I love "Tangeled" but I also would love to see what would have happened in the original verion "Rapunzel Unbraided". After they made the story boards and made a few tests and trailer, they changed some parts in the story and also some designs (like the tower). But to be honest, if the original version was released, there should be Pascal though because squirrels are so boringly average!
Too bad it wasn't animated. Because it was all computerized she won't be considered as one of the princesses. I think Tangled should have been animated, what happened to the good old days of fun new animations came out every year. I always got soooooo excited when a new one came out, like the Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and my favourite Beauty and the Beast. Our children's generation gets The Princess and the Frog... thats it?
I hereby demand my currency refunded, for my expectations were betrayed by the misleading thumbnail, which suggested the presence of a split-faced feline-human hybrid mutant doing a rather unusual paw bend in an attempt to trick one of his masters into fulfilling his/her half-cat desires by the means of a strange display of wicked cuteness, and yet, there is none of such absurdity in actuallity.
@bella6497 and why pray tell is there a chameloen lizard in Germany, i guess his fake mom traveled like 2 months to get it for her?? a squirrel makes more sense and fairies are unique to the traditonal European and Germany fairy tales....
@bella6497 Yes!! she,s a german gal !!! lol... germany, bella is called the ground of fairy tales, a lot of stories come from there!! germany is one magical acient place!!
@WhatISing They start really early on animation because it takes along time to do so they were probably in the idea stage but I think that this is Tangled
i cant believe the huge transformation between the look of rapunzel, i like her look now, but i have always been a fan of hand drawn animation so i liked the look of her in the pink dress too
I LOVE tangled (saw it three times in theaters!) But I think one of the best parts was following this movie since way back when it was "Rapunzel Unbraided" It's changed so much, and it feels like I know the people who created it. Go Tangled!
@ragdolljazz i made the post before i watched the movie. it was WAY better then the previews, they did not do the movie justice! i agree that it is one of the best disney movies, and in my opinion an instant classic. it far exceeded my expectations
All you people that are so close minded to this movie:
PLEASE. you have NO idea what you're talking about until you've actually watched the movie. so don't be so judgemental and just watch it, because i guarantee that if you like any of the Disney classics, then you'll like Tangled too. this movie was amazing<3(:
Really, people, lighten up. Sure, it's not a totally classic Disney movie, but it has that refreshing feel of it. It is also more modern and comedic. I appreciate how Disney is attempting to branch out their movies to the whole family. I loved this movie; it's one of the best Disney movies so far this year. Not THE best, but ONE of the best. So quit complaining and watch it already. :)
I really LOVE this movie =) It just feels more like an old Disney Classic, but with the styles and animation that is popular (and really works) with today's movies.. Everyone is entitled to their OWN opinion. Me and my husband LOVE this movie, the characters remind us of us so much, they're all lovable. PLEASE DO NOT bash this movie if you HAVENT even bothered to go give it a try. It might not be someone's cup of tea, but to others, its a hilarious, touching (TEAR JERKING) Disney Classic. to me~
Eh so what if its called tangled. As time changes, so do people and style. You always here people talk about how they wish people did things the way they us to. I mean that phrase has been around for I don't know how long. I think the movie was really good and people should be open to this movie. Don't knock it b/c of the change in title. That is just idiotic and being stuck up your own butt
GUYS IT DOSNT MATTER IF ITS NOT MADE WITH TRADITIONAL DISNEY ANIMATION, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER PEOPLE, SORRY TO SAY IT BUT DIGITAL ANIMATION HAS TAKEN OVER. THE MAIN POINT IS THE STORY IS GOOD AND VIVVID AND ISNT SAD POP CULTURE MOVIES
I think tangled is amazing...but.....there's something missing......i mean there's something i dont like.........maybe rapunzel's look.......her eyes are so....BIG
I'm glad it was CG and not hand drawn because The Princess and the Frog, although returning to Disney's classic roots, didn't feel the same as all the others to me.
But, THIS. Haha, now, this was awesome.
I loved it so much and it made me cry and laugh out loud numerous times.
It was a great movie. Best Disney's done in a while :)
