I just don't understand why you allow the insurance companies manipulate you like this. The type of people that wouldn't vote this in would leave their buddies dying on the battlefield.
In the UK: Healthcare free for ALL - our government owns our hospitals - and it doesn't matter if you are rich, poor, British or foreign. BUT, should you wish to be privately treated you can - and there are a range of private health insurance polices you can take out. Everyone is happy :D.
@EngOliAuz Americans HATE each other, they all think they pay for everyone else and they are tax payer No. 1. All jealous, bitter and hateful. They aren't a Nation, just a bunch of warped individuals.
Watch they don't call you an ist
Ists are Communist, Socailist, Pianist, Marxist, Organists or Maoists, anything that ends in IST they freak out over.
They wiped what? Half a million out in the American Civil War, now they want Civil War 2.
Conservative: “I really hate having my hard-earned money taken from me to pay taxes that go to the poor and unemployed. I could have used that money to buy a brand new car!” Liberal: “Typical greedy-Conservative! No Compassion! Sorry, you’re going to have to forego this year’s brand new car to do something good for once, like help the needy.” Unemployed Assembly Worker: “I wish people would just start buying new cars so I could get of these welfare checks and get my old job back!"
Obamacare is a piece of shit. Just leave me alone and don't make me buy anything. I'll bet you anything there will be lots of people like myself who won't buy health insurance. The prisons will be crowded. Mein Fuhrer Obama.
That was complete bullshit. I am suppose to believe that this person would can shell out 5000$ on the spot to pay for healthcare expense vs a rise in premiums which could be subsidized depending an his annal income. Btw thee subsidy is a tax credit so tax payer money isn't spent, plus its nothing compared to the money spent paying for all the/ services preformed and patient can not pay so its paid by tax dollars instead of insurance companies. Nothing but bullshit advertising.
I dont see why Obama's family is an exeption when it come to Obama care. Why would any honest leader inflict a mandate on his people but exempt his own family from it?
I am against Obama-Care for this reason only... I dont want the staggering majority of you to live long. Most of you are too stupid for your own good, you pollute the gene pool with low IQ fuctards. Obama care threatens all of that, it keeps you morons alive, and that is something that we do not need. We need most of you to die off, most of you arent worth keeping alive!
@GammaRay43 My God, you are a fucking idiot! I can't believe you just called me a racist! Fuck you! Really, fuck you! You have no idea what you're talking about old grandpa. Mexico HAS a small government. Politicians are assassinated by gangsters! That's big government to you? You know what, fuck you!"
Obama used it in the health care bill. It was used in the health care law. What is Obamas doing to R country. Dhimmitude, Never heard the word Till now. Google it, It's on page 107 of the healthcare bill. It is a REAL word. Dhimmitude Dhimmitude: the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. It is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.
Walked pass a couple garage sales of people selling their homes because they can't afford the taxes 12,000 and a modest home. They can't get a fair market value due to property taxes but will take a loss and move south. The budget was cut by 1.5 million yet their is still going to be a 3 cent increase due to increased health care cost. It's not going to get better in the future either.Something must be done about high property taxes that can't keep up with the public workers health care.
@rickbar123 There was a time when an employer paid for what they would call major medical.A broken arm then would cost maybe 3 pay checks, today maybe a year's salary. Either way ,Obamacare ,top private insurance, or no insurance, we will pay for it . The cost of someones treatment will be passed to you in one form or another. Our only sure bet is death and taxes.I do not want the public sector to lose their health care or you.
@rickbar123 Yes it is . If you get sick with a serious illness I am not willing to go into the details of the battery of testing and referrals of more specialist who order more testing that results in more specialist that order more testing . I am just referring to the cost jump in treatment over the decades comparing a broken arm.I know about the bailout . I also heard many stories of the great depression. We may just look back some time in the future and remember this as the good old days.
@thereinliestherib Corporate Welfarism is when companys give employees plenty of benefits and pays them very well so that employees give their loyalty to the company instead of a union or a idealology like
socialism. Post WW2 America was very much a socialist country. In order to break the employees from siding with the unions, companys felt it was wise to give very good benefits then claim they took beter care of the employees than the unions ever could. Now with low wage countrys companys -
@rickbar123 401k's are a good example of what you're talking about. Pensions are by nature unsustainable, but 401k's greatly disadvantage individual workers. They're sold as being these generous retirement products, when in reality they are loaded with fees, fund administrators make a lot of money while forcing all of the investment risk onto the worker. Likewise, corporations often get a profitshare, while also getting kickbacks for buying one firm's 401k plan over another.
