Nice work, Cyborg...lol...cool, I'd try it... the closest thing I ever did was put a teddy bear skin and a baby head on my robosapien,lol...of course, I made a video of it too...
I dunno, I hardly ever play shooters on consoles, a controller is just not the best option for those types of games. And the wiimote is the worst. I'm pretty good at RE4, but trying to play it on my friend's wii was ridiculous.
I have a new setup now where the cap rigged with the leds is not necessary.
Instead of the second wiimote I use another computer with a webcam and little face recognition program to track my position and movements. It works better because with the cap it was sometimes difficult to keep it pointed to the wiimote.
hmm but the headtracking could be still a bit better, for example if i move myself to the right, character will move right too in the same speed. just like in the real headtracking video of jonny lee. (up-down movement would be difficult but horizontally should work)
Actually strafing left and right works pretty well.
Is not the same as Johnny Lee's headtracking because I use it to move the character's position using the keystrokes A & D, as opposed to changing the point of view which is not possible with just keystrokes and wouldn't allow for strafing.
This is very cool but I doubt I'd be able to finish the game using this.
It's a bit like project natal.

I just saw that, pretty amazing!
it kind of reminds me of Chucky

seems like a waste of time to me, you can't beat a mouse for quick and precise aiming.

It's all about having more fun. It adds a new layer of realism and immersion to the GAME.

It definitely seems as if playing it is much more interesting.
I enjoyed watching the video mate and I wouldn't mind beating both NOLFS again using this very setup.

Does this make the game easier?
uservitunname 3 years ago
It's not easier, in a way is more challenging, more physical and definitely more fun.
I wouldn't play it any other way now.

I have another version using a simple Webcam & face-tracking instead of the hat. I'll publish it soon.

Of course, click where it says "more info..." all the links are there: GlovePie, the script & the BT drivers.

The field of view is actually pretty narrow with the wiimotes. It's about 40 degrees, so the jacket doesn't reduce it at all.
Maybe a lens on the end of the wiimote may help increase it.
amieres123 3 years ago
I suspect that the silicone protection narrows the IR field of view. Have you tested it?

wow this is really cool. is it more fun that way?

It certainly is and you get a good exercise too.