@catloverattack That would have been great. In fact, they have been considering doing a Rapunzel movie since walt was alive. The only problem is the hair. Without CGI they simply couldn't do the hair. I was a little ticked off at first, but after massive amounts of research on the subject I have come to terms with it.
@catloverattack You're right, they do have techniques. The only one that works with Rapunzels hair though is CGI. @LiveLaughLove8489 I don't understand it completely seeing as I'm not an animator, but it's really the movement and detail. If you watch animated movies the hair doesn't move much ,with the exception of Ariel. She didn't have as much hair though and they had something to model it after.
@Serdikhan thats a bunch of bull! 2D is better with disney, plus the animation looks bad. Why would they do CGI when they own pixar? and it would look way better in 2D
what is the name of this piece of music at the beginning and end of your vid?????? its from beauty and the beast right? whats it called ?!! I love it lol
I am so dissapointed that this has turned into another 3d animation, i was looking forward to some nice hand drawn stuff.. this will not be a classic in my book, its more of the 3d, pop music, adult humor, CRAP disney has been producing l8ly.
@GoneWithOutTheWind I thought they were going to do a 3d and hand drawn kind of thing? And plus, they have been working on this for years. We should all atleast give this film a chance
@GoneWithOutTheWind Have you even seen the movie? It's by no means crap, and it's now my favourite of all the Disney movies. All the characters are fully formed, interesting characters with their own problems. This movie is about fufilling your dreams, not finding love like most of the eariler movies. Perhaps you have changed you're mind after you have watched the movie? Considering you posted your comment before the release. Also, I cannot believe your comment got highest rated.
Sadly, the new name for rapunzel is tangled, to try and target young men. Their also making the prince (in this case flynn) a more important character. The trailer is OK, but it looks looks their trying too hard to target young adults.
rapunzel now in 2010, im surprised disney didnt think of it sooner BUT
it looks 3d, all the others are in 2D including the new movie princess and the frog.
which make me wonder why they are making a new disney princess in 3d.its just not fitting into that role of a disney princess. The classic way has always been the better way!
@MsHaleyDawn possibly true but the thing is after the princess and the frog didn't get as many hit as thye thought it should be they lost a lot of money so they thought if they changed it to "Tanglled" and made the main character a boy it would attract more boys but since girl KNOW rapunzels in it they'll see it too but it is sad that they had to resort to renaming it tangled :(
@MsHaleyDawn, the male hero gets in the way of the original story, but what did you expect from a Disney Studio that recently annouced that traditional fairy tales for girls were no longer being considerted. This was the 50th. traditional film for them, and decided to end their tradition now. Sad, but tragically true.
@Wolfen443 Yes, it's really sad. I'm thankful to have been able to grow up in the era when Disney knew what they were doing. Now it's all about making a quick buck, and not genuinely working towards something that will stick with many generations. Disney's lost their touch, and I'm somewhat worried that's it may be gone forever. Poor children today don't understand what they are missing...God, I'm only 19 and I sound like my grandmother. Damn you, Disney!
@MsHaleyDawn I agree. Though honestly Disney hasn't lost their touch, they just choose not to use it. Princess and the Frog was awesome, and I hear Tangled is excellent.
@MsHaleyDawn, someone else will pick up what they gave up doing or are doing differently. Nobody says that only Disney can do fairy tale animation. Actually, Disney has lost its touch years ago, about time for someone else to step to the plate and save childhood fantasy for the children of the future.
I doubt it, the previews show it off well, a spunky chi-ca for the girls and a sarcastic rouge for the boys. Tangled is more original than just Rapunzel.
@RatongaBruiser Maybe I'm just missing the appeal. It just looks like another run-of-the-mill CGI film. I was super excited about it when they were exploring altering their image generators to convey a portrayal of a moving water-color painting. Seeing the concept art for it and then seeing the finished product today just seems utterly lack-luster to me. Also, the Prince already annoys the crap out me, by just seeing him in the previews. I see no appeal for this apparently cocky character at all