I dont understand how it doesnt make sense to people. if you refuse to buy health insurance they basically make you buy it by making you pay into a pool of money so that when you get sick there's money there to pay for your care. Unless you mean to tell me that all these people that are mad because they are being forced by our communist/fascist leaders to buy health insurance, would rather just die in their homes than be taking to the ER? Thats BS. you wouldnt complain if you couldnt afford it.
@vre655u in order to understand Mussolini's quote, you must understand the European definition of liberalism, which translates to American libertarianism. American liberalism is more of a democratic socialism, which, while quite different than fascism, is fascism's opposite.
obamacare isn't intended to improve healthcare in America. It's intended to give the global elite (more power) they certainly don't need the money.. however money is power - so ...
This bill has saved thousands of lives, and if Justin wants to continue to pay 5 grand a year instead of 1 grand a year for his health insurance, then by all means go for it! The bill doesn't prevent you from keeping your insurance company. That's a lie. You should actually read the bill.
"Earlier this year, the Obama administration began rewarding its union friends and others with an escape from the clutches of Obamacare. Now one of the most outspoken Obamacare supporters - the man who actually said, “I wrote the bill … the bill and I are one” wants his own “get out of jail free” card from this abominable law."
@GammaRay43 Wow I can't believe he actually said that. But it also says that he was a strong advocate for a single payer system. Many Democrats believe that this bill will lead lead to that eventually and that's what the majority of American people want.
Consumer Reports representative was just on CNN stating that health reform will HELP LOTS OF PEOPLE.
P.S. Your little video with the measly $5000.00 deductible? That’s a third of some people’s annual income. Now, add in the premiums and you’re talking 50% of someone’s income. Take away their taxes, and you’re leaving them with...what?
What’s true is we have great medical care - what’s not true is that everyone can have it.
98% of Massachusetts citizens are now covered, btw.
As a resident of Massachusetts, I find our healthcare affordable and a great thing for my family. I dont see why people are so upset with universal healthcare. Top countries all have have it, why must America fight it. Republicans should know that the country is going in that direction and healthcare, yes needs some adjustments, takes care of the middle class people.
@mscmg14 .....Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed.
Now you want these nit-wits to control your health care who couldn't make money unning a whore house and selling booze?
If I get forced to pay for health care than I'm going to be pissed simply put... I choose what I want to buy, not the govt. There really shouldn't be any controversy over Obama care about it being unconstitutional or not... If Obama care is deemed constitutional than our checks and balances system might as well get thrown out the door because this shouldn't be happening
ill make this debate simply............not saying we should or shouldnt have health care but what about public education?....why does me as a tax payer with no children have to pay for all your childrens education? personally i dont give a shit about your child's education and to me im wasting my money...lol....all im saying
OMG he's forced to use tax payer money to buy something he can't afford....wait how does that work? How many guns have been pointed at people? How many have been labeled criminals and put behind bars? This video is a joke and skirts around the real debate of health care. This is what happens when some jerk thinks the audience is too dumb to deserve a real debate: BS propaganda.
My health insurance went up 50% so I just cancelled it. Thankfully I an eligible for VA free med and dental so that is my only coverage now. My wife is eligilible for ChampVA. She pays the first $3,000 after they negotiate cost with any Doctor. CHEAPER than $4800 plus co-pay. Obamacare wants to force all workers to pay and cost must go up because you will also pay for all the bums and their many children. All will have health benefits but only the working will pay and pay bigtime. O-care unfair?
C'mon America - wake up; just in case you have not noticed you are now in the twenty-first century. Universal health care is as much a citizens right as law and order and education. No-one - no family of a modern democratic society should have to face the possibility of bankruptcy because of illness or accident. Period.
@awakeamericanow Nobody should be forced by the government to pay for insurance. Period. I am 20 years old. I CAN'T AFFORD Universal Health Care (oh wait, UHC is free because it comes from tax dollars that come out of your wallet). No-one - no family of a modern DEMOCRATIC society (you know, the whole "we want a say") should have to face the possibility of being fined for refusing to pay UHC, and be faced with a gun when they refuse to pay the fine and when they refuse to go to jail.
heres something against obama care. think about the insurance companies. the government is forcing these companies to give people free healthcare. thats like the government walking up to a contractor and telling him he has to remodel someone's house for free. its unconstitutional!
