  • Hold a sec, I'm American and what he said "we americans care about each other" ???? Not so, I'm Amercan with brown skin and white Americans have shared there hate against me. Since they dont' know the difference of a real American and you hate people because of skin color you will always have people against you for being ignorant. So to say "well all americans care for each other is not so"!! So long as you continue to hate Me brown skin american will always vote against your racist asses!

  • Deport ALL illegal aliens, make welfare WORKfare and pay them double the minumum wage to work the jobs that illegals were doing! Unless you are disabled, then you either work or receive NO money from the taxpayers! WE THE PEOPLE are fed up with our governments inaction concerning illegal aliens! Do WE need to do THEIR job for them??

  • Thanks to illegal immigrant entitlements California is now bankrupt. We have a lot of enemies in this country fighting to keep these illegals here. They are determined to destroy this country. The media is a dangerous fifth column as are all the despicable Hispanic advocacy groups.

  • Geaux, reading the comments from the pro-illegal crowd is truly disturbing. They represent the true depth of the danger this country is in from illegal immigration.

  • We all my respect Dana do you want an Honest discussion about Undocumented Immigration? Open your eyes and ears, do not be blind to missfacts from Lou Dobbs and Minuteman groups..They are thousands of facts that U.S. Citizens are the major factor of draining social services, do not scapegoating the people who do not have a voice either a vote. You want facts? There too close to you.

  • dana is a girls name and he is a pot smoker but i guess hes ok illegals out!

  • He says undocumented immigrants come to the U.S. to "consume" resources? Look at the facts muchacho. Immigrants contribute far more to the economy than they "consume". The "families who have built [this country] for generations" are the families of immigrants!

  • He wasn't talking about immigrants. He was talking about illegals.

  • "...economic restructuring plans imposed by the International Monetary Fund and the trade policies of NAFTA, FTAA, and GATT have led to unemployment rates of over 25 percent. [global corporate capilist] policies have devastated the countryside in Mexico, and stopp[ed] development projects, driving thousands off their lands." This has led to the impoverishment of the vast majority and pushed millions to migrate, primarily to the U.S., in search of food and employment." See the bigger picture?

  • Oh please. Everyone's a victim and it's not their fault, right? Illegal means illegal. See the bigger picture?

  • Yes, we are ALL victims of Capitalist, Imperialist greed. Do you not read the news (no, obviously you don't)?

  • Actually, America's capitalism and what it has provided you are things you'd never be willing to give up. Feel free to prove me wrong and relocate yourself to the Workers' Paradise of your choosing, but I won't hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

  • Wrong, the stability and comfort I currently enjoy are because of FDR and the SOCIALISM enacted during his presidency.

CAPITALISM on the other hand is responsible for the current rise in joblessness, ponzi schemes, stock market collapse, high forclosure rates, immigration and criminal executive excess.

Again, you should really try reading once and a while.

  • Since you're probably neither elderly nor disabled, I don't think Social Security has played much of a role in your life yet, and I tend to suspect you're not an enormous beneficiary of the Tennessee Valley Authority either, therefore I'm a little lost as to how you think FDR did much to impact your existence outside of making sure we won WWII. However, if you're a big Roosevelt fan, these next four years ought to be great fun for you.

  • Think again.

  • Hey moron, maybe you should try doing some real research. The reason we are in this mess is because of the corruption of FannieMae and FreddieMac giving out Ninja & Liar loans like they were candy to illegal aliens.

  • Loans to "illegal aliens". Where did you find this fact. Source?

  • Geaux,

When the Obama administration grants Amnesty across the board, that will be the law of the land, so I'm sure you will still be chanting 'Enforce the Law! Enforce Amnesty!'

  • There are few things as sad in American society as a political die-hard waiting for his newly elected candidate to fulfill all of his passionately delivered campaign promises. Listen, are you expecting this "across the board amnesty" before or after the trillion dollars stimulus package on top of Bush's 750 billion bank bailout is completed? Or perhaps as soon as the CA 45 mil. deficit is closed? Keep waiting, young man. It'll happen at the very moment the last soldier is out of Iraq.

