@kig132: To be fair maybe mention it briefly held the WORLD Outright Speed Record and that the FB2 was actually quite well liked by its pilots. Ballast seemed to sort any handling issues, the later Nene engine was a big improvement, the earlier one could flame out on take off if it was pushed to full throttle too fast...
@kig132 Well the FB2 had a better engine than the Mig-15, which was only a licence built early RR Nene. But yes all the swept wing fighters were much faster. Mainly it gets bad press because the FB1 was such a bad handling plane. The FB2 was thoroughly sorted however and was well liked. Most websites run it down and give incorrect info. For example stating that it was withdrawn in '56, when in fact it was late '57 and then only because the RNVR was disbanded.
@kig132 When I mentioned the World Record, I made a mistake, it wasn't the Outright Speed Record, it was the 100-kilometer closed course World Record - Mike Lithgow set a world speed record of 909 KPH (565 MPH) over a 100-kilometer closed course in the Attacker on 27 February 1948
lookin interesting, been toying with the Idea of attempting a Saunders Roe 53 or 177, though the only 3D modeling experiance I have is Pro Engineer and AutoCad... could be a while before anyone sees anything lol
In real history, the attacker was one of the worst Jet fighters of all time.
Nice model, but no texture.Anyway good job man