@AlexAfferMetallica Actually they aren't being forced to provide care. They are being forced to provide minimum levels of care the same way the government forces auto companies and meat producers to use minimum standards to ensure safety.
@majinspy Well, your other comment is sort of frustrating. The point is, nobody should be forced to pay for health care if they don't want it. They shouldn't be forced to pay for a particular kind of care either.
And forcing insurance companies to cover more people sounds great, but remember that health care does cost money, and if you can't crank a profit, you go out of business. We can't just accumulate debt, someone has to pay it off (us and our children).
@NoNameC68 Well I can tell you that the Healthcare bill was rated deficit neutral so I pretty much dismiss the part about our children paying it off. We already pay for healthcare in this country, if we didn't poor people would be turned away from ER's. They aren't. Either we have to fully surround this thing with government, or we make it totally free market. In a total free market system there is no difference between medical care and a movie ticket. If you can't afford it, you can't get in.
@NoNameC68 Second post: Secondly, the only way to make the system work is if everyone is a member. Do you have a better idea? If we didn't, people would only get healthcare when they became sick. Now THAT would bankrupt insurance companies. That is, unless they simply rejected them and left them to die. What is the alternative?
I also still stand by my statement: this video is propaganda and skirts the real issues by pulling out the libertarian canard of "men with guns!".
@majinspy I believe coercion is a valid argument. You say it's propaganda, but regardless of what it is, the video remains true. We can't afford National Health Care unless we raise taxes. We can't have our entitlement program and low taxes too.
If you can't afford care, should you be left to die? Well, I believe you shouldn't be allowed to use other people's money to stay alive unless you're in a system.
Why give entitlements to the poor? Why not create jobs so we don't need entitlements?
@NoNameC68 It isn't true that people have been put in jail or had guns pointed at them over not having purchased health care. That is a reality and it WAS shown in the propaganda film. Secondly, we already pay for healthcare by not turning people away. You seem to suggest it, but not in a head-on way: you want to let people who can't afford health care die. Either you do, or you don't. It WILL take other people's money, or people WILL die.
@majinspy If you don't pay a fine, you go to jail. So no, they don't point a gun to your head if you're willing to pay them their health care, their fine, or you go to jail without a fight. No matter what, you're being forced.
We shouldn't steal from other people as a way to help sick people. It is immoral. If you knew someone who was ill, would you steal money from others to help them? Would you blame the person you stole from for being angry?
@majinspy Tax evasion. If you don't pay for national health care, it would be tax evasion or something similar. You're trying to turn this around on me. If nothing happens to people who don't pay for national health care, then why would it matter to make it a requirement in the first place?
Do I want to let people die so I can keep my own money? No. I want to establish charities and other organizations. I'm not a scumbag, and I'm not absent minded. But I have a right to be selfish regardless.
@majinspy National Health Care creates debt and unless we increase taxes to an unbelievably high rate, there's no way we could afford NHC. It would be devastating to increase taxes by so much in such little time. It will be devastating to allow debt to accumulate. We can't ruin the economy just so that we may help the sick. We shouldn't depend on the government to hold our hands. Anything we, the people, do would be cheaper if the gov. backed off.
@NoNameC68 1.) The health care bill was DEFICIT NEUTRAL. I've said this several times. You keep ignoring it. 2.) Noone's gone to jail, so I think showing a film with guns and bars is...BS. It would also be illegal to not pay taxes for police or fire protection. You are "forced" to pay to have your property protected from fire...even if you have a concrete house. 3.)Shove your copy of Atlas Shrugged. I can't stand you mal-adjusted, bitter-from-high-school, faux intellectuals.
@majinspy Deficit neutral? It doesn't pay for itself, especially with low taxes.
Your second statement contradicts itself, you seem to claim that you wont get in trouble if you don't pay for health care, but then you talk about how you would get in trouble for not paying other taxes and therefore the trouble you get in for not paying health care is justified. Which is it? You don't get in trouble for refusing to pay NHC or the trouble you get in is justified? One or the other?
@NoNameC68 It does pay for itself. Unless you don't want to force ER's to take sick people.
