i remember much press mumbling about the gal singing being a 'tranny' i couldnta cared less this song is fabulous and is one of the least pwl sounding 7'' ers [a pop rock track no less - with a 'dance' sheen] didnt rob halford and judas priest call round at pwl as well?? theres a 'french' version of there follow up plug me in which was v nice too [shoulda been the a side!] e culture? uve never heard insecure me 12'' by soft cell 'take a triple letter 2 make me feel better' lol
Beautiful. This song always lifts the spirits. It's such a well crafted pop record. Maggie's vocal is just immense and the bridge towards the end just soars. Definitely one of the best 'disco' tunes of the 80's and a lovely encapsulation of the purity of the first Balearic wave of E-culture. Viva Scarlet Fantastic!
Can you hear Linn Drum? The ubiquitous PWL drum machine which was credited on every single as if it were a person. Same sounding drum as ALL their hits. Fab!
I was a student in Bournemouth , when this song became a hit in the winter of 1987, I saw this video only once, from a t.v. store window. Now 21 years later I find it here.
Definately 1987 when it was a hit,(it may have been a re-release, ..not sure) I think the lead singer was "Maggie DeMonde" or something like that, I know they were from Birmingham,UK, great song, good memories
I actually managed to find their entire album "24 hrs" in a 4-album torrent of rare 80s albums (you can look it up on google...). It's really good. The songs are very fleshed-out... this is more of a grower album than something you might like instantly. Kind of a pity how some musicians enter the scene for just a second but leave behind such interesting music that leaves you wanting more.
Jonathon King tried to make it a hit by playing it on 'No Limits' (responsible for Jenny Powell!) week after week. Great single, anyone remember follow up single 'Plug Me In (To The Central Loveline?)..
No I don't remember that one, maybe if I heard it I would. I loved No Limits, went to the awards show they had in Manchester and saw Carol Decker and met Jenny Powell, very exciting for a 14 year old!!
Fantastic. Caught an old episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and this cropped up on it. Now desparate to find it on download. Loved it then so good to hear it again.

Yes. They did release one album titled "24 Hrs" which featured No memory as one of the singles. Rhythm of Resistance was also another cool song on the LP. The album is an amazingly overlooked one. I can send you the whole album if you're interested.
Not many people realise this, but this song was being played alongside very early acid house in the late 8's, atleast in Liverpool anyway. It was an acid house anthem!
Wish I could say I was there, but was 12/13 at the time, but I knew people that went and I knew that song was getting played, and I wanted to go, BADLY!
Absolutely loved this song!! Just sat here singing along and know most of the words which is rather disturbing, especially for the other people in the internet cafe!
What were they being held in jail for? Fashion Crimes?!! Great song though, and it's pretty clever linking up those London landmarks with old & new footage.
Tickle101 > Is this just a rumour or is there def gonna be a re-release of this gem ?? Have got this baby on blood red vinyl (could it be Scarlet ?) and its a hidden classic.
Im dreaming of deserts and fast motorbikes right now!

Great song but this version, in comparison to the amazing earlier "Tube" (TV show) version, really doesn't do it justice.
