I like the idea of spreading some of the resources I have as a UM student (namely high speed internet) to my surrounding community. Mr. Courant's comments about the economic boom around Google Fiber in A2 is a really great point as well. UM funded $1 billion in research last year, pumping the economy with access to the latest knowledge. Extending that availability to the local community, especially in a culture of cooperation and academia can only benefit both the students and the citizens.