Your second point is valid, I was trying to have it both ways. I go with the 2nd explanation. Most people do not recognize a "right" to not pay taxes that support things like fire or police protection. If you don't pay, you go to jail. This is extremely rare and will not EVER happen to "bob" the 20-something on a bike in Massachusetts. Hence, my claim that the video was disingenuous.
Obamacare is ruled unconstitutional by Judge Vinson in Pensacola. This administration is proceeding anyway with implementation. There will soon be a contempt of court order issued and an injunction to enforce the ruling the administration does not obey. This is an impeachable offense as well. Just as there was a contempt of court order issued in the oil drilling moratorium so will it be here. This administration is not respectful of our laws nor our constitution.
Is it ridiculous for example that America is the only industrialized nation in the world that can't give its citizens access to healthcare, yet more money per person is spent on health care in the USA than in any other nation in the world.
@biggerturtle healthcare is a right. Just like education is a right, being happy is a right, religious freedom is a right, free enterprise is a right.
@CesarManiaX You don't know what a right is. A right is protection from the government, not entitlement. A right to health care means you are allowed to have health care and the gov. can't take it away from you. A right to happiness means you are allowed to be happy, it does not mean the gov. must provide you with happiness. A right to education, you can have, but not provided, blah blah.
Using your definition of right, a right to bear arms means the gov. should provide the people with guns!
I believe in responsible free market health care. Obama care is a waste of taxpayer money. But of course, congress does not care about that because they don't pay taxes.
Barefoot with Heytoot created a funny accurate video, one Quote is so true "Obama's Rape of the UNION" Barefoot translating O's meaning. Memory paraphrase - O Quote "I've heard rumors, some people still do not understand and fear the Ocare Law passed" Translation - "I have heard rumors some Americans support Ocare". My favorite quote from this Vid, My best, MrD =)
My two cents as a young, healthy Massachusetts resident who was required to get health insurance through our mandatory reform-- it was very very easy, VERY VERY affordable, and I felt safer having it. Direct from one horses mouth, I liked the change.
Htere are so many reforms that coudl take place right now. Does anyone realize that Medicare isn't need-based? Anyone of any income can qualify for Medicare - even the multimillion dollar snowbirds and retirees with fat pensions and continued insurance through their former employers. If we were to begin offering Medicare as a sliding scale insurance, we'd have enough money to cover the rest of the uninsured - without going into more debt. Just one idea.
If taxes covering healthcare is so bad, then ask the billionare Dick Cheney why he went to the veterans hospital for his heart surgery. He is rich enough to have gotten it done ANYWHERE and by ANYONE, yet he used OUR tax money- not to fix a broken toe, but to save his life. He trusted it to SAVE HIS LIFE.
You want taxes to be based on a percentage, yet Obama wanted Single Payer Option, which bases coverage on just that very thing, and you said "NO. It's not fair!" If you are lucky enough or rich enough to have healthcare, or have never been ROYAL SCREWED by the insurance companies in order for them to get an even bigger bonus, then I don't want to hear it from you!
It's funny that Republicans were all for FORCING us to get auto insurance a few years back. Could it be that it would GIVE money to the greedy Billionaire Fat Cats (who donate so much more to them then they do to any Democrats) while this may cost them some of their precious nickels and dimes? NONE OF YOU WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT, WERE YOU! Wake Up! Stop helping the rich to get richer and realize that we are the ONLY industrialized country on the planet without universal healthcare!
@littleladyinbigworld No one is forced to get auto insurance. It's a requirement to drive. You are not forced to drive. When you do drive, you are required to cover what you might do to someone else, not yourself. If you don't want to buy insurance, you have the option of depositing money at the DMV to cover costs in case you crash into someone.
