    i love japan but this...?

  • wtf they look like anorexic clowns

  • anime!!!!

  • 1:04 - the one with the black hair has the same hairstyle as me o.O

  • how is it scary, i think it's cool lol

  • 1:29 The girl in the middle looks like snooki...

  • Japan gone New Jersey... please no!

  • wait I am so confused...what is this look all about? At first glance it looks kind of trashy but what does it mean?

  • @laurenrosalie By the time you get to ganguro it's gone really overboard but it really started off as the media making fun of "California Girls" and they tanned the models and narrowed their noses and put them in over accessorized, eclectic clothing styles. No one really expected it to get popular or expand and exaggerate. Ganguro is a really really excessive version of Gyaru, which is what it all started out as.

  • they look dirty, i mean imagine their skin close up

  • are they trying to look like girls from the jersey shore?

  • @imareload No but close. It's a style that originated by trying to look like Californian girls. XD Jersey Shore came loong after these girls started doing this.

  • @ 2:15 who is the girl with blond hair ? she is really Cute ! :D

  • they're... scary.

  • @CocoWhy true true true true true..

  • @CocoWhy YOU'RE scary XD jk

  • Just to correct you.

Yamanba and manba originated from ganguro. Ganguro is soft. Yamanba has white make up above the eyes only with stickers. Manba has white make up above and below the eyes with less stickers.

  • @Arisainwonderland, @kunoichi4679 I like how you both brought interesting points to this debate but still kept it civil. That's hard to find these days. haha ^,^' but I can see where you both are coming from as well.

  • 2:16 is my type of style

  • Jesus guys, you get mocked and ridiculed in Japan for dressing like this just as much as you do anywhere else.

  • wat song izit?

  • its a good way to hide your ugly

  • Some of this is a little too much....

  • 1:19 eeerr...? seriously...?

  • aahahah SNOOKI!!!!!!!!!!!

  • in my country, as this was called a makeup disaster, I see them is wrong, because this is a very unique personality.

  • Would love to visit Japan! i bet its cool to go out dressed how ever u wont! unlike here in the uk u just get critized. -__-

  • eeuww ~

  • at 2:15 the blonde girl is adorable I just wanna hug her ^.^

  • the girl at 1:02 looks like Sonoko Suzuki from Detective Conan xD :D

  • poor parents xD

  • I hate Ganguros. They remind me too much of drag, which makes me suspect all those ''girls'' are actually men...

  • So, do these chicks learn how to juggle when they go to clown school?

  • are these asian guidos?

  • Ganguro scares me

  • they look like orange pandas

  • Yamanba Gyaru for life <3 its so fun!!!!!!

  • 1:06 OMG, García Marquez xDDDDDDD

  • @inocence527 No my darling, Hannie Dropkick is a "Scene Queen" ♥

  • I can't quite put my finger on it by I think maybe these girls are attention whores hmmmm....

  • I love Japan and all but...really? You guys are just FORCING me to change my mind aren't you?

  • "YAMANBA" is the ghost who lives in the mountain.

Their figures are old women and they eat humans.

"YAMANBA makeup" was popular in Japan in the latter half of 1990's.

And in the times, the brutal crime that teenage youths commit occurred frequently.

  • I can only think of dirty things when I think about this style >:}

  • some of these girls remind me of the cast of Jeresy Shore

  • @2:34 are these women?!?

  • I'm italian, I don't know why this makeup is called ganguro, can you explane me?

  • @DEBBYYY76 Okay Ganguro: means Black Face & is an alternative fashion trend of blonde or orange hair and tanned skin among young Japanese women that topped in popularity around the year 2000.In contradiction to the traditional Japanese concept of beauty by having pale skin, dark hair, and neutral makeup tones, rebellious youth tanned their skin, bleached their hair, and used colourful makeup

  • Japanese are brave

  • 2:09 looks like the little bears off of star wars

  • i feel bad for their hair :L

  • Comment removed

  • I WANNA SEE A GANGURO WEDDING!!

  • love it <3

  • @TokyoGeisha21 : no Yamanba has eye makeup over eyebrows and a thick white line on their noses. Ganguro has eye makeup to their eye brows and have no line on their noses.Understand the diffrence?

