Thanks for you're help, by the way this man is running windows.. I'm a mac freak and photoshop on my and all iMac's looks way different, also why would he lie about such a simple thing LOL.
Also notice 5:54 he says "click and drag". You hear him click as well, but on screen he is still moving his arrow as if he's speaking of the dark foreground.
But really, follow him on the program and do it with him. You'll understand then.
He seems to do things in intervals which is why it looks like at first glance that he is in sync. Except the examples I made.
It does jump out of sync around the 4.50 mark but then comes back. It's got nothing to do with flash player being out of date as I'm on a new system with everything updated.
what type of file should save it in? there's no .jpeg type in the option there, :( if i save it in TIF type, it will take almost 200mb of space in HD. woooo
I go on file and and merge HDR and then i add the open files, and it does it, but then is says i have to Manually set EV why does it come up with this? :S
Unless your camera stores the EV info in the EXIF data, you'll have to set those levels yourself. Cheaper digital cameras probably don't have that data, but a DSLR should. Also, make sure you're using the original files and not something that's already been edited and may have lost its EXIF data. I'm not sure of your exact situation, but those are some possibilities.
try downloading photomatrix- it is free to trial (unlimited access but leaves a watermark on the processed images that you then need to photoshop out) it and has all the features you need to create high quality HDR photos.
I take multiple exposures for optimal highlights and shadows. Then combine them into one file. Using layer masks I use either large soft-edge brushes or the gradient tool to erase/restore info. Very basic.
I will now shoot in bracket mode everywhere! I did sometimes anyway to choose between the best shots. HDR is a whole new game! Its like painting!!! Check out Dave Cohens HDRs on flickr!!!
but those 3 exposure need to have a sense , 1 exposure when the sky looks great second exposure when the mountains look nice and other when the foreground looks ok.
What kind of mounts do you use? can you take the camera off the mount between shots or do you have an arsenal of cams? I can now do time and iso bracketing with my powershot sd790is. I just need the software... I love astrophotos. Is HDR like stacking?
I have photoshop CS3 but my automate menu does not include merge HDR option, it only had "batch", "PDF presentation", and "create droplet" do i have the wrong version or something?
Hi, great tutorial!!, but I am having problems with the HDR merge. It says that there is not enough dynamic range in the photos to construct a useful HDR photo. I tried to create 3 different pictures, one with shadows, one with highlights and one normal, but it is still not working.
This is awesome! I had been creating HDRs with Photomatix but had found it rather annoying so I was looking for an accurate PS tutorial. I think I've found just the right one. :)
how do I save this HDR photo into JPEG? If I want to use it for the web or some only .jpg compatible device... I don't have the option there when clicking save as
Excellent - very clear instructions on how to perform this task. I would be interested what the latitude in CS3 is, how many f-stops difference CS3 will cope with?
That was very awesome! I'm sure there are other HDR tutorials, but your's is definitely very simple and easy to understand. Thank you for taking the time to help us!
Ok. I just started all over again from the beginning. This time the box came up by itself. I must have been doing something wrong the first time. Lol.
Thanks for the info! I think many viewers may not realize that once the HDR image is merged you can save it as a .hdr file and use it in most 3D programs to create the lighting for your scene.
Awesome teaching tool for HDR, this helped me a ton, I was stuck on figuring out how to convert the HDR. Now to go out to some scenic spots and attempt some real HDR.

thanks !

the audio in in sync - your flash player is outdated - the problem is on your side
gmodesike 2 years ago 3
No it's not. Listen to the audio at 4:15. He says go to IMAGE>MODE>16 bit... all while still adjusting the lever.
Try actually following it, it looks ok at first glance but you'll notice when following him that his voice is way ahead of his actions.

watch the video again - the audio is in sync - 5:35 is the perfect example and is just after your example...so my original statements hold true