To the idiot that said American healthcare in the world is 39th hmmm considering we have the largest production of drugs in the world for various ailments and can actually see a doctor the same day you go to a hospital trying doing that in canada, a country of only 30 million and you will still have problems...I don't know what stupid pole you read but these polls are usually taken by people who have never been out of the USA for THEIR OWN HEALTHCARE and then try to tell me it sucks...Hypocrites
Read Up on these situations people!!!! Especially if you don't go to countries with socialized medicine for LONG periods of time...Trust me when Michael Moore the porker writes a movie about how bad healtcare is here in the US and doesn't go and test Cuban healthcare for himself even though he raves about it, who the hell would listen to this pig??? In any other country he'd be dead because many wouldn't tolerate his obesity or wouldn't treat him because he is too heavy...TRUE!!! trust me
When you see the politicians who have exempted themselves from the type of Healthcare that they are trying to force us to have and damn Obama giving many unions a pass because they don't want it, then why do people still even take him (obama) seriously???..When we try to get alot of different over the counter (in the US) medications in Canada, they are so overregulated by their government that things like EXCEDRIN MIGRAIN, and many colon cancer drugs (because the gov. up there says too expensive
2 Books to read by 2 different Canadian doctors who don't like their system are; "The Cure" by David Gratzer and "The Top Ten Myths of American Healthcare", by Sally Pipes...I also own a home in Canada and alot of Canadians come down to the US for major treatments and tell me that they have a free healthcare card but it does not work that well when they actually have to use it...Finally Doctors will be so overburdened with new patients that many will retire Remeber people, 69% of doctors are 49+
This is rediculous. If this person cannot pay the new insurance permium, he can never pay the $ 5000,- if he gets sick.

The quality of life for the average American in the 21st century is going to take a deep, deep dive.
fireson23 1 week ago
And then the right wing nuts get outraged about the idea of having a single payer system!!! Ask any person who has lived over seas in another developed country which system would they rather have. Or even better tell the German, French, Canadian and Dutch people to give up their public funded health care systems so they can spend that money on defense to buy weapons in order to defend other people's countries and play (World policeman). They would call you stupid!
fireson23 1 week ago
Obama's healthcare changes don't go far enough. We spend $700 Billion/year on defense, at least $7 Trillion in 10 years to protect S.Korea, Japan and Germany keeping tens of thousands of troops over there while 50 million Americans here can't get access to proper health care if they get seriously sick. Meanwhile, Germans, S. Koreans and Japanese who we protect share gov funded single payer or semi private health care systems where all (100%) of their peoples get access to worry free health care.

The maker of this video needs to read up on supply and demand economics. If everybody had healthcare, the price everybody would have to pay would go down. but misinformation is always prettier when its animated.

Wow! This has totally changed my mind about universal healthcare! I mean, sure, it may cover more people, be more fair and equitable and cost less money while providing the same or better services to more people, but I see now: Justin might have to pay more tax. And all tax is BAD! It doesn't matter if he'll actually be saving money, because he'll be paying more taxes! And that is BAD!

Blow me, right-wing shit heads.
SnugglePuma 3 months ago
@SnugglePuma You could be covered by your parents insurance for free before January '11. Everything else you say is a lie, as it was either paid for by your parents or other taxpayers. Nothing is free.
jmn120176 3 months ago
@jmn120176
SnugglePuma 3 months ago
@SnugglePuma So the insurance company was nice enough to cover you free-of-charge? Gee, that's nice. What plan are you on, it sounds good. :p

Do you even bother reading? Every insurance company in America is now required to cover children under the age of 26 free of charge. Why do you need it spelled out for you? Are you mentally handicapped or something? I think so...
SnugglePuma 3 months ago
@SnugglePuma I think you don't quite realize what "free" means.
saberswordsmen1 3 months ago
@SnugglePuma First of all, I don't think you know what a wrap around is. Second of all, it ain't just the right-wing electing corporate assholes; the whole government, left and right, is full of special interests. Why do you think they pushed for this law and not a more complete coverage? Because Big Pharma and insurance is right there paying everyone off. If you think that's just because of Republicans, you are naive and believe the crap politicians spew.
saberswordsmen1 3 months ago
@saberswordsmen1
SnugglePuma 3 months ago

SnugglePuma 3 months ago
@SnugglePuma
or it could be the reason the economy is in the crapper. Steal our way to prosperity.
The 'mixed economy' is the reason for our current problems.
Free minds, free markets are the only way to go.
adhocrat1 3 months ago
@adhocrat1 Free markets have advantages, but free minds aren't synonymous with free markets. The main advantage of a free market is efficiency and profitability. This is good for some industries, but not for others. Do you really think efficiency and profitability are the most important tenants of a health care system? It's not profitable to provide expensive cancer treatment to patients, but it is the right thing to do. Also, the free market doesn't factor finite resources until it's too late.
SnugglePuma 3 months ago
@SnugglePuma
efficiency and profitability are necessary for any good or service provided. Why would it be different for health care? Medical care follows the same law of supply and demand any other good or service does.
Health costs have risen dramatically in recent years not because of a failure of the free market but because there is no free market left in health care, except optional areas like plastic surgery, where prices have been much more stable. competition is a must.

