  • "Feel the opening of your wounds. Feel the pain. It is glorious to be alive, truly a miracle... Or, some bizarre nightmare."

    Robert C. Anderson 12/11/11 3:30am

  • both are blessed!

  • I love how aggressive Lisa sings near the end of this. She is so powerful as a singer.

  • Some of the best music ever crafted, been a fan since 95. would LOVE to see them live!

  • Rumour has it, a tour in 2012! must seeeee

  • They sound even better live...didnt think that was possible!

  • DCD are simple a band for musicians, and music lovers. If you have kids and he is listening to what ever tween crap Disney is spewing, don't even bother let him hears this. If he is listening to you old Radiohead or Aphex Twin, give him a shot.

  • I was fortunate enough to see this tour in NYC at Town Hall, and it was staggering. Truly the greatest moment of live music in my life, of which there have been many.

  • Saw them play live in Portland, OR, USA, in the mid 1990s. The greatest musical experience I've ever had. One of those experiences that transcends boundaries. I found myself moving in response to their music and covered in goose-bumps. I found myself hugging a girl next to me, both of us so full of the power of the music. Nodding goodbye to people when I left...with the other lover of music and peak experiences.

  • Lisa is full of light. Look at her shining eyes and listen to her voice!

  • DO YOU KNOW BANDS LIKE DEAD CAN DANCE??? I NEED MORE,SIMILAR BANDS! THANKS HEAPS!

  • @FRAANT07 No such thing as similar to Dead Can Dance. They are a singular phenomenon.

The closest you might come is "This Mortal Coil". Check out "Song To the Siren"

    /watch?v=4mUmdR69nbM

    There is is.

    Here's another one I like:

    /watch?v=AIpkMg9sh6Q

That is a clip from the best film of all time. (If you like VERY abstract.)

  • @FRAANT07 unfortuately there is nothing i have heard before that is remotely like them.

  • this song helped save me from myself destruction!

almost 18 years ago!" still makes my nipples hard!

  • speechless, just try to feel it...

  • the spirit of DEAD of the DEAD

  • Because of this group i can truly say that I love you with all my hearth.

  • Lisa is not only the best female singer I've ever heard, she's also very handsome, gorgeous, beautiful. I just love her

  • She is so charming...

  • I wonder why she smiles at 2.17

    Its kinda scary..

  • I loved from one heard. There's nothing more to say, just love.

  • One word:....

  • just inspiring

  • I am so happy to meet DCD here again. I used to love that music when i was a young girl 20 years ago. Now i am almost speechless how extraordinary these two people or that band respectivley was! How poetic, artistic, mystic and spiritual. I lack these kind of moments nowadays. T&hank you so much for remembering me of a very special time in my life.

  • brilliant, nothing else but brilliant

  • lyrics anyone?

  • One of the few living artists I love and have never seen live :( I can only hope they'll tour once again in the futrure. Perry has dropped in a few interviews that he's trying to convince Lisa.

  • Lisa's voice sounds so other-worldly. Love it!

  • this is rythum . . . this is freedom . . . this is unconditional love . . . this is feeling . . . this is our universe . . . Music within, once you listen to it, it will allways follow you like a spirit and above all it is ethnic (mother nature wise) it awakense something from every human being once heard (impossible not to).Especially this dead can dance song is amazing.........enjoy FEEL

  • PENSAR QUE TENIA ESTE DVD. LO PRESTE Y CAGUÈ!!!!!! FLOP

  • Dead Can Dance are one of the best musical outfits in the world - today and ever. Fell in love with them at Uni and have remained a devotee.

    Genius.

  • you dont hear music like this anymore....my parents raised me on DCD, Loreena McKennitt, Enya and so many others and Im glad they did. its a nice escape from the monotonous tunes pervading the radio now.

  • Hehe, look at Brendan dancing at 3:12.

  • Leírhatatlan!

  • apuesto a que solo 20 mexicanos conocen a dead can dance

  • This is what just love can be .

  • There is no better moment where an artist does what they do for their art. Lisa and her musicians topped all expectations in this recording. I cannot help but to weep all the way through this performance of Cantara. I will, after all things, die a happy man with this in my memory.

  • DCD music itself is not as important as what it does with soul and what feelings it evokes. Highly spiritual music that only highly spiritual beings can absorb and fully appreciate. Always get goosebumps when listening to Cantara.

  • what language is she singing in?

  • @Gruntsplatter it's her own language, which is no language, just feeling. Just as she talks about in the ending interview. Pretty neat.

  • @Gruntsplatter Thats not a language. This is called Glossolalia, commonly called "speaking in tongues".

Lisa explains in the video why she sings in that way.

  • magic

  • this song makes me want to spin around in circles until i fall over

  • looks like some psychotic chick hhahaha

  • OMG !!! Wow !!!!! this must be witchcraft or some kind of religion or something?

  • This version of Cantara lights a fire in my soul. Its chaos, its love, fear, and strength. No song touches me like this one does. Though they did not play Cantara, I had the ridiculous pleasure of seeing them in Concert in Boston 5 or so years ago, they played alot from Baraka, and a select few from their other Cds. Lisa was a trooper, as she was sick with the flu, but she performed and was unbelievable anyways :)))

  • Do you wonder if the musicians knew when this were filmed that they were apart of something as groundbreaking as DCD?

