  • @tascoc3 The song is by Slim Dusty, an Australian country singer. If you want to find his early work, look up "Slim Dusty; Pub With No Beer"

  • @tascoc3 Country Australia

  • Those are some big ass trucks. LOL

  • Oh.......and RIP slim you made my childhood

  • Wen you pass one of these monsters at night it bloody nearly blows you off the road! When you follow one you really notice how much they move around!

They are more than just trucks, they are like a massive creature thats demands respect! It would take some serious concentration to drive one.

  • great song and thay are what you call trucks

  • We drive 25m(82') B-doubles through the city and suburbes although we have to stick to approved routes or get some pretty hefty fines if caught off them.

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC

  • @skinnyshit8888 Me too.

  • Impressive trucks aren't they? We call them semis (that's semee, not semii), B-doubles, and B-triples in Australia. Great song from a great Aussie. What an icon he was and a wonderful career. Slim deserved it.

  • WHAT ABOUT MR. NOEL TONES driver of Road Trains of Australia from Katherine.??

  • GREAT FILM & I LOVED THE MUSIC & SONG .FANTASTIC. THANKS FOR SHARING

  • and to think people here in the states are complaining about 53 footers.

My old man loves him too.

    R.I.P. legend.

  • roll on 18 wheeler. lol

  • love this song

  • Gotta love the Northern Territories Road Trains haha

    Aussie Aussie Aussie!

  • 53.5 Meters...That's about 174-feet!!! That's a LONG truck kids!! The longest legal truck in the USA is 65-feet overall length!!! (Occasionally special permits are issued for longr lenghths than this, but 65-ft is the normal limit on US highways)

By the way, I like this song!!

  • This all seems very dangerous.

  • @fizzybrasil perfectly fine if your the only person on the road for 10 miles and your not stupid enough to try and go more than 40mph.

Just remember when your on the road. Semis may have 18+ wheels but that doesn't mean they can stop 4x better.

  • @SpecialKLSX

Mate, the country is big, and barren, enough in the middle bits. Try thousands of miles.

Only thing to look out for are the animals. Fancy hitting a Kangaroo at full speed?

  • @malayrojak lol I've had a few deer think they need to dart out in front of me. Though nothing the weight of a Kangaroo by my estimate.

  • @SpecialKLSX you're so right some here in aus has 86 wheels and weighs almost 200 tonnes fully loaded they aint stoppin in a hurry

  • this is a brilliant death song. I hope someone will upload the original film clip to this song as it brilliantly accompanies this song.

  • I'v come here - same reason I'm wandering across ALL the other AUDIO commented videos here..

To remove (yes.. I will remove) MY OWN COMMENTS .. that have been - over the years .. sucked out of me .. in response to ignorant twats .. whom just wanted to argue

  • @QUIX4U They are good, the law requires them to drop one trailer and drive with a maximum of 2 trailers around town. I live in a city, they drive to the port in traffic.

  • @zefer14 Aye .. but honestly .. (of every trucker - whom long hauls .. multiple trailers).. After travelling hundreds of miles SAFELY .. the only barrier .. to them hauling that many trailers in town .. are but two .. the tighness of city intersectioncorners .. and DAFT city drivers .. (whom dumbly "cut" & run INSIDE the turning arc .. of the all those trailers)

  • @QUIX4U In Townsville the city intersections are very wide. You should see the trucks carrying the giant mining equipment. Now that takes great skill.

  • @QUIX4U think about the size of Nz compared to Aus the long hauls i do are like driving from one end of nz to the other and thats just an interstate trip and as for the zig zag road yes it is a challenge but you obviously have never seen or driven any of the b double or b triple routes in aus . But you can have your glory just hope that you one day get to drive a truck on a real haul then you may fathem how wrong you are about Aussie truckers

  • @EarthmoversDownUnder ? Where on earth .. did U get that assumption from (READ MY COMMENTS .. ? And then - maybe you will actually see.. THAT I BELIEVE that truckies .. are probably the SAFEST DRIVERS .. on the roads.. (otherwise .. why would I suggest - 2months ago - to PUT all car drivers .. in BARRIER PROTECTED LANES .. (so that they can dodgem bash their way along ...?) AND then let ALL truckers .. free access to all OTHER ROADS.. Surely U aren't saying I GOT THAT WRONG? I hate car drivers.

  • Slim at his best .