  • So...yamanba is the same thing as ganguro?

  • Watching this makes u realize how boring the states really are. I absolutely love Nippon. Between the diverse fashion styles, the night life, and the car scene ( Im more of a drift/touge boy but I like the high speed Wangan stuff to). One day I will be in Nippon..

  • i wish i find a girl like that in tokyo and just drift to the sunset

  • i wish i was born/raised in japan :(

  • @KissaKiller I hope you don't think people look like this in Japan. If you do you're an idiot. Not every Japanese person isn't going to be walking around the streets looking like this. Its like saying "I wish I was born/raised in NJ because I want to be a guido/guidette". Yet I haven't saw at least one quido/quidette while I was in NJ.

So stop stereotyping, you won't found a lot of people dressing like this.

  • @MissMademoiselle2 I know most people in Japan dont dress like this,im not that stupid. i was just saying that i really like Japanese fashion(not JUST the ones in this video, casual ones, not crazy pink colorful fashion) and i also think Japanese people are gorgeous, (and im NOT saying im not proud to be American, because i am)and how about you stop trying to act all smart and if i did think people look like this,so what? its my thought, and if i didnt know people dont dress like this,my loss.

  • @KissaKiller haha may be so;D BUT bePROUD if ur ASAIN!

  • Not my favorite gears but pretty cool

  • they loook like they have been shot with homer simpsons makeup gun

  • look like shit. you look sopit

  • racist japanese girls

  • I love how you're not judged that much in fashion sense as you are in US. Aka if I were to go out into NY with the ganguro style, people would look down on me. But Japan is just so epic to have so many really nice fashion styles

  • @kunoichi4679 People in Japan look down at you for what you wear too. Even more so than the US.

  • @Arisainwonderland The difference is that its more prevalent in Japan. Even if people look down, which that will happen anywhere, it will not be as severe as any other place; because Japan has many ganguros/yamanbas/etc

  • @kunoichi4679 The trend of Ganguro and yamanba has actually been dying out. While you may see some people dressed like this in the city like Tokyo, the country regions of Japan do not dress like this at all. You can still be ridiculed for what you wear. Japan is still a rather conformist country. Places such as the US,is very common for goth, punk and other whacky styles. But then I live in California, so many people don't really care what you wear.

  • @Arisainwonderland Even if they have died out there is still quite a number of them. I follow several street magazines from Tokyo, Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc and ganguros are in many places. My point was the mocking isnt as bad as it would be here. Im in NYC and I know people would be made fun of real bad. Ganguros dont exist here. Japan may be conformist in political means but not in fashion. Gyaru, everyday cosplayers, vkei, lolitas. Check out Shunpei Kodera hes popular on FNO Tokyo for fashion.

  • @kunoichi4679 Following fashion in magazines and actually experiencing are two different things. Japan is still conformist even in fashion. And believe me Japan can mock people pretty severely if they aren't up to date on what is cool or if they're too different. Many even group this type of fashion as slutty. My college friend lives in NYC and her sense of fashion is pretty bizarre but no one has made fun of her.I'm just saying you shouldn't generalize.

  • @Arisainwonderland yes this is very true. @kunoichi4679 this style was more popular in the 90's and early 2000's. Now a days it is rare to see.

  • Love This Style <3

    And LOVE the music !!!!

    ParaPara Rules !!!! =3

  • Some dont even look too overdone. Even though I dont like a lot of them, I admire them. Plus, some loook really fricking good!!

  • love the styles... !!

    :D

  • i HATE Ganguro's so much but its so unique and i admire their bravery. In japan they do so many outrageous stylesits amazing. i enjoy seeing this though its interesting. Im a visual kei girl though x]

  • People diss these looks, if youa sk me they are WAY better than the one's in America. These people express themselves through clothing. We hide in it. If we are not wearing something everyone else is or that is concidered different. We are automatically an outcast. I respect these people.

