Kids are obviously confused about things like love and where babies come from. Hell, they're confused about basic algebra. My mom is the same way. She thinks gays should be allowed the same rights as married couples, but not actually get married. I don't get it. Marriage happens between two people who love each other. I'm proud I voted for him. As a homosexual myself I can fully understand where he's coming from on this issue and if people actually took their blinders off they'd see that Barack feels the same way about this issue. I feel that everyone should be entitled to the same rights regardless of orientation, but I don't think it's right that people press the issue of changing the definition of the word as long as same-sex couples are recognized by the state the same way as heterosexual couples.

So it would seem that it is beneficial for society to limit marriage to between a man and a woman, since only in this context can children be produced and raised with the support of both a mother and father.

it is not completely neccessary for children to be raised by a man and a woman(preferrable? yes, neccessary? no)..but only preferable in the name of STANDARDS..there are kids that come out fine rasied by even a single parent, which is even worse than being raised by 2 gay parents..kids to not come out harmed by being raised by 2 gay parents..only different

(2) You're quire right that it isn't "necessary". But because some people have a debased standard (single parents) isn't a good enough reason for including another debased standard within law (two parents of the same sex.

not wanting the institution to change (when it won't impose on u directly or harm u against ur will) is no reason to deny 2 adult human beings, gay or not, equal rights as u...it might redefine the current institution, but why is evolution of an institution a bad thing?...all it does is influence tolerance and accpetance of the "wierdos" and unique people who live all around u..all kinds of wierd and crazy striaght people are allowed to get married...why not gays..where does this fear come from?

Some humans can perfectly well express their sexual love towards animals, who enjoy it. But: "it doesn't produce children?" So! McCain is in reality more of a liberal than a conservative, but he has to pander to his base and lie if he has any chance of getting elected. That's what sucks about our political system, the numerous hardliners on both sides that must be capitulated. McCain is a social progressive on all those issues, despite what he says now. Actually both candidates are more left than they are appearing, however Barack starts from a much more liberal point. He's hardcore left.

I actually think that's probably the best route to go. Because yeah, people have the right to do what they want, but at my church my pastor doesn't wed gay couples, and says he never will, and I think what you just said makes sense as long as it's outside of religion.

Had the Southerners been given fair market value 4 slaves (not only the purchase price but the costs to hire un-skilled drunken irish men - "i'm 1/2 irish" and "1/2 black") then the 600,000 or so that died during the civil war would not have had too. Also, the KKK would not have been devised (post slavery).
This is how slavery was ended in every other country.

Obama is against Gay Marriage too and he's never been for it -- Whereas McCain has double flip-flopped on the issue -- so with McCain there is a chance and with the Muslim there is none (also there is none with Barack, not just Muslims -- who will kill you if you are gay); I'm just saying. Christians wont kill you if your gay -- You go to Saudi Arabia (any muslim country) they will take you to Church and kill you if you are gay.

I don't understand why people care so much if gay marriage is legal. Does it effect you directly??? most likely not. Let people do what they want in their lives. Homosexuality is not a choice. Do you CHOOSE to be straight? No, you just ARE. The thought of being in a gay relationship is not an option for straight people, same as being straight is not an option for most homosexuals.

Equality is not something to be grasped at, it is freely given by God since we were created in His image and likeness. The problem is ppl are slaves to their passions and believe every little thing that comes their way. While lots of ppl struggle w/same-sex attraction it doesn't mean that living a homosexual lifestyle is still not a CHOICE. Just because its now openly acceptable to live that way doesn't make it less immoral.
