  • Jay-Z is a dope artist and performer, I would love to see him live. Respect that people have different music tastes and if you can't respect that, then your whole perspective is whack.

  • all these goddamn phonies, commenting on youtube. ill bet youre all goddamn happpy

  • And bye the way Gifty, i love loads of black artists.

    Real fuckin artists.

I could give ya long list of names? but i'd be here all fuckin day...

  • Hey Ho hey ho hey ho hey ho....and on and on and on....hey ho hey ho hey

  • What a stupid American materialistic TWAT.

All these have to sing about, is murder, diamonds, and their bitches in the club...

What the fuck would they know about Rock n Roll ??

Thank fuck i'm not a modern Yank!

    Cause their all fuckin Thick!!

Jesus, if Kurt and Jim where alive today ??

  • @HitchHikersBlues try to interpret what they say seeing the background of most of the rappers that have risen to fame... as jay-z puts it in "99 problems" : "if you grew up with holes in your zapatos, you'll celebrate the minute you was having dough".... it is their special way to convey emotions and feelings, revisiting their way from the gutter to the olympus of their musical genre (at least that's true for jay-z, cause he really did it)

  • @HitchHikersBlues Look mate, i have a gift. I like and appreciate both Rap and Rock, i know i know you want to be able to do this to but you can't. You're too narrow minded.

Most of the rappers who rap about "money, diamonds, murder ect. ect." (and tbh i don't think Jay-Z fits that catagory) have lived shit lives with shit upbringings and next to nothing. Then they discover they have a real talent, earn loads of money and rap about it. I would if i became a millionaire off one of MY talents

  • @samliffe My mind is only as narrow, as your's is wide...Mate!

And to your comment about being gifted? anyone could fuckin tell ya their gifted.

In my view, these so called ''Musicians'' live in a shit culture of expensive MTV video's, and an image which consists of how many diamonds you can carry on your neck, or how many pairs of trainers you can sell in a year.

All one has to do is watch the episode of J.Ross with Puff Diddy a few weeks back, and you'll see how little talent this guy has.

  • I'm so glad I don't have to live in that country full of haters. I went to england back in the late 90's and I never seen so many people that hate on others in my life.

  • nah don't come back, we want it to sell out.

  • @TheMrbollox Why do you want it to sell out? Less people there!

  • ...musical genre. especially with most of the music itself being found material or 'not live'. is this not similar to what dj acts, like the chemical brothers, orbital, prodigy or basement jaxx (to name a few) do with samples or 'live' performances? the performance of rap, live, is incredibly difficult and requires extreme personal talent. This seems to have been overlooked by a lot of people. Didn't glasto also have the valkyries operah pyramiding it in 2005? performance art, surely?

  • glastonbury is a PERFORMANCE ARTS festival not strictly a music festival. music is just the biggest music forms there. jay z is the most relevant hip hop artist currently (obviously debatable - but sales wise unquestioned) and this is how glastonbury still remains an important and relevant festival, always two or three years ahead. muse and kings of leon weren't headline acts until they smashed it there. as with moby. hip hop is an important performance art, it's a very different style of..

  • i have no problem with jay z being a part of Glastonbury, hes a good rapper, but i do have a problem with someone who doesn't know how to play an actual instrument headlining a, Glastonbury, musician's festival. if they got a rapper(s) to headline it should have been the roots because they could link the two genres much better. because i know a bunch of people who went to Oz fest when snoop was performing and they were just not having fun...

  • Theres only one flaw in that, The Roots; incredible as they are, arent nearly as famous in the UK as Jay-Z is.

  • Comment removed

  • @guerillacat Jay still tore it up though. he might not be able to play instruments but the guy is a genious, cut him some slack. i mean aint glastonbury about the arts? hip hop artists are the best poets to ever walk earth, ever. double entendres and stuff like that, shouldnt that qualify them to headline glasto?

  • @TaZ101SAGA Making comments like that makes you look like a complete twat :)

  • Interesting how I never hear about Nas headlining in the US, or ANYWHERE for that matter...lol. Roc 4 Life.

  • as long as lil wayne doesnt go, im easy :)

  • oh no no please keep glastonbury as a rock/ indie festival. please! its like the only one left!

  • no im not just a hater I like some of his songs, but he is such a douchebag and doesnt come close to being as talented as Nas or JMT.

  • Listen to Nas Illmatic, and pretty much all of Jedi Mind Tricks and tell me that Jay-Z compares in depht of the lyrics, Jay-Z isnt in the same league.

  • listen to jay=z first album and tell me nas is better

  • says it all. Any critics that say it was a 'mistake' to put Jay on saturday were wrong. The fact in was so conreversial made it one of the best headliners I've seen at Glatonbury.

