this totally happened to me but i fixed it by taking the controller apart and putting it back together, it's a bit tricky to but totally worked!!! i hated this shit so glad its gone

When you highlight the "turn off ps3" link, the system readies itself to quit the game, sign out of PSN and internal system user accounts, stop all music and movies, and stop the hdd. Somewhere, something is not wanting to turn off, and thats the problem.

this happend to me to and as crazy as it sounds, it might be that you blew a fuse on the right side of your controller

this happens when your sitting or covered in something flanle. if you push one of the action buttons and it sparks you might have blown a fuse, im returning mine but i wouldnt rely on me, go to a pro

One of your buttons could be jammed. At least, that's what happened to me. My R2 button was stuck down. Try poking around your controller or giving it a little shake or toss on the ground. As long as one button is held (L/R buttons) nothing else will really work. Sorry it took a year and a half to help you!! Lulz.

the battery inside the ps3 controller will wear out it says on the ps3 user manual (quick guide). my contoller is fine but the L2 button is a bit loose, if i touch slightly it still works!

Your R2 or L2 buttons. when pressed in, cancel out every other button command. Check your trigger buttons next time.

I dropped my controller and the same thing happened. The guy at sony told me to open it up and see if any plastic debris was inside. He was right and now it works fine.

i had the exact same problem, when my R2 got jammed. i just loosened the screws on the back, pulled the R2 back out, then you will be able to use the PS screens. its seems u cant use the ps screens wen ur holding in anutha button alredy

Hey dude i had the same problem one day i dropped my controller and thought nothin of it the next time i used the controller i had the same problem What happened was when it dropped the L2 button got jammed in so i just unjammed the button and my controller started to work again

Yeah, mine was like it shorted out. I just went to walmart and took mine back in as a return and got a new controller. I had to use up 1 of my 3 returns with out a receipt per year, but it was worth it to save the hassle of getting a replacement from sony.

Played madden 07 experienced that problem at the end of online game cant press x to hut the ball then i found out cant exit the game neither demo or game all other programs work can play music can click browser sony 7-10 days will recieve it till then 2 weeks hell no im gonna buy new controller let me kno if you fix the problem

Yeah, I hit the reset button, nothing, The ps3's got plenty of breathing room. :) I think I may have sent a static shock into my controller. I was generating a lot that day. Every piece of metal I touched would shock me. At one point I plugged my usb cord into the sixaxis and saw sparks shoot between me and the cord while plugging it in. I got a new controller and it works fine.
