  • Walt Disney's The Parent Trap girl fight at the Camp Inch Dance at 03:16.

  • Flick the Duck Munchy Beaver and Roquefort the Mouse from JumpStart Why Did The Stop can fly in JumpStartville and Lake Hoohaw Remember to Stop Look and Listen at 00:01.

  • Wow. Imagine if we were to go back into time and find all our favorite disney characters on opening day. What a big difference they would be. I didn't even recognize Mickey and Minnie until they said their names.

  • mickey and minnie look sooooo scary.

  • Fantasyland is my favorite place in disneyland. I feel like such a kid every time i visit

  • What I wouldn't give to have been there that day. I love Disneyland, and would love to work there someday. To give joy to someone like so many people there have given joy to me. :)

  • Does Mickey fucks minney

  • The Mouseketeers made their debut at the opening of Disneyland. Mickey and Minnie Mouse were just about to open the doors and bring them out when it was cut out. Also, during the parade Art Linkletter had a hard time introducing them. He had no idea what a Mouseketeer was. I didn't see that either. Why did you cut out the Mouseketeer segments?

  • I didn't know Peter Pan was there from the beginning. Even more amazing that it hung on a monorail from day 1!

  • Happy 56th Birthday, Disneyland!

  • Art Linkletter loses his mic hahaha!

  • Whoa! I well remember as a tyke watching the grand opening of Disneyland at a neighbor boy's house. It was so very very special then, and still is. Disney on Sunday nights was one of the best parts of my childhood. Disney's optimism, hope, and vision continue in so many ways. God bless you Walt Disney!

  • Hehe... Art lost his mic.

  • Yes folks at 2:43 it's the voice of Scrooge Mc Duck him self

  • Sooo much history, we've forgotten sooo much.

  • OMG CHANCE OF A LIFE TIME IS UP NEXT?!

  • @kman5769 That was an old game show.

  • I went recently with a friend....we did it on a budget we did not overspend on souvenirs or eat in the park too much, we ate in places around the park and shared meals, plus we stayed farther away. We only spent about 400 each....including the park, hotel and meals.

  • That's for a semi pass to Disney. I live here in Los angeles and we only spent 300 bucks for the 5 of us. If it's the annual or semi yearly pass it's over a hundred bucks but you can pay in payments if u can't afford it at once and you get discounts if u have those :) it's worth it. If you haven't been there don't complain just go and have fun.

  • I have a friend who recently took his two kids & wife along with a friend of his & his wife & two kids to Disneyland; it cost $1000.00 for a couple of days ($152.00 x 8 = $1000.00). That was JUST TO GET IN THE DOOR.

I don't think that Walt intended a couple of families with kids to have to pay (even in 2010) so damn much to get in for the privilege of standing in long lines all day to get on a few rides or eat with your family. Disney is out of control! Their total bill for 2 days...$1630.00!

  • That pirate ship was busted. The Chicken of the Sea? roflol So it's tuna? roflol

  • Only one person hates Disney.... tsk, tsk, SHAAAAMMMMMEE!!!

  • im not a fan of anything disney but i love watching things like this purely to see what the world was like back then...its so nice how the kids dress and the ladies are so sweet looking and the men actually look like gentlemen...sad how it changed...and while im at it LMAO at the mickey and minnie costumes!

  • ok i have to say it, the jungle cruise needs major updateing, i mean its been the same pretty much from the begining, i just hope one day it is updated, other than that thanks for posting and may we all take something from disneyland in our hearts.

  • @pvtread actually many many things have changed, especially after they aded indiana jones because they had to restructure the ride

  • @gdkstormy I hate movie based rides. What a stooopid idea. Movies get old, and what do you got. A ride based on some sad old 80s movie.

  • At 5:40 i lost it completely and could'nt stop laughing!

  • what's the name of the song at the end??? =][=

  • lol Peter Pan's Flight even had long lines back then haha

  • this is the most wonderful piece of footage thank you for posting this

  • Where is Natures Wonderland? I didn't see it on here. Was it built yet?

  • Thank you for sharing this with the world! I was actually there in July 1955, but not on this first day. Been there so many times since, through all of its changes over the years...and even worked for Disney Studios. So, I guess I am a Major Disney Fan!

    ^^X^^

  • lol at all the separate ticket booths for each ride. I forgot about the A, B, C, D, and ever popular E tickets!!

  • Thank you for posting this! Great step back in time.

  • OK, that's it, I'm building a time machine so I could be there opening day! Thank you so much for posting this, this is truly history in the making! 10 Stars!!!

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA minnie and mickey look so scary hahaha.

  • "The Chicken of the Sea Pirate ship." That's funny!

Can you imagine if we made boys go to Disneyland wearing ties today? It would be considered child abuse! At least the girls could wear sun dresses.

Funny to hear the description of Mr. Toad's ride. Sounds like it hasn't changed.

  • Why is the Mouseketeers section cut out? When Mickey & Minnie opened the Fantasyland Theatre the original Mouseketeers should have come out.

  • I would have loved to expirience it as well

  • At 6:51 they start playing "Zip a dee doo dah" from "Song of the South", even though Splash Mountain didn't appear until 24 years later.

  • mickey and minnie look wierd. Oh menollythebeagol, these days staff dont give a shit

  • It's so sweet the characters are helding the kids on to the rides.

  • I wish that Peter Pan was Flying. then people would be like, "LOOK Its a bird, No its a Plane, NO ITS PETER PAN!!!"

  • OMG thank yew so much for posting this

disneyland has changed alot since this

  • "You can't believe the colors here folks".

Of course they can't, it's black and white.

  • I really enjoyed seeing the opening of Disneyland. Despite all of the technical problems it is still a great piece of history.

  • mickey and minnie look so different!!!

  • All the characters looked different! The characters' costumes evolved alongside the park itself.

  • Oh I love Marjorie Main!!!

  • Hey, I saw a Wall-E easter egg!!!

    Oh wait. No I didn't.

  • Comment removed

  • Pixar wasn't founded yet Pinwormx.

  • Pixar was founded in 1980s but it was shown on Sesamy Street.

  • oh man, that mickey costume is soo primitive

  • Thank you so, so very much for posting this wonderful piece of, not only Disney, but American history! I would love some day to visit Disneyland and walk in the footsteps of Walt Disney, the man who made so many dreams come true for so many people. We miss you Walt!

Thanks so much for posting this! I wish I was around in those days so much! I also hope I get to make it out to Disnyland soon!

  • there was only one ride at Adventureland and it was the jungle cruise.

  • Yes

  • Wow..thank you SO much for posting this! I showed this to my grandma and she remember watching this on TV and it brought back so many memories

  • Omg...look at how short the line is for Peter Pans Flight. Everytime I go it's like a 40 minute wait!!!

  • If you go there directly at the beginning of the day or right after the fireworks, as in stand at the ropes and wait for the fireworks to be over, you won't have a long wait at all.

  • This deserves 200,000,000,000,000 stars!!!

  • Totally and perhaps even more

  • @jollo3417 i know right!!! =][=

  • the charactors looked creepy back in the day! *chills*

  • Thanks for the great series of videos! Man, I am jealous. I wish I was there, but I was born too late! I hope someone invents a time machine.

  • 1:44 So Snow White has a kid?

  • the prince is just carrying a guest

  • It was a much more trusting time and innocent time.

  • Fantasyland was the best land of all. I wish I could be half as successful as Walt Disney was.