@MsHaleyDawn Why don't you watch the movie now? It's awesome! Who cares if they changed the name? It still has so much Disney magic within it! And this is coming from a 13 year old girl!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yawn!
The designs put me into despair. Blond hair, blue eyes, dress ranging from baby blue to pink. Even the tower looks sickingly cute. I saw some other designs they did and the tower looked more dangerous, the damsel looked less 'I use GHD straightners and Barbie is my heroine!' and it just looked more interesting. Now they have a cute squirrel companion?! Eeek. The only thing which I find interesting is the anti- clean shaven prince.
can i just throw out there that there are only 2 disney princesses with blonde hair? and i'm not entirely sure but it looks to me like she has green eyes. agree about the dress color though.
Now there will be 3. I've nothing against blonds (having been blond myself) but it is this sort of sterotypical sort of bright yellow blond hair which bugs me. They never really look at the other shades... it has to be distinctive barbie hair.
well rapunzel and aurora have been described as "golden hair" so the fact that those two hair colors are the same is not surprising at all. I haven't read the black cauldron yet so I do not know how they describe Eilonwy's hair. And the common hair color at the time of cinderella consistant with beauty was blonde (and her hair was kind of strawberry blonde at that)
BTW: once Rapunzel comes out there are 4 blonde princesses (as noted above)
I am not blaming them for having different ethnic backgrounds to explain their hair color. Actually, the reason there are so many blonde-haired blue-eyed girls is that disney does so many stories from Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm (which are set in the same place, just different times)....and they want to get as close to the literary backgrounds as possible....which denotes blonde hair and blue eyes....as the "perfect beauty"......
@sighcantthinkofaname Right-Fair point. In that case we should include the woman that did end up with the prince at the end of that movie. Princess Nancy... sounds off eh?
5: Cinderella, Aurora, Eilonwy, Giselle, and Rapunzel. Not that it matters, I just don't want anyone to forget Giselle :) I wish people would stop nit-picking about race and hair-color in disney cartoons. If they're not diverse enough, people say Disney's racist, if they're too diverse they're being overly politically correct. Give them a break already!
strawberry-blonde if you want to nit-pick...but it really doesnt matter the hair color like seatbelttruck said.......if each princess has a different personality and story.....then that is what matters......
actually no you are wrong. they altered her hair color halfway through production. watch the opening and then the end. extensions are red and then at the end it is somewhat strawberry blonde depending on the lighting. anyway the main point is giselle was never a disney princess to begin with like you said so that is the most important.
This should make up for the financial failure of Princess and The Frog. That's why they're releasing it in November, not December one week before Avatar.
I kinda was dis enchanted with a classic looking princess. I hope its good...at least still I think the blond princess is so over done there over looked.
An oxymoron is a kind of paradox. I didn't think anyone would be this fussy...Yeah, if you think it's that big of a difference: a paradox is usually a whole sentence. I should have said "it's paradoxical". There you go. Although I didn't really want to put emphasis on my choice of words but on the expression "newest classic". Well...
It's interesting how fans tend to polarize unnecessarily, like with John Lennon and Paul McCartney. You can love both, and you can love both 2D and 3D.
So many CGI movies this decade. lol I wouldn't worry. As long as people keep their heads on (and thank god John Lasseter is in charge now) CGI is really just this decade's "fad". It will continue. but will probably cool down by the mid 10's. I heard Lasseter is pushing for another 2D fairytale in the next few years.
It's funny they used "The Swing" as reference. It's such a HORNY PAINTING.
I got back from seeing"The Princess and the Frog". What a great movie. I usually wait for movies to hit DVD, but I really wanted to support the artists and the people who make great animated movies. My wife and I loved all of the classic Disney musicals with all of the great songs and characters. I do appreciate Pixar, and I can see how 3D has a purpose, but there is nothing like a classic 2D animated film from Disney.
@WhiteWinterWPPP...... Don't take your hate out on us. Although, I can see why you're so bitter........you're a 35-year-old virgin, still live with your parents, and you just lost your job at Burger King..... Poor baby!!