  • Three trailers is legal on main roads, they have gone longer on dirt roads, you can have two trailers to the northern side of Adelaide, main city of Sth Australia

  • Love it!

  • I hope I see a road train on my way to Colorado from Michigan. With so much ground to cover, I'd be suprised if I didn't!

  • I have driven the Louisville at 2:57.

Not a bad truck to drive.

  • I'm hearing this song every day. At home or in the car. Slim got the right Australian feeling. I love it very much. Yes, I'm missing him very much. In my brain I'm very close to him.

  • is there a maximum length / trailer number?

  • @bangskeetband Depends on the road and the permit lol

  • Super pociągi drogowe , i w ogóle odjazdowo!

  • fj1764.........and im bloody well sick of cars sitting on 70klm in the outside lanes of freeways....get a life u fuckwit.........without trucks australia stops

  • @roadrebel1 With out trucks everyone stops, thats the way the world moves now mate

  • @lertez that holds true here in the states as well (mate) but they never will understand.

  • i would love to go drive those trucks to australia :)

  • I love this song, Slim is wonderful.

  • We DO OWN THE ROAD,fuckhead, stay out of our (trucks way) or weel run ya down

  • John Lewis would be proud to see one of his road trains in this vid......

  • what song name

  • @Fermeris131 light on the hill by Slim Dusty

  • @Fermeris131 lights**

  • Simply wonderful. Slim please come back.

  • seriously people....... over youtube chats? do you people have nothing better to do than fight over fucking youtube!?!?!?!? it just amazes me that people really do that.

  • Comment removed

  • @RadiantArtist because it goes with the trucks you dumb cunt!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @QUIX4U Nope just one acre, preferably with really hard packed terrain.

  • Comment removed

  • @QUIX4U I'm Australian, and I'm not that familiar with country music. I thought you were actually talking about how much room you need to turn a road train around

  • @Mechknight73 As I messaged - so is the song .. But replied here - for everyone elses info too... BIG DAVE & the TENNESSEE TAILGATERS .. 1976 ... Gimme Forty Acres .. - on HITS for a TRUCK DRIVING MAN (including Convoy) re-produced in NZ by Music For Leisure .. 1976 ...Compact Cassette Tape - (P) TSC- 671

  • Shame trucking isn't what it used to be in America.

  • @RocketMaster2 Agreed. I mean, they're still there and all, but it's more of a shadow 'cause people take both our Railroad system and our Trucking industry for granted.

  • @SwampDaddy7 Yes.. and then complain when it all stops too .. dam but some are just never satisfied.. over here in NZ.. we call them another name... Like .. they'd scream if their arses were on fire & scream twice as loud.. if someone pssd'on them - to put it out?

  • @QUIX4U I know, right? Some knuckleheads just don't get it.

  • @QUIX4U Seems to me that some people just don't get it no matter where you are.

  • @SwampDaddy7 Same with young American's attitude of- WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO JAYWALK onrailway lines & gona sue & stab anyone that says we can't.

One that was killed- TRESPASSING "behind" industrial buildings, doing whatever illegal mischief with his cousin - at 5-15AM ...?

When a "passing" train splattered his arse & killed him.

Yes- 5-15 - in the morning.!

Poosbly its those - MUM "only" families- that creates daft youngsters (today) & whom get NONE of the swift kicks, (that we got)

  • @QUIX4U Exactly what I'm talkin' about. I mean sure America is the land of the free (I'm from the US), but that doesn't mean people have the right to be that stupid. I mean come on. You play with fire, you get burned. You mess around on a railroad track, then you best make double-damn sure that the train ain't gonna come past.

  • fuck you fj1764. without trucks australia stops mate. youd have nothing. how you think your food n clothes n shit get to where you buy em? by fucking trucks. you un australian cunt

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • i cant wait for the day all these very dangerous trucks are kept in the left lane and are speed limited to 50kmh all over australia no matter what type of road they are on. Enouogh is enough. People are sick of road hog truck drivers!

  • @fj1764 your a fuckwit fj1764 people are sick of do goodin cunts like you you people fuck this country. with out trucks australia stops.

  • @fj1764 What people? surely you talk of DUMB city folk who've never stepped out their BACK DOOR (so to speak) ? Genuine Australian OUTBACK people know that without these beheamoths on the roads- NOTHING would get their stock to market, & there'd be some five to ten TIMES as many smaller trucks (doing faster speeds) for you silly wee city folk to contend with. (ME - I'm from NZ.. but would prefer to see a few of these... rather than 1,000's of FAST wee trucks?