  • @Liucilla I think enlightened people like the musicians of DCD don't have such a basic pattern of thinking ( I don't mean to offense you). They don't really care what people think about their music. Though they were probably aware as well that such a strong music can't remain unnoticed for long.

  • 'How To Nail A Live Performance' 101

  • amazing,powerful and timeless

  • I love this song, and loved the live video performance. There is not and never will be another band like Dead Can Dance. Thank you for posting!

  • @chinesecresteddoll

    My avorite is Persephone.

  • love her voice love this music!

is hard to keep my eyes dry with this.. ;)

  • foda!!!!

  • It´s amazing how i discover Dead Can Dance by casualty viewing MTV and they played "Yulunga". From that moment i became a fan of DCD and became the dying of MTV as a true music channel!

  • This is possibly the most extraordinary live recording of any piece of music I've ever heard. Every member of the band constructing this up to and around Lisa Gerrard's supernatural vocals, like they're all on another planet. Perfection.

  • LOS AMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd give a vital organ to see them live.

  • I just hope they meet again for another tour, so that I can finally go to see them. Their music has nothing to do with any other type of music I have ever heard. For me Lisa Gerrard has something special (of course that's pretty obvious) that most people do not see, or do not want to. I'm glad I had discovered this fantastic gruop a year ago, and I'm glad there are people who share this feeling as well.

  • i have to put this right up there with the hokey pokey

  • one can only stand breathless and slackjawed, completely in awe at the immense amount of emotion and energy that this performance just pummels through your entire being with! it bring's me to tears every time and i'm not ashamed to say it dammit! :D i love these guys!!!

  • @bigbadchops I'm agree with you.

  • Ronan O'Snodaigh in red from the band Kila - cool Irish guy.

For me Toward The Within is best played loud in very hot summer during siesta :-)

  • This music is great. Go back and listen to your Britney Spears.

  • cantara is way better

  • It's a shame this song has 25K views only .

  • IM IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG !

  • DCD is a feast for the ears!

  • This is in the top 5 faves from them for me. It rattles the prostate.

  • ang lufet!!!!

  • aw - what was the editor thinking! heard this years ago and was blown awa and dying to see it. Just when Lisa is tearing the sky asunder with the final leg of the song the editor is showing the maracas - darn it!

  • you can buy the dvd of the concert try ebay i got it for 5 quid

  • Lisa Gerrard ~-~simultaneously a breath of invigorating, and fresh air~-~~-~while delivering the thirst quenching sounds of the above. A dove. PEACE

Thank you Dead Can Dance, for this performance, to the person who provided, and the creator, for allowing me to download it when i didn't have the cash to purchase it properly!

    ~-Outward Change Begins Within-~

  • when she hits that last note and the song abruptly ends... man, that's powerful.

'within the realm of a dying sun' and 'the serpent's egg' are awe inspiring records.

  • Impresionante.

  • Such wonderful live performers... I gotta ask, are they using words or just nice sounding vocal noises

  • The latter is more or less true.

  • i had a chance to see their show. unforgettable, Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry were two gods on the stage.

  • This a real treat and gives wonderful insight into DCD.

  • thanks so much for uploading it again, there used to be a vid of this that got removed, looked for it for mad long, litteraly in lack of her voice :o

  • I always have goosebumps upon goosebumps through the entire song everytime I hear it!

  • Gracias, Thanks, Danke, Tack, Merci, Grazie....my international attempt to say Thanks for posting. Freaking You Tube Nazis will take this song off in a couple of days probably but I am so glad you posted!

  • I absolutely love this song! There is nothing like losing yourself in artfully crafted music like DCD!

  • I saw DCD in concert several years ago, and I can say honestly, it was the most pure musical experience I've ever had. Tears were streaming down my face most of the time.

This music is not for everyone, but the people that were with me also had a similar reaction. It's so powerful; spiritual in a way, as one felt such reverence with this music and all the people in the audience. You could hear a pin drop in between songs. Brendan asked at one point, "Is anyone out there?". Just beautiful.

  • The melody is played using a Chinese dulcimer.

:) a Tudat..

  • Listening to Lisa Gerrard talk is a beautiful experience in itself. Her eloquence and intelligence are quite mesmerising....and then she sings..what a penetrating, soul-opening ride she takes you on. I get lost in her vocals, they flood my brain and my soul.

  • I need to get some kind of brain implant that plays Cantara all the time.

  • Agreed.

  • i love this song, but i also love anyone who listens to it. so many videos i see on youtube have silly comment arguments. it seems anyone who truly enjoys this type of music is enlightened in some way.

  • i am happy to ear your comment , i believe it to , this music is not for everybody , for me is pure magic

  • i agree =)

  • Agree...100%..too

  • @HisDudeness117 i agree, anyone who listens to it is cool.

  • @HisDudeness117 I absolutley adored what you've just stated.

  • @HisDudeness117

    oh please....

  • @HisDudeness117

Thanks -- I've been on to Lisa Gerrard for about 4 years. I thank God I stumbled on the group and her.

  • @HisDudeness117

    i love you man

  • I love this song and both Lisa and Brendan.