Healthcare must run from managers and corporate executives only.

NoobSoldier2006 4 months ago
@NoobSoldier2006 That's a chilling way of looking at life. I live in the UK, we have the NHS, I was born in an NHS hospital, I have been cared for by the NHS and my first child will be born in an NHS hospital in 2 weeks, if people need help they should get it. Even if you don't subscribe to this ideology and I stick with a fiscal one (like your comment) if the person stays healthy they are can work, pay tax, contribute to the local economy for longer thus helping the society which helped them
squeezycheeseypeas 4 months ago
@squeezycheeseypeas NHS idea works if 100 people pays and only 1 person need expensive health care. This great NHS idea fails if 100 people pays for it and 90 people get sick. To make matter worst, 50 more illegal immigrants use the system based on doctors' idea of "save his life first and ask for payment later". It's great idea, but soon or later, the 100 who pays for it will die from starvation.
NoobSoldier2006 4 months ago
@NoobSoldier2006 You have a deep misunderstanding of how universal healthcare works. The NHS has been in continuous operation since 1948. Everyone pays everyone benefits. There is no profit motive, there is no insurance cost.
squeezycheeseypeas 4 months ago
@squeezycheeseypeas Spoken like a true, useful idiot. The NHS is on the verge of bankruptcy. Too many of the doctors are incompetent and the NHS actually kills people by making them wait or denying them treatment. I know. It happened to me.
steve0281 3 months ago
@steve0281 Rude to call me an idiot considering we haven't met. You display a lack of understanding how govt bodies are funded. They can't go bankrupt since they are not profit driven, they reduce costs according to existing budget but the private sector left a massive hole which is being paid for by tax payers and the NHS is bearing some of that load. From a person who has 2 parents, 1 grandparent, aunt, 1 cousin who survived cancer purely thanks to the NHS and a cousin with MS cared for daily

@appapo3 take away their health care, we should all not have health care
rickbar123 9 months ago
@rickbar123 There was a time when an employer paid for what they would call major medical.A broken arm then would cost maybe 3 pay checks, today maybe a year's salary. Either way ,Obamacare ,top private insurance, or no insurance, we will pay for it . The cost of someones treatment will be passed to you in one form or another. Our only sure bet is death and taxes.I do not want the public sector to lose their health care or you.
appapo3 9 months ago
@appapo3 I think is is more complex than that. Did you ever here of a term called 'Corporate Welfarism" ???
rickbar123 9 months ago
@rickbar123 Yes it is . If you get sick with a serious illness I am not willing to go into the details of the battery of testing and referrals of more specialist who order more testing that results in more specialist that order more testing . I am just referring to the cost jump in treatment over the decades comparing a broken arm.I know about the bailout . I also heard many stories of the great depression. We may just look back some time in the future and remember this as the good old days.

Yeah, it's called the Obamacare insurance mandate. Yet none on the left seem the wiser...
thereinliestherib 9 months ago
@thereinliestherib Corporate Welfarism is when companys give employees plenty of benefits and pays them very well so that employees give their loyalty to the company instead of a union or a idealology like
socialism. Post WW2 America was very much a socialist country. In order to break the employees from siding with the unions, companys felt it was wise to give very good benefits then claim they took beter care of the employees than the unions ever could. Now with low wage countrys companys -
rickbar123 9 months ago
@rickbar123 401k's are a good example of what you're talking about. Pensions are by nature unsustainable, but 401k's greatly disadvantage individual workers. They're sold as being these generous retirement products, when in reality they are loaded with fees, fund administrators make a lot of money while forcing all of the investment risk onto the worker. Likewise, corporations often get a profitshare, while also getting kickbacks for buying one firm's 401k plan over another.
thereinliestherib 9 months ago
I dont understand how it doesnt make sense to people. if you refuse to buy health insurance they basically make you buy it by making you pay into a pool of money so that when you get sick there's money there to pay for your care. Unless you mean to tell me that all these people that are mad because they are being forced by our communist/fascist leaders to buy health insurance, would rather just die in their homes than be taking to the ER? Thats BS. you wouldnt complain if you couldnt afford it.
captaincholera 10 months ago
@vre655u in order to understand Mussolini's quote, you must understand the European definition of liberalism, which translates to American libertarianism. American liberalism is more of a democratic socialism, which, while quite different than fascism, is fascism's opposite.

