Wow, this video goes back. I love how music brings everyone together, especially during that time. But I love the guy's expression at last 0:15secs of the video lol
all you cry babies whining about "where the music went" LOL people have been saying that for generations. You don't own "good music" just live in the world. If you like the temptations or any group then listen to them. Apparently you just don't like temptations that much since you can't just listen to the art; you have to listen AND compare it. Just be. Temptations are more than your negative rant about other music.
D Town stand up!!!! I'm so f$ckin proud I'm from that city, and I have'nt lived there in 13 years but Detroit is so special and this is proof! Classic, timeless, and beauty at it's best ; this is what my city is known for ; and YESSSSSSSS! My baby Eddie is fine as ever !!!!! 313 stand the f$ck up!
It shows how tight they were to each other. Every so often you see them gave a glance at each other. You're right! Wish we did have a band like this today.
too bad, David Ruffin aka Dennis Rodman is a woman beater!! I heard he beat on Tammi Terrell a lot of times..that's why she got the brain cancer...Tammi Terrell is a famous duet with Marvin Gaye "You're all I need to get By"
These men were so talented. And the industry historically and notorious for pillaging the record deals. I hope they enjoyed the royalties for their royal contribution to music.
Why do these girls scream so much at a concert? I never have. L.O.L. I enjoy the concert and joke around with the people around me. I have a great time. :)
@Veggieman87...I think you got it right. Paul designed their routines back in those days, so he always seems more "into" the steps than the others in the group. Eddie was smooth both on the mike and on his feet, Melvin and Otis were ultimate team players who basically stayed in their lanes while contributing to the group as a whole. Ruffin was always Ruffin for better or worse.
I am imagining some asshole father pitching a hissy fit because his daughter is watching this on TV and enjoying it back then, and he thought it was so sinful....Wonder what parents of that era would think of Lady GaGME?
When they performed in person not before tv cameras, their dancing skills were raw & they had the women screaming and everybody took part in having a good time, you couldn't help but dance...they would be sweatin' and the audience too.
All of them were my guys and what made it better is that they were all tall --tall and lanky David and Eddie, guys like them I always had an attraction toward given that my father was tall. The Classic 5 were instrumental in defining my late childhood taste in music and I'll always love them.
Look at Melvin gettin' down at 1:57. Often underrated, next to Paul he was their second best dancer, with David at third, then Eddie, and atmittedly last, Otis, who said that apart from dancing with the Tempts, he's be a wallflower. You can notice that on the "Ready, Steady, Go" special where they are standing on the wings while Smokey and the Miracles perform. Only Paul, and David are really dancing to the music. Check it out! Ciao!
@renaissanceman165 The way I look at their dancing is like this: Eddie danced but never felt completely comfortable with it, Paul danced because he wanted to dance and spice it up, Melvin was just having a good time, David wanted to stay in the spotlight and grooved accordingly, and Otis danced just to anchor the group. Is that reading too far into it?
not such good quality / the kings, though. Love the way David hides on this one. Still, they were dealing with a US white audience and therefore in exactly the same position as Louis Jordan in the late 40s. Love Eddie, love Dave. The other guys are cool too.
@jasonpfinch i wouldn't say 'exactly the same position as Louis Jordan in the late 40s': no TV to speak of (and no Dick Clark), I don't think Jordan had as many hits in the (white) pop charts and never had a white audience comparable to that of the Temptations or other major Motown groups. Nat Cole might be closer, but still so differently situated I don't see how the comparison yields much insight

@001chatlos001 That's how most audiences were at the time, unless it was The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, James Brown or Jackie Wilson.

The choreography alone was not matched by many groups in the day! Raw soul & talent! Its amazing !

Eddie's voice is almost unbelievable, he's got one of the best falsettos, his voice is very clear, even in that range, which is awesome.
I wonder how they can perform on stage without microphones, it seems like a falsetto would be quiet