  • @fj1764 Only a city based moron would say something like this. Trucks are the lifeblood of the country. Without road trains carry the vast majority of what travels interstate and around the state, we'd be up to our necks in it. What do you suggest, spend billions on rail? Transport everything by ship and be at the mercy of the weather?

  • @fj1764 you must be a city dwelling mushroom living in the dark getting fed a lot of bullshit Australia is a BIG country once you get west of the great dividing range. Picture driving sydney to Perth at 50kmh its over 4000km each way & not driving more than the time allowed in your log book each week ARE YOU INSANE

  • @alby1o1 all trucks should be kept in the furthest most left lanes in OUR cities, im sick of trucks everyday climbing up the westgate bridge in every fukn lane like huge hogs. Trucks are the problem on our roads and they need to be put in line

  • Comment removed

  • @fj1764 Actually - ? I'm for a different approach .. shove all CARS - into a few lanes - complete with really high concrete barrier walls ... and let the truckies have access (sole access) to the motorways ...

  • @fj1764 Oh good.!And then - of course .. YOU won't mind paying the exorbatant excessives .. on FREIGHT DELAYED TIMES.. plus the EXTRA COST .. of having several "days qworth of LABOUR COSTS .. added to your ONE BAG OF LOLLIES.. hahah - i can see you now .. sitting dumbly somewhere outback .. with 100grams of sweets ... wondering WHY? Why the $AU3,000 surplus .. FRIEGHT CHARGE .. on that 50c bag

  • road trains are limited to 53 meters when using public roads. but for mining company's with lots of private roads they are able to have any length of train they deem safe. which is why you get these 7-10 trailer trains.

the largest road train ive ever personally seen was only a 3 trailer sheep transport train 3 hours east of perth. they are still a sight to see none the less.

  • makes me proud to be an aussie. keep on truckin

  • Run'en triple's and Quods is the norm up top and down the guts.. Doubles most every where else and singles. Keep it safe boy's & Girl's. Rod

  • this just blew my mind. the most ive seen on a truck was three trailers up in portland. all i know is three mid size trailers can be a bitch. you guys fuckin rock.

  • Most I've seen in Canada is 3 trailers.

  • in the Netherlands this can never happen, lol. But u guys in Australie still have a lot of free space. I love to see these train for real sometime.

  • I'm from America(New York to be specific) and its illegal to drive more then doubles here. I would have a hard on seeing one of these coming down the road. I all I have to say is you Australians are fuckin nuts(I don't mean that in a bad way). What I'm saying is that I wish my balls were half the size of yours. Awesome video.

  • @19thaman79 Head to the north of Australia, and you'll see on some mine haul roads, road trains sometimes pulling four trailers. The crazier ones have been known to sometime pull more.......

  • I've driven trucks in New Zealand, USA, UK, Europe and Australia. I now drive a Kenworth T908 Roadtrain from Perth to Brisbane every week and it's good to see a collection of big boy's toys on this video. " The song is about a trucker's demise in nasty weather and "lights on the hill", is a Permanent memorial that has been send up in New South Wales state to all of those men and women who have given their lives in the road transport industry of Australia.

Thanks from one of the many out there.

  • @johnparkimp3 Perth to Brisbane ? thats a long way.. how long it takes to get from one to another ? im just wonderin' , how often do you take breaks ?

    keep on truckin'!

  • @taslaponthu My journey from Perth to Brisbane with two drivers sharing the driving, takes roughly about 45 hours if towing a "B Double" or about 50 to 55 hours if hauling a Roadtrain. Roadtrains are limited to 90kph in SA, NSW and QLD but 100kph in good ole WA. The Roadtrain route to Brisbane takes you through Outback NSW via Bourke. We do 6 hour shifts. Loaded up and trucking!

  • @taslaponthu 2239 miles/3604 kilometers !thats what google says! oh, man! wish i could be a truck driver in AUS! Im in UK working with a 18T DAF. small ! compared to your truck . haha.. The Bigger the Better !

    I always say..

    God Bless Truck Drivers!

