  • where did you get this airplane? who produced it? wilco?

  • @FSXHowTo It's the default 737 in FS9.

  • @rennes6 really? i thought fsx carries fs9 with it o.0. i like the 737-300 but i only have a few freeware 737s. but they dont have a virtual cockpit

  • Do you have any actual flight training and flight time, I'm just curious?

  • No, I don't have any.

I was really into flight simulation 2-3 years ago - I learned a lot of things, spoke to real pilots, joined a VA and on almost every evening, I was on VATSIM. That changed when I started to have more work to do so nowadays I only watch aviation videos and completely abandoned MSFS. I hope someday it will change.

I really want to achieve PPL, but prices here in Hungary are very high, compared to the US. A PPL near my place costs about 10 000 bucks excluding training books.

  • I know that is even more expensive everywhere else to fly than in the US, and even here I'm really struggling to get my commercial and instructor ratings, even so it will take me another 1.5 to 2 years.

I've had to sacrifice almost everything else in my life to be able to fly, and if I had a wife and kids, I might as well forget it.

You seem to have a pretty good grasp for someone who never flew, I hope you get a chance to pursue the aviation field one day. I wish you good luck.

  • You can go visual any time you wish, weather permitting. Most of the fligh, other than airliners, is done visual , so most pilots prefer to do that. Only reason the airliners even use IFR approaches is not because weather, it is becasue during IFR flight you are in ATC controlled flight the whole time, so you actually have your own space bubble in the sky reserved just for you. As soon as any pilot has turned final they would all prefer to go visual ASAP.

  • Thanks for commenting. What I really meant "late" for the visual app was simply that my distance to the threshold for rw 31 compared to my distance demanded a steeper descent than usual.

  • Compared to my altitude, sorry.

  • No problem, it's OK to come in steep, there are some airports that even have a glideslope of 5.5 degrees, almost twice of he normal, or usual, glideslope.

As long as you control your airspeed properly a even a 6 degree glideslope shouldnt be a problem.

Your touchdown was really nice, but while watching, I was really trying to see your approach speed control, I couldn't see it well, so I can't really comment on the rest of theapproach other than it looked like a good approach.

  • Agreed.

Speed control: I made this video a long time ago therefore I cannot recall the exact details. As I see, I set the bug to Vfref approx 120 kts and I landed on the bug setting. Last phase of the app was made Vref + +-7 as I see.

  • The approach airspeeds do change in hte airliners, I couldn't even begin to guess what an actuall approach in a 737 is like without havein an actual 737 pilot next to me correcting me.

I do have quite a few flight hours in single prop engines including complex and high preformance aircraft, so I do know how important that approach speed is even to a T182T. Even 5 kts makes a difference of 500+ feet in landing distance. I can only imagine what it does to a 150,000 pound airplane.

  • I did however get a Beech 1900 pilot walk me though the steps of an approach and the flare. WOW is one word, usually we reduce power completely over the runway and glide the plane on to the runway.

In the Beech 1900, you actually hold some power in until you level off, a few seconds before the actual touchdown, then once in ground effect you reduce the whole power and glide it on to the runway, otherwise you're going to have a rough landing.

    Little neuances like that :)

  • program name PLEASE

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 9.

  • nice visual landing... very smooth... :)

  • thats cool but what game is that

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 9.

  • Flight Simulator9 ok but you shoud try flight simulatorX it a good one

  • I own a copy but I need a more powerful computer ;)

  • you just need a ATI RadeonX1300 thats what i have i dont no how much money it is i got it used for 60$ but you can get on ebay or walmart for 150$ its a lot but its worth it

  • Thanks, I have a X1950Pro. My CPU is not enough, it's a single-core P4 at 3 Ghz.

  • 2GB RAM

    Intel celeron D - 2.93GHz

    sapphire x1950 512mb

    windows XP (SP2)

    can i run fsx well?

  • I don't think so. Your processor won't make it. The VGA seems to be OK for medium performance.

  • yeah......sorry, what does VGA mean ?

  • hey check the guys videos out his you tube name is '' samjells123 '' his specs are

    Windows XP SP2

    AMD Athlon 64 @ 2Ghz

    ATI sapphire x1950 pro 512mb

    1GB of RAM

    FSX with SP1 and SP2

and his fsx runs smoothly, my specs are little better, what do you think ? thanks alot appreciate it :)

  • Unless there are no clouds, buildings, aerodromes, a demanding aircraft... you know what I mean. You can run FSX, I could run it also but for serious commercial flights with an addon aircraft it would be simply not enjoyable.

  • hmm i see your point, does fs9 come with the 737-800? ( no PMDG though ) ? thanks

  • No, only the default B734 (737-400) as you see in this video. PMDG is an 'upgrade option'.

  • ahh i see, do you know where i can download the air scheffel plane? if you do could you give me the link and possibly instructions how to to download it, that would be great ( in my inbox, leave the link etc ) thanks

  • i know these processors are still pretty bad, but which one would you think is best for FS9 ONLY, a intel celeron D, or a intel pentium 4 ? thanks alot

  • The Pentium 4 has way better computing capabilities, it's simply more powerful. Go for it.
