  • My theme song. . He sums it up as it was then perfectly

  • actually Auusie girls hate dark celtic looks. I had much more luck in Europe.

  • OMG this song pretty much sums up my short life...

  • this song is from packed to the rafters.. the dad in packed to the rafters claimes to have written it in one of the episodes..

  • theres a song thats been driving me insane for years cause i havent heard it in years i dont even rememeber any of it! all i remember is the singer singing sumfin then wuld go 'ba ba ba b b ba ba ba'. im fair sure it was an aussie song, do u kno wat im talking about?

  • @MrBl0nd3

I think you are looking for "slice of heaven" by Dave Dobbin and the Herbs

  • What about, Half Time at the Football? I can't find that anywhere

  • i like his first band better Pus, first aussie punk band.

  • Always loved this song, thanks for uploading.

ps I hope DW got a root from his moment of fame, it's only fair.

  • This song must never have made it to NZ in the late 70s, I've never heard it before. But I was pretty young there. But I would have remembered it. Anyone else from NZ remember it?

  • can't believe you have this as well as the many other great aussie songs.

    you're a youtube legend nzoz.

  • @custompipes1 than you, i really appreciate it!

  • Classic song that still holds true today. Loved this song way back when and I still love it now - even more so. Thanks for uploading all of this great stuff nzoz. More power to you. Keep up the good work!

  • @MrAdamakakis THank you... i intend too.

  • He told it like how it was in Perth when he use to live here....Love this song reminds me of those posers when I use to go out...poor sad guys....but they were funny liked the normal guys back then...lol

  • First heard it when he sang it on Roy and HG's Club Buggery. Definitely still true in the '90s. Presumably it always will be.

  • heard this on packed to the rafters lol

  • Flynny again, any chance you have Convict Streak on your list? Had the cassette in my Sandman back in the old days, they did it at the Bon Scott Memorial gig a couple of years ago here in Perth, awesome song!

  • @flynnyboy100 i'll put that track on my nzozaudio very soon!

  • @nzoz1978 Thanks heaps!

  • @nzoz1978 Howdy Mate, have you found Convict Streak yet? Cheers, Flynny.

  • @nzoz1978 Found it yet?

  • @flynnyboy100 ugh... yeah! Give me a bit of time! Sorry

Too many women in my life

  • Saw him perform this live at an outdoor festival in Parramatta in 78 , seems like another person in another in another life now , best times of my life and I didnt know it......

  • What is horrifying about this fantastic track is - it is as relevent to the young men now as it was to me in the eighties. Human nature does not change and this song is timeless.

  • @brismike65

very true... although i wouldn't say my case or persona is as unfortunate as the subject is, in this song; I will say that living in Sydney can make you feel subhuman among those who are your neighbours and co-workers. Sad, but true. Even those who are doing well in Sydney are made to feel like failures....

  • @nzoz1978 Brisbane is the same. So is Melbourne. It's an Australian thing that Dave captured well. Interesting the Dave went on to write a wonderful book on Countdown. His music was ironic. He had that tennis song as I recall.

  • What people don't understand about this song is Dave sang it without a fakeAmerican accent...but you've got to love the idea of the clip being set in a speed dating club.

  • Funnier even than Dave and the band's performance is the acting of the "cool people" from Perth in... when was it... 1979?

Excellent fun was had by all. A cheap as chips 16mm shoot done in about 4 hours.

  • And it is like an iconic Perth song...and try to explain it to some people...you can't you have to be an aussie to understand this and be a suburban person...

  • Never rejected or neglected. Never paid for a drink either. Never paid Cover Charge, just said "I'm with the band". Those were the days.

  • I never got rejected either, but I was a Suburban Girl.

  • any one got any dick and the dames or loaded dice .. or ichie feet . or tinia brothers from perth in the 70s you can put up and let us see. love to find the guy from loaded dice and talk to him the singer that is, seen them at steves nedlands. pub every week.

  • @ratrodralphy. Trying to send you replies about Loaded Dice, did you get them? Haven't used this before & it keeps telling me my reply has been rejected????

  • funny that ,, i never got neglected in perth in the 70s.

  • God this takes me back, where did the years go lol

  • makes me glad my son was raised in the cbd. yay me!

  • You can take the boy out of the 'burbs but you can't take the 'burbs out of the boy! Fanatastic song. One of my all time favourites.

  • Dave, the ultimate suburban rocker. Saw him live so many times. Just soooo funny. Great stage presence.

  • Sounds like something out of "Square Pegs".

  • i'm just a subourbon boy

  • the bogan national anthem

and you thought bogan was new

    LOVE THIS SONG

  • remember seeing this on Sounds hosted by Donnie Sutherland...fucking grouse song

  • grandee!

  • Go Dave!

  • Dave would always cause a near riot when he'd get up on stage. I was a reporter working in Wollongong in the late 70s, and I was sent to see her perform - and say the fuck word. The cops had warned him not to. But he did! They shut him down, and a riot then took place. Classic night out! This brings back great memories!

  • that's awesome

  • Guess you'll never forget a night like that :P

  • I still got his album on vinyl.

  • awesome

  • I'm pretty sure there was no clip for 'Mugs Game' I saw him heaps of times at the VIC, in suby. There was a tape made, called Live at the Vic which has some really good tracks, actually, there all good.

  • That the one with 'Derek and Sandra' in it?

  • Yep, thats the one.. I'm sure i've seen that tape round here somewhere lately.