So sad that this is Disney's last princess movie, for the time being. :/
They lost a lot on Princess and the Frog, despite it being critically acclaimed. Commercially, it wasn't up to standards.
So they scrapped the original concept, recast it and decided to add more action for the boys.
The princess market just isn't what it used to be.
Regardless, this is a fantastic movie.

Sadly, the new name for rapunzel is tangled, to try and target young men. Their also making the prince (in this case flynn) a more important character. The trailer is OK, but it looks looks their trying too hard to target young adults.

i've always wondered..
rapunzel now in 2010, im surprised disney didnt think of it sooner BUT
it looks 3d, all the others are in 2D including the new movie princess and the frog.
which make me wonder why they are making a new disney princess in 3d.its just not fitting into that role of a disney princess. The classic way has always been the better way!

see the music from the start till 0:30 what is it called or what movie did it come from? if someone could tell me that would be great :)

Is rapunzel part of the disney movies?
Mariexoxo1 1 year ago
@Mariexoxo1 No, they are making one...disney started to make movies on princesses based on the grim fairy tales. :)
ThatBrazilChick 1 year ago
The Beauty and the Beast soundtrack still give me chills. It really is magical.
Anyway, I'm pissed that Disney has changed the title of this movie to Tangled. There going to be losing a lot of little girls this way.
MsHaleyDawn 1 year ago 23
@MsHaleyDawn haha yeah I actually wanna watch beauty and the beast now. They'll think its a completely different movie.
Kirraish 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn possibly true but the thing is after the princess and the frog didn't get as many hit as thye thought it should be they lost a lot of money so they thought if they changed it to "Tanglled" and made the main character a boy it would attract more boys but since girl KNOW rapunzels in it they'll see it too but it is sad that they had to resort to renaming it tangled :(
LovleyAngel666 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn, the male hero gets in the way of the original story, but what did you expect from a Disney Studio that recently annouced that traditional fairy tales for girls were no longer being considerted. This was the 50th. traditional film for them, and decided to end their tradition now. Sad, but tragically true.
Wolfen443 1 year ago
@Wolfen443 Yes, it's really sad. I'm thankful to have been able to grow up in the era when Disney knew what they were doing. Now it's all about making a quick buck, and not genuinely working towards something that will stick with many generations. Disney's lost their touch, and I'm somewhat worried that's it may be gone forever. Poor children today don't understand what they are missing...God, I'm only 19 and I sound like my grandmother. Damn you, Disney!
MsHaleyDawn 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn I agree. Though honestly Disney hasn't lost their touch, they just choose not to use it. Princess and the Frog was awesome, and I hear Tangled is excellent.
AngelDust155 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn, someone else will pick up what they gave up doing or are doing differently. Nobody says that only Disney can do fairy tale animation. Actually, Disney has lost its touch years ago, about time for someone else to step to the plate and save childhood fantasy for the children of the future.
Wolfen443 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn Oh shut up. This movie is WAY better than stupid old, old, old, old Repunzel!
krissydisney 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn
I doubt it, the previews show it off well, a spunky chi-ca for the girls and a sarcastic rouge for the boys. Tangled is more original than just Rapunzel.
RatongaBruiser 1 year ago
@RatongaBruiser Maybe I'm just missing the appeal. It just looks like another run-of-the-mill CGI film. I was super excited about it when they were exploring altering their image generators to convey a portrayal of a moving water-color painting. Seeing the concept art for it and then seeing the finished product today just seems utterly lack-luster to me. Also, the Prince already annoys the crap out me, by just seeing him in the previews. I see no appeal for this apparently cocky character at all
MsHaleyDawn 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn So have you seen the movie?
mariguingui 1 year ago
@MsHaleyDawn Why don't you watch the movie now? It's awesome! Who cares if they changed the name? It still has so much Disney magic within it! And this is coming from a 13 year old girl!

