You knonw what really happened? He locked his knees and cut off his circulation, it happens when you stand for long preiods of time. Wiggling your toes or flexing your knees are good ways to avoid this.

Woke up few secs later feeling really happy and light-headed though. In my case, the cause of my faint was the dress I was wearing was extremely heavy and the fact I didn't eat lunch. :\
The fact that I don't understand is why your sister is just standing there - doing nothing. If my sister (I don't have a brother) fainted at my wedding - I would be worried about her and forget about the ceremony. I would rush to her in order to see if she was all right... so would my boyfriend / husband to be...
i'm sorry you fainted, but this video is helpful to me cause I've fainted a couple times, once due to head trauma, and once because of a virus, but the most recent one( the virus)was so strange cause I had a fever,and I felt really dizzy & I remember KNOWING I was gonna pass out and I had to get to my mom... both times I made it to my mom and then passed out...I remember trying to reach for something to hold on to but it was too late...I hate that feeling of not knowing how you got on the floor!

I DON'T KNOW WHY THE HELL CHURCH BUILDERS PUT STEPS IN REALLY REALLY LOUSY PLACES like the altar... falling down with your head just past that down-step, you could easy have broken your neck. Internal decrapitation, I think it is called. Glad you are okay.
BTW, thanks for describing your sensation of fainting. Do you remember how you felt JUST PRIOR to fainting, the 5 seconds or so before ?

@DancingSpiderman I was riding my bike along a main drag in Albuquerque NM, near a big mall, & I looked behind me to watch for cars before proceeding across the mall entrance. I did not see or hear the Suzuki Samarai. Some damn crazy woman tried to rush in front of me into the mall entrance whilst I was in the middle of the entrance. The rear right of the Samarai hit my front tire, and I INSTANTLY hit the asphalt road with my top left head. The worst pain ever for split second. Then nothing.

If I am sitting on the floor for a while then suddenly stand up my vision goes dark and I can't hear anything for a few seconds and if there is nothing nearby to grab onto I sit back down.......However the standing black out is much more dangerous and will not clear up like the "stood-up-too-fast one".....I have experience with the second type. The moment you feel like your vision is going SIT DOWN.

@Nat4Brendan overwhelming for some, hangover for others(maybe). Weddings are so beautiful, I haven't been to one where any faints, but I have witnessed many falling tears and nervousness from grooms, but they make it through, sweat, tears and all.
@Nat4Brendan Good question, but I guess in a technical sense they locked their knees from nervousness. I made the mistake during a choir concert of locking my knees and fainting in front of hundreds of people. Remember, don't lock your knees. :D

Wow...I read your description. I'm 14 and I've passed out three times in my life, and no one knows why. The doctors just look at me and just shrug it off, and each time the fainting gets worse. The last time I did, I couldn't speak, and my mind was gone. All I could do was think. It's not fun, and you shouldn't be glad you got to experience it. I had that happen to me as a kid, we were in church, standing and singing when suddenly my vision clouded over, and I sat down so suddenly I literally fell off the pew and my mom literally had to pick me up and take me to the washroom to splash my face with cold water. I dont remember doing that but she did:/

I fainted at school on Friday.(I'm an 8th grader) I was walking down the hall, holding on to my friends shoulder cuz i felt like I was gonna pass out, then the next thing I know, mr. Oconnor and all my teachers are picking me up and guiding me to the nurses office. Weird, weird feeling fainting.

I fainted today at a collectors dollshouse fair and the lady at the stall dropped the price of something for me and i was tryin to say thanks but i couldnt and my mum turned round to tell me to say thank you but then i lost sight,hearing and than consiousness and collapsed lucky for me my mum could she i was about to faint and caught me and laied me down and a few minutes later i woke up and a lady got me a chair and water.I've never fainted b4 and always wondered but i felt peaceful :)

@BlueStarDiamont5 Because when they are standing up they tend to lock their knees and blood then can't circulate through the body and then they faint.

Wow...I read your description. I'm 14 and I've passed out three times in my life, and no one knows why. The doctors just look at me and just shrug it off, and each time the fainting gets worse. The last time I did, I couldn't speak, and my mind was gone. All I could do was think. It's not fun, and you shouldn't be glad you got to experience it. I don't think it's a good feeling, it's one of the worst feelings in the world to feel paralyzed. Whatever. Congratulations?

@Tiffmidon This has happened to me 4x now...the last time at school (so embarrasing) but i went to the doctors & found out I have low blood pressure...so i just keep that up! You may grow out of it but the doctors shouldnt just shrug it off!