  • Was there ever a clip for "Mugs Game"? I know next to nothing about Dave Warner (way before my time), but I heard that song a few years back and thought it was pretty awesome.

  • I remember seeing Dave Warner at the Shenton Park hotel (Perth) in the late 70's. The place went completely 'off' with everyone standing on the tables and chairs. Couldn't see the band but had a bloody good time.

  • The Shents, the bastards got rid of it.

    Saw Painters and Dockers there.

  • does any body know the guitar cords

    that would be ace.[off tap]Thanks.

  • Suburban Rock. GO LEPPO!!!

  • nzoz-

now..just save yourself some time, face, and embarrassment in trying to think up some frivolous comeback and go do something productive...face it, this ridiculous argument is finished; i have no more time to waste with you... but i know asking that of you would be like trying to keep a wolf from a ribeye..

  • ha, ha, ha - you lumberjack! The last line kills me.

  • Nzoz1978, I didnt say he did Punk before the poms!

Have another read! He was doing; "AUSY PUNK"..... If you get embarrassed making comments and being afraid of putting em up thats a seperate issue, mate you been on these pages for over a year, Im glad I touched a nerve! Ya got somethin ta say, say it! Dont be shy, we wont care.. theres plenty of Dickheads dribbling shit here!

  • yeah, i get what you're saying. i had another read.

in responding to mpc3po, i just don't have time to do so...

  • nzoz1978, Ok now if ya can help me find the chords progression I'll be mighty greatfull! Ive got the lyrics, got the original single(vynil) i just need the chords, either that or i have too get someone to translate it for me an thats a pain in the arse! Besides I dont want these others to get a wind of what im playing! Cheers.

  • i have a good sense of talent, good song writing, and intuition..i don't need to know shit about this gay rubbish to state an opinion that it is weak and lame

  • Grow up.

  • mpc3po why listen then? you homophobic poofter!

  • i don't.. i only listened once Fag! I don't know where in the world you come up with homophobic!?*--? ...freak. What is the band a bunch of homos or something?

  • mpc3po; real straight men do not go about calling other men 'fag' and 'homo' - even if a real straight man speculates that another man may be gay.

Do you know why a real straight man does not about calling other men 'fag' and 'homo'? Because real straight men are too occupied with either thinking about women or forming relationships with women. Real straight men are too female-crazy to even care about another man's sexual orientation, yet alone comment.

  • I know this because I am a real straight man. When I'm not uploading video clips on youtube; I'm fucking women or befriending gay men who happen to be really good friends with a girl that I want to fuck. Yes, thanks to gay men, I have managed to fuck gorgeous women - simply because their gay friend had introduced me to them. The more gay men out there, the better it is for a straight man like me to get laid.

  • are you even aware how idiotic and deranged you are? you are so bored with your life that you need to put so much ridiculous thought into nothing; projecting your insecurities onto others; and obviously you are NOT getting laid, because anyone who has to exaggerate and verbally tell people that they get laid a lot and that he is a 'real' straight man, is certainly insecure and surely not getting laid !! upload some more clips and then go to your ritual porn sights and keep jerkin off coolio.

  • LOL, now I'm really enjoying this!

Don't scratch your head too hard to think up come back, coz bits of your brain will get clogged up in your fingernails.

This is the only time I've actually spoken about what I get up to outside the internet. You just don't have the intelligence to see how much of an advantage gay men actually are. I mean, what do you want? More straight men to compete with?

I didn't tell you what I get up to because I wanted to impress you or others.

    THINK!!!!

  • mpc3po you r absolutely right. I am a fag and the band are a bunch of homos. Why don't u come downunder and visit us all? >> we will send you back home with a pack of tampons jammed up ur ass! lmao

  • shakin!....

  • it's easy to sit behind a computer and 'shake'!

  • you sure do know don't you..you sit n shake behind one everyday and night

  • you're the one who responded with 'shakin!...', so don't throw that back at me when I'm not the one who said it.

  • why is he slobbering?... synth line is cool, the rest of the songs is total rubbish, the hook is weak n lame

  • mpc3po! You obviously are younger than 35? It was ausie punk before the poms bought there style over.... You'd have to be Australian an over 30 to understand?? Spose ya think mad max has piss weak car chase scenes as well?

  • I'm under 35 and I get it. This song didn't come out before the poms picked up on punk... but Dave was doing the punk thing as far back as 1972. I was going to reply to mpc3po's comment but decided not to bother.

It's been years since I've made an impulsive comment on something I know little about. Seeing others do it reminds me of the times I embarrassed myself when I did.

  • LOL at 2.01 - he's got Russell Crowe on bass!!!!

  • Jesus it was great as a kid in the perth in those days to hear a hit song with somebody singing with an Aussie accent - and a local too!

I was too young then for pubs n drinking but my big bros weren't and "From the suburbs" was played every time before they'd go out.

I work with Phil from Loaded Dice these days too.

Sorry to hear about leopard - a face you'd never forget and top bloke to boot -he was a seasoned campaigner when I knew him in late 80's.

    RIP - & Christie Allen too (12/8/08)

I used to dance like a man possessed.... even if I was the only one on the floor. Favourite venue was the BROADWAY TAVERN. I taped about 100 gigs, and still have about 20 cassettes left, the rest were stolen. I have a copy of THE ALBERT TAPES. Yep, life was great then. I used to ride a SUZUKI 650 KATANA.. and If I wasn't pissed... I was stoned. Now i'm 55 and fucked. CHEERS.