This bill has saved thousands of lives, and if Justin wants to continue to pay 5 grand a year instead of 1 grand a year for his health insurance, then by all means go for it! The bill doesn't prevent you from keeping your insurance company. That's a lie. You should actually read the bill.

Period.
awakeamericanow 11 months ago
@awakeamericanow Nobody should be forced by the government to pay for insurance. Period. I am 20 years old. I CAN'T AFFORD Universal Health Care (oh wait, UHC is free because it comes from tax dollars that come out of your wallet). No-one - no family of a modern DEMOCRATIC society (you know, the whole "we want a say") should have to face the possibility of being fined for refusing to pay UHC, and be faced with a gun when they refuse to pay the fine and when they refuse to go to jail.
NoNameC68 11 months ago
heres something against obama care. think about the insurance companies. the government is forcing these companies to give people free healthcare. thats like the government walking up to a contractor and telling him he has to remodel someone's house for free. its unconstitutional!
AlexAfferMetallica 11 months ago
@AlexAfferMetallica Actually they aren't being forced to provide care. They are being forced to provide minimum levels of care the same way the government forces auto companies and meat producers to use minimum standards to ensure safety.
majinspy 11 months ago
@majinspy Well, your other comment is sort of frustrating. The point is, nobody should be forced to pay for health care if they don't want it. They shouldn't be forced to pay for a particular kind of care either.
And forcing insurance companies to cover more people sounds great, but remember that health care does cost money, and if you can't crank a profit, you go out of business. We can't just accumulate debt, someone has to pay it off (us and our children).
NoNameC68 11 months ago
@NoNameC68 Well I can tell you that the Healthcare bill was rated deficit neutral so I pretty much dismiss the part about our children paying it off. We already pay for healthcare in this country, if we didn't poor people would be turned away from ER's. They aren't. Either we have to fully surround this thing with government, or we make it totally free market. In a total free market system there is no difference between medical care and a movie ticket. If you can't afford it, you can't get in.
majinspy 11 months ago
@NoNameC68 Second post: Secondly, the only way to make the system work is if everyone is a member. Do you have a better idea? If we didn't, people would only get healthcare when they became sick. Now THAT would bankrupt insurance companies. That is, unless they simply rejected them and left them to die. What is the alternative?
I also still stand by my statement: this video is propaganda and skirts the real issues by pulling out the libertarian canard of "men with guns!".
majinspy 11 months ago
@majinspy I believe coercion is a valid argument. You say it's propaganda, but regardless of what it is, the video remains true. We can't afford National Health Care unless we raise taxes. We can't have our entitlement program and low taxes too.
If you can't afford care, should you be left to die? Well, I believe you shouldn't be allowed to use other people's money to stay alive unless you're in a system.
Why give entitlements to the poor? Why not create jobs so we don't need entitlements?
NoNameC68 11 months ago
@NoNameC68 It isn't true that people have been put in jail or had guns pointed at them over not having purchased health care. That is a reality and it WAS shown in the propaganda film. Secondly, we already pay for healthcare by not turning people away. You seem to suggest it, but not in a head-on way: you want to let people who can't afford health care die. Either you do, or you don't. It WILL take other people's money, or people WILL die.
majinspy 11 months ago
@majinspy If you don't pay a fine, you go to jail. So no, they don't point a gun to your head if you're willing to pay them their health care, their fine, or you go to jail without a fight. No matter what, you're being forced.
We shouldn't steal from other people as a way to help sick people. It is immoral. If you knew someone who was ill, would you steal money from others to help them? Would you blame the person you stole from for being angry?
Coercion is never the answer.
NoNameC68 11 months ago
@NoNameC68 So how many have gone to jail? Oh wait, 0, ok. What's the jail term? Where in the law is there jail time even defined?
majinspy 11 months ago
@majinspy Tax evasion. If you don't pay for national health care, it would be tax evasion or something similar. You're trying to turn this around on me. If nothing happens to people who don't pay for national health care, then why would it matter to make it a requirement in the first place?
Do I want to let people die so I can keep my own money? No. I want to establish charities and other organizations. I'm not a scumbag, and I'm not absent minded. But I have a right to be selfish regardless.