-_- It will be like 'Enchanted'.
TheThreeWeavers 2 years ago
It's not Disney's fault in the original story they describe Rapunzel blonde with blue eyes.
HayoTsukiyomi 2 years ago
Golden hair I believe it was which is not what she is wearing on her head. Blue doesn't need to be bright blue either.
TheThreeWeavers 2 years ago
@HayoTsukiyomi Disney's Rapunzel has GREEN eyes.
Serdikhan 1 year ago
can i just throw out there that there are only 2 disney princesses with blonde hair? and i'm not entirely sure but it looks to me like she has green eyes. agree about the dress color though.
asamkavitzaa 2 years ago
Now there will be 3. I've nothing against blonds (having been blond myself) but it is this sort of sterotypical sort of bright yellow blond hair which bugs me. They never really look at the other shades... it has to be distinctive barbie hair.
TheThreeWeavers 2 years ago
well rapunzel and aurora have been described as "golden hair" so the fact that those two hair colors are the same is not surprising at all. I haven't read the black cauldron yet so I do not know how they describe Eilonwy's hair. And the common hair color at the time of cinderella consistant with beauty was blonde (and her hair was kind of strawberry blonde at that)
BTW: once Rapunzel comes out there are 4 blonde princesses (as noted above)
disneylandbible 2 years ago
4? Oh have mercy!
TheThreeWeavers 2 years ago
however you have four princess with black hair (including the first ever princess) , one red-head, and a brunette.
so the blonde princess number gets trumped by two at least.
in my opinion, there shouldnt be any complaint really. just as many dark haired princesses as light haired ones.
disneylandbible 2 years ago
Ah but all of the dark haired princesses are of different ethnic miniorities except Snow White... so, they can hardly be blamed for having dark hair.
TheThreeWeavers 2 years ago
I am not blaming them for having different ethnic backgrounds to explain their hair color. Actually, the reason there are so many blonde-haired blue-eyed girls is that disney does so many stories from Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm (which are set in the same place, just different times)....and they want to get as close to the literary backgrounds as possible....which denotes blonde hair and blue eyes....as the "perfect beauty"......
disneylandbible 2 years ago
@disneylandbible Disney Rapunzel has GREEN eyes. There shouldn't be a complaint about that.
Serdikhan 1 year ago
um...belle was white....she had dark hair
judeandlucy 1 year ago

5: Cinderella, Aurora, Eilonwy, Giselle, and Rapunzel. Not that it matters, I just don't want anyone to forget Giselle :) I wish people would stop nit-picking about race and hair-color in disney cartoons. If they're not diverse enough, people say Disney's racist, if they're too diverse they're being overly politically correct. Give them a break already!
seatbelttruck 1 year ago 2
giselle had red hair
judeandlucy 1 year ago
strawberry-blonde if you want to nit-pick...but it really doesnt matter the hair color like seatbelttruck said.......if each princess has a different personality and story.....then that is what matters......
disneylandbible 1 year ago
actually no you are wrong. they altered her hair color halfway through production. watch the opening and then the end. extensions are red and then at the end it is somewhat strawberry blonde depending on the lighting. anyway the main point is giselle was never a disney princess to begin with like you said so that is the most important.
judeandlucy 1 year ago
she kinda does look like the animated princess from encahanted.
MegaCakes101 2 years ago
This should make up for the financial failure of Princess and The Frog. That's why they're releasing it in November, not December one week before Avatar.

Kind of a paradox, hm? "newest classic"? =D
It's coming 2010 though...and I would have preferred a 2D-movie...=(

That wouldn't be a paradox?? I think that's an oxymoron....
nddlj 2 years ago
