hr110391 - If I remember correctly, it was around 40-50,000. They closed off most of the upper deck for games.
I was sitting even with the 6-yard-box on the opposite side of this camera angle. The post was on my right, Tony Meola was sitting on his ass in front of me, Caricola was facing the post on my left, and for the rest of my life, that ball will flutter over Meola's head from left to right and into the net, thus making the Tri-state area pay for the sins of the Cosmos' excesses eternally.
mls was way better back then, there was numberous superstars, STILL IN THERE PRIME,and playing for there national team, which is more than u can say bout today. Vel pibe valderamma,el diablo, Cienfuegos, el brody campos etc etc, now u dont have any story lines, any superstars to follow, nobody cares about juan pablo angel or donavon
The level of play in MLS is MUCH higher now. The teams were terrible in those first couple of years and could hardly string together a few passes in a row. Apart from a few big stars like Donadoni and Valderrama, it was a league of scrubs. Probably the only team from the inaugural season that could compete with today's teams is DC United, and even they would struggle.
its not you... all the good players go and play over in europe now, soo the MLS is like a D league... and i agree with primetime, whats with the stupid names now... but i still watch every mls game they show on cable!
The talent pool in 2007 is SO much deeper than it was back then. The league can afford to let the odd American player go to Europe because there are more than enough talented young players to take their place.
you are an idiot, the mls was better then, had better players, better skill, and wasnt all fake..."Real Salt Lake" "FC Dallas"...the only good name is DC United....seriously "Real Salt Lake"(it doesnt even make sense)
Judging the overall play level based on the names of the teams only weakens your position. It isn't all about big names. For every 20 assist season Valderrama had, there was a player like Branco - collecting paychecks while acting the fool. Just ask the mexican club teams if MLS has closed the gap. It used to be only one or two teams in the league could keep pace with their southern competitors. Now the majority of teams can keep up. Recent results support this.

Now wonder the Metrostars flopped. That was embarassing. The sad thing is alot of people left that game and have probably never been back.

Because of location and Division the Red Bulls and Revolution should be natural rivals