NoNameC68 11 months ago
@majinspy National Health Care creates debt and unless we increase taxes to an unbelievably high rate, there's no way we could afford NHC. It would be devastating to increase taxes by so much in such little time. It will be devastating to allow debt to accumulate. We can't ruin the economy just so that we may help the sick. We shouldn't depend on the government to hold our hands. Anything we, the people, do would be cheaper if the gov. backed off.
NoNameC68 11 months ago
@NoNameC68 1.) The health care bill was DEFICIT NEUTRAL. I've said this several times. You keep ignoring it. 2.) Noone's gone to jail, so I think showing a film with guns and bars is...BS. It would also be illegal to not pay taxes for police or fire protection. You are "forced" to pay to have your property protected from fire...even if you have a concrete house. 3.)Shove your copy of Atlas Shrugged. I can't stand you mal-adjusted, bitter-from-high-school, faux intellectuals.
majinspy 11 months ago
@majinspy Deficit neutral? It doesn't pay for itself, especially with low taxes.
Your second statement contradicts itself, you seem to claim that you wont get in trouble if you don't pay for health care, but then you talk about how you would get in trouble for not paying other taxes and therefore the trouble you get in for not paying health care is justified. Which is it? You don't get in trouble for refusing to pay NHC or the trouble you get in is justified? One or the other?
NoNameC68 11 months ago
@NoNameC68 It does pay for itself. Unless you don't want to force ER's to take sick people.
Your second point is valid, I was trying to have it both ways. I go with the 2nd explanation. Most people do not recognize a "right" to not pay taxes that support things like fire or police protection. If you don't pay, you go to jail. This is extremely rare and will not EVER happen to "bob" the 20-something on a bike in Massachusetts. Hence, my claim that the video was disingenuous.
majinspy 11 months ago
Obamacare is ruled unconstitutional by Judge Vinson in Pensacola. This administration is proceeding anyway with implementation. There will soon be a contempt of court order issued and an injunction to enforce the ruling the administration does not obey. This is an impeachable offense as well. Just as there was a contempt of court order issued in the oil drilling moratorium so will it be here. This administration is not respectful of our laws nor our constitution.

biggerturtle 11 months ago
@CesarManiaX You don't know what a right is. A right is protection from the government, not entitlement. A right to health care means you are allowed to have health care and the gov. can't take it away from you. A right to happiness means you are allowed to be happy, it does not mean the gov. must provide you with happiness. A right to education, you can have, but not provided, blah blah.
Using your definition of right, a right to bear arms means the gov. should provide the people with guns!

If Dick Cheney went to the VA for care that meant he was entitled to the services - either through his gov't job or past military service.
ichoosehope 11 months ago
Htere are so many reforms that coudl take place right now. Does anyone realize that Medicare isn't need-based? Anyone of any income can qualify for Medicare - even the multimillion dollar snowbirds and retirees with fat pensions and continued insurance through their former employers. If we were to begin offering Medicare as a sliding scale insurance, we'd have enough money to cover the rest of the uninsured - without going into more debt. Just one idea.
ichoosehope 11 months ago
If taxes covering healthcare is so bad, then ask the billionare Dick Cheney why he went to the veterans hospital for his heart surgery. He is rich enough to have gotten it done ANYWHERE and by ANYONE, yet he used OUR tax money- not to fix a broken toe, but to save his life. He trusted it to SAVE HIS LIFE.
littleladyinbigworld 11 months ago
You want taxes to be based on a percentage, yet Obama wanted Single Payer Option, which bases coverage on just that very thing, and you said "NO. It's not fair!" If you are lucky enough or rich enough to have healthcare, or have never been ROYAL SCREWED by the insurance companies in order for them to get an even bigger bonus, then I don't want to hear it from you!
littleladyinbigworld 11 months ago
It's funny that Republicans were all for FORCING us to get auto insurance a few years back. Could it be that it would GIVE money to the greedy Billionaire Fat Cats (who donate so much more to them then they do to any Democrats) while this may cost them some of their precious nickels and dimes? NONE OF YOU WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT, WERE YOU! Wake Up! Stop helping the rich to get richer and realize that we are the ONLY industrialized country on the planet without universal healthcare!
littleladyinbigworld 11 months ago
@littleladyinbigworld No one is forced to get auto insurance. It's a requirement to drive. You are not forced to drive. When you do drive, you are required to cover what you might do to someone else, not yourself. If you don't want to buy insurance, you have the option of depositing money at the DMV to cover costs in case you crash into someone.