Like he said, everyone did good, so whats the problem? lol

  • Very true.... I'm from New York, And before Jay did that at Glaston I aint even know what it was, well i've heard about it but not really cared, then Jay performed there, And the whole city of NY knew what it was, Now that means Jay is not only one of the best acts at the Festival, Hes also putting that Festival out to a wider range of people... I mean think how many MORE people watched it knowing Jay was gonna perform....

  • nas is cool but jay has jus been at the same level 4 so meny years

  • i 100% disagree i think the band was awesome

  • lol people are so judgemental - grow some balls!! as the reporter said, alot of people were skeptical about the performance, even noel went to lengths to say he no fucking chance. yet, on the night he was a stand out performance and i bet alot of people who didn't buy tickets regret it now! OASIS is huge in the rock industry, but up themselves, Jay-z is massive is the rap business and likes to have some tongue in cheek fun. each to their own, sick of fuckwits dissing either of them.

  • Fuck Jay Z he is a terrible mainstream rapper, listen to real hip hop ie. Nas, Jedi Mind Tricks - jay-z is nothing but a pussy.

  • right, right, go listen to Friend or Foe and Friend or Foe 98, Streets is Watching, Moment of Clarity, Rap Game/Crack Game, Where I'm From, Dead Presidents, Come and Get Me, and Watch Me

then say what you said again.

  • yes nas is great but Jay Z is the greatest and u just a hater thats all

  • jay z is a king on all fronts..i watched from nigeria west africa and he killed it.....respect hiphop man....

  • if jay-z was such a big success at glastonbury how come its the only year it hasnt sold out? cause jay-z headlined it never sold out people never went cause they said jay-z shouldnt headline it should be for a bigger rock band.

  • the recession is worldwide son.

  • In times of recession, it is widely understood that demand for more sincere, quality, music is demanded. Ie; The explanation for the Grunge explosion. Explain this. Daughter. Or rather, my bitch.

  • i don't think jay-z has as big of an impact in the uk as he does in the states. love him or hate him the guy was a pioneer and is a legend.

  • no kidding, jay z sucks balls! Oasis would have sold out Glastonbury 100 nights in a row!

  • Oasis claim to like the Beatles, which is weird, because the Beatles were always interested in, and experimented with, any different genre of music they encountered.

Oasis, on the other, are boring, reactionary, 'soft-racist' chauvinist pricks....

    Any questions?

  • 1)Realise how Oasis actually, well, DO, do other genres of music - Rock, and Acoustic. Yeah, there's only 2, but hey, awesome bands like AC/DC only did Rock'n'roll, but they still own.

2)Just because someone likes a band doesn't mean they have to be completely like them. Sorry to keep referring to AC/DC, but still, Angus Young - HUGE smoker. I don't smoke, nor ever will. Does that mean i can't like AC/DC?

3)Listen to 5 different Oasis songs and tell me that they are boring...

    Out of Room...

  • Erm. If you like Oasis then fair enough, but since when is 'acoustic' a genre!?!?!?!

Secondly I listened many times to their supposed 'masterpiece' which was their 2nd album and, in my view, yeah it's boring.

It's weird how they 'model themselves' on the Beatles since the Beatles were about breaking new ground, which I think is the point I made before....

Oasis are the epitomy of the dull unimaginative Conservatism which is stifling modern popular music, hence the 'objection' to Jay Z....

  • i did't read the part after acoustic not being a genre it is.

  • i fond most of their songs boring, oasis except for wonderwall and dont look back in anger.... and thats because they were played at my prom, other than that, i cant sit down to listen to oasis.

  • @irvin2cartel

Seriously 2 songs? every song on their first 2 albums is a classic plus 10 or so wonderful b sides, and that's just the tip of the iceberg for me.

I actually dislike don't look back in anger aswell.

  • @TheMrbollox ye man, just 2 songs. but thats mainly because i wasnt exposed to that kind of music, however, at least i tried to listen to them. what i didnt understand was why jays appearance at glasto so controversial. i still dont get that.

  • @irvin2cartel

Yh he did well according to my friend, but you've got to understand that the British press are the worst, they will find a quote said by someone, whether they were drunk or just said it at the spare of the moment, and it all get's hyped up.

  • chauvinist pricks? you sound like a right fag ,stick to lady gaga and that little fanny hole kanye west, I can imagine thats more your type of scene, why dont you put them on at the same time and wank your tits off to the different genres!

  • fuck you jayz ruled it

  • OMG I never thought I would see the day when Jay-Z- THE LEGEND- is going to be referred as Beyonce's other half, like that is all he is known for. I guess you could say that hov is beyonce' s bitch now!=) ha ha ha!

  • In my opinion, Jay-Z is one of the few rap acts that would be eligible for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Others include Public Enemy, Dr. Dre, and Run DMC.

  • Mum, gimme back my laptop.

  • LMAO!