  • listen to their funky dance tunes its like when you get the stars out on sonic the hedgehog

  • I love that Japan is so far ahead with Fashion and creativity and self expression that these Ganguro style can be seen in public. Unlike the rest of the world where anyone appearing unique is critiized as a freak, weirdo just because we're not wearing abercrombie or gap.

  • @AngkorWTF i agree.

  • @AngkorWTF TRUEEE!

  • @AngkorWTF even though its bigger in japan than all the other countries its still critiized by people in japan as well

  • @AngkorWTF i totally agree with you (:

  • i hate brown girls with blond hairs o_o why japan why -.-?

  • Their hair is pretty wicked :D I'd definitely have hair like that! But the make-up is very scary O_O I don't think I'd wear it xD

I really wish I was Japanese (sigh) I love it so much and my mom and best-friend think I'm Japanese in disguise xD

  • all you guys don't know what they are like, how they live, how poor they are and how nasty n dirty they are.

btw, not many Yamamba &Ganguro girls no longer exist in present Japan. trend is always changing.

anyway, so scary face like Japanese traditional scary mask. But they love themselves and hard to understand it for the general public who never try that mask.

  • @pinky41212 they aren't dirty, just cause they don't fit the WHITE BEAUTY thing where you're as beautiful only as pale you are :P

  • @leJiNX hmm...you know nothing

  • in america we just call this lady gaga

  • it is an intresting look ..but whats the point with having a head darker then the rest of the body? :-/

  • kya~! love japanes fashion... X3

    ganguru GYARU and yamanba.. X3

  • yamanba is a female-demon who lives in mountains. I heard from my japanese teacher xD The best joke is that they thik they're more like girls from west and also cute! >__> that makes me wanna puke...

  • Is this style supposed to represent or mean something, or is it just random?

  • Ganguro is scary, Yamanba is better

  • :O.

  • 2:16, soooooooooooooo cute! <3

  • This is true feminism - the freedom to look as ugly as you want to

  • what does it mean?... to look like a cartoon, maybe? idk, but it looks kinda cool, though. i must be sick.

  • @bridgetcarnes they try to go for the california girl thing :) but they go against the whole pale is beautiful stereotype

  • is the one at 2:11 possible?

  • @wrestling7girl very possible and VERY wierd. XD

  • Man Japan is FUCKING SICK I would go there and never come back....thats why im in school to get my English degree so i can teach there HELL YEA!

  • @Ubendorf Lol me too! Good luck!

  • @Ubendorf HATERS GONA HATE

  • @HikariAppleButterFly agree!!!

@Ubendorf just don't watch the video if you'll going to go nuts and commenting like a hater.. X3

  • @msyurikayuri Ubendorf isn't hating xD he says it's sick, as in cool :)

  • @leJiNX i see i see, gomen ^^ hehe

  • @HikariAppleButterFly he isn't ating xD he's loving it like us :)

  • @Ubendorf Yea me too , I thought the same thing ;D ~

  • @Ubendorf Hell yeah man! me too! xDD

  • This is so weird it hurts to look at!

  • kogals scare me so much

  • I LOv the yamanba n' ganguro

    style ! !

  • Love Ganguro :D I think it's cool and cute ;)

  • @Gaarafan179 I LOVE IT.!!

  • 2:12 so ugly

  • @xYuz102

    YOU DON´'T HAVE A MIRROR???

  • You've got a lot of gyaru pictures mixed into all this. The gyaru look featured in Ranzuki and egg and whatnot is today-gyaru and definitely NOT ganguro yamanba. Ganguro and yamanba is dark, dark tans with panda makeup. Gyaru is like girly, fashionable girls with tans.

  • so the girls purposely get really deep tans? i never knew that was part of the style. very interesting.

  • what is this song. i want it so bad

  • It's Boom Boom Meccha Maccho by Gyaruru. :D

  • a lot of these girls have light tans so they are manba and some had deeper so they are ganguro. But i love love your video MAJOR!! thanks for taking the time to make it ~^.^~

  • Wrong. Deep, deep tans are yamanba, lighter is manba, and all-arounds are ganguro. The light, light tans are considered today-gyaru.

Check out my channel if you wanna see real gyaru. :)

  • 1:24 - Shes pretty. :)
