  • Only fourteen, the age I reached when I fell in with phonographs forty years ago and more. Tip: balance your governor to reduce the flutter heard above. Hear our Columbia BC? Click my username? The moon had his eyes on you all...

  • She was Ada Jones, June 1, 1873 – May 2, 1922, A very popular singer of her day, most known for her duets with Billy Murray, and one of the most underrated singers of all time, IMO

  • As no one else seems to have corrected it yet, the singers name is "Ada Jones". Wikipedia has an article on her.

  • Great old tune by Tin Pan Alley tune king Albert Von Tilzer.

  • LOve it!

  • I think that if Ms. Jones had chosen a studio with capabilities of recording possibly onto a higher quality format -- even something as basic as m4p (with the added benefit of being able to immediately upload to iTunes) -- I feel she would have found her product enjoying a more pure, longer lasting result.

  • agreed. what kind of Neanderthal is incapable of using such a simple format?

  • @voicetube Please tell me you're being sarcastic.

  • LOL!!... uh, yes:-)

  • I should add to my silly comment that this is an awesome upload and can only imagine that this was an absolute miracle in it's day and that this is a wonderful peek into history, Thank you so much for posting!!

  • Im 14 too. I used to have an edison standard model D phonograph. Your machine and mine are very similar the only differences are that mine did not have an end gate and mine could play 2 and 4 minute records. To help your machine play better you should replace the belt because an old belt can slip and cause the machine to run at an unsteady speed. Also oil with 3 in 1 oil. What reprodcuer do you have? Where did you get this? The singer in this song is Ada Jones. You have a very nice machine!

  • My reproducer is a Model C. I have the reproducer for the 4 minute records, I just haven't put out any of those recordings. I got this machine from a friend of the family. Unfortunately, my dad dropped this record and now it's in about a million pieces, so I can't ever play it again. I know I need to replace the belt, I just haven't gotten around to it.