  • Enforce our laws it's that simple.

  • Tell it like it is, Mr. Rohrabacher!

  • GeauxNOSaints,on a serious note what do you think is the way to solve this "crisis".

  • Enforce the laws currently on the books.

  • So deport 12 million to 20 million??

  • Don't need to. Just deport the ones who get caught in the criminal justice system and enforce the workplace laws. The majority of the rest will leave b/c without work, the main reason to be here is gone ... and we'll reap the bonus of them taking a good number of anchor babies with them.

  • again, on a serious note- is it your opinion that we should shut down all immigration (legal or otherwise), or do you think the illegal immigration situation could be improved with a faster legal immigration process?

  • No, we should not shut down legal immigration. That would be idiotic and financially detrimental. As to your second inquiry, there doesn't need to be a faster immigration process; we need enforcement of the rules we have.

  • well obviously employers aren't getting the cheap labor they're after fast enough, so isn't there a need for at least a more efficient work permit program or something?

look, I don't like illegals taking jobs Americans would ordinarily do either. as a pro-union guy, I see them as just another type of scab. but i don't see any realistic/effective way to force the business community into hiring Americans, so in my mind the best thing to do is get these guys out of the shadows somehow.

  • "well obviously employers aren't getting cheap labor they're after fast enough ... " = Employers shouldn't have to abide by laws that provide medical disability, workman's comp and a reasonable minimum wage / Exactly what kind of a liberal are you? I thought you guys were concerned about the safety and compensation of poor and working class folks?

  • good point. I guess what it boils down to is would Americans do the jobs illegals do for a wage that wouldn't make inflation skyrocket? and would a guest worker program provide enough income for the immigrants to cover those kinds of programs in their native country?

this is a tough issue and I'll admit here and now I'm still undecided and have been on both sides of the fence (no pun intended), it's just hard for me to hate these guys who bust their butts to do the menial jobs of our country.

  • what's funny is that as I look at what I had just typed, it almost looks the same way some people defend NAFTA and other free trade agreements with countries like China. And as an Ohioan, I think those policies were terrible.

I guess I really hate the idea of splitting apart families and sending some people who have been in the U.S. for years and years and have built a life, family, and friends here as they have come to love and assimilate into our country.

  • And as is commonly the case with liberals, you are more than happy to indulge your feelings at the expense of law and what is best for this nation. By the way, immigr. laws do not split families apart. Any person who is deported is allowed (and I feel should be encouraged) to take his children with him.

  • I think having families stay together and assimilate into a productive part of this country is best for this nation

And you would tell the American-born child of a man or woman that illegally immigrated into this country, who has lived their entire lives here in the U.S. and knows nothing but American culture and citizenship, that they have to decide whether to go with their parents or stay in their home with the people they know and love? I think that does more harm than good for this country.

  • No, I would not tell them that. Children don't make family residential decisions, parents do.

  • No, what it boils down to is three things: 1) Are U.S. immigration laws something that are "optional"? 2) Do we enforce wage and safety standards in regard to employment, or do we just allow businesses to simply insource a workforce that won't complain when they are violated? 3) Should U.S. taxpayers have to pay the trillions of dollars another '86-like amnesty would cost?

  • look, I think it's clear that no law ought to be "optional", what is optional is how we go about punishing the law breakers. Deportation? Fines? A delay in citizenship and all the privileges included therein?

I think we can handle your other two points with Unionization and easily obtained guest worker permits. would it be more expensive for employers to have to pay Americans 4, 5, 6 times the minimum wage to do the kinds of jobs illegals are currently doing?

  • So basically, you want to reward knowing and orchestrated criminal behavior on the part of employers and undocumented laborers. I'm confident that poor and unemployed U.S. citizen workers everywhere are applauding you.