  • @taslaponthu Upgrade to the highes class of HGV licence you can, then come to Australia. All you'd have to do is take a short holiday, and find a trucking company that is willing to sponsor you as a worker. If you can drive a Road Ranger gearbox, the rest is just getting used to an extra trailer. Western Australia is your best bet for finding truck driving work at the moment

  • Love it and i love roadtrains

  • Love it and i love roadtrains

  • I like it very much

  • apparently they can drive in australia

  • @Bigb1114 YES.. especially when MOST of the "inland" North Central & Western roads.. are UNSEALED.. and basicly .. just one long series of RED mud holes - in the WET (monsoon season)

  • So ein Ding würde ich gerne mal fahren....

  • I'm American and I want to see road trains before I get old. It would be super cool to ride in one for a day.

  • @gruvens Can you drive an 18-wheeler? If you can, and you can make some arrangements, they're always on the lookout for drivers

  • RIP Slim

  • what happens when a blow out spreads somewhere? Scarey...

  • Love It.. My husband is log truck driving as we speak, I used to pull trains here in Canada, but I know we'd LOVE IT !!!

  • Are there dangerous mountains in Australia (up to 3 times tight) as here in Mexico?

  • Only in the south, most of Australia is fairly flat and very dry.

  • thats so cool! Awsome! Looooong big trucks! But in sweden, we have bigger and better trucks! Scania! bulit for driving om ice, snow and bad roads!

  • hey mate in aussie they got kenworth the best fr more than 60 years ...cant argue that

  • Comment removed

  • @bb12832 Scanias fall apart in Australia, they are ok on the main highway, but no good on rough roads, same as all European trucks. The American trucks are designed and made in Australia to suit the conditions here

  • Comment removed

  • Agreed

  • I think that this makes every Australian proud of who we are and what every good old school Aussie is made from!!!

  • @xtradry345 ...Man I have not seen anything like this, this is a train for the highway only in Australia could you see this. I know they would not let us do that in the U.S. all I can say is do it Mate.

  • @kidcoast777 If you want to see a different definition of "road trainn" look up "RTL-1;" an experiment in turning a Western Star Constellation into a locomotive on rails

  • Comment removed

  • Love it very much, strong heart beating. Great as always from Slim.

  • nice vid mate i wanna get into the roadtrains but no one wants to giv me a go lol o well ill keep tryn tho awsome vid bud

  • ooh yeah brings back soo many memories of my dad who trucked most of Aus i treasure my childhood times of my travels with him singing along to slim n others geez i miss him! best father a girl could have.RIP Georgie

  • Rip. x

  • @0116me thankyou i appreciate it was just having a moment

  • good one mate.. i remember days and nights up and down the hume pacific newell and bruce highways when we use to crank this song to the crank of the diesel engine.. it goes really really well when you get a good run across some flats and wind out the diesel up to 170km/hr and have this song with its beat and strum going with the motor..id recommend it in any safeish sorta stretch of road that drivers just give it to it and go when this song comes on..

  • fuckin hell mate

  • @deficateonyamate ? OH well golly gosh .... me thinks U'd be lost for words - to see the guiness book of records raodtrain then .. it only had 16 or so trailers.. BUT it still moved .. about a 1/4 mile I think ... as it actually HAD to be able to pull all of them - for the record.

  • @deficateonyamate (oops that was a few yrs ago) The latest record was set on 18th February 2006 by Brisbane truckie John Atkinson with his Mack Titan truck.

After 6hrs assembling 113 trailers into a 1,474.3 metre long road train in 38 degree heat on a closed stretch of highway outside Clifton, Queensland, John got in his truck and drove his way into the Guinness Book of World Records. He did 140 metre in 50 seconds with nearly one-and-a-half kilometres of truck weighing more than 1300 tonnes!

  • awesome slide show n song mr tibbs keep em comin!

  • @5000names well youre here watching it wanker

  • your here watching it you fuck wit

  • get the sand outta yer crotch n shut up bitch. if ya dont like it fuckin move on

  • how to they unload those trailer ? the same way like doubles and triples in the US

  • prity much we do longer hours and us drives depanding on the fright have to help unload so basicaly dock and forklift but we split it up befor we go in to a main citty

  • @sleepybmw which is why some roadtrain CITY depots just have tractor crews waiting .. & they're there simply to tow the EXTRA road train "trailers" when they hit town .. (similar to a railway's de-marshelling yard eh?)

  • My favorite Slim Dusty-song, thank You!

    RIP, Slim.

    R. from Germany

  • u hippies need 2 get a life!! road trains rule and this is slim dusty singin sooo shup!!! respect

  • Comment removed

  • I can't imagine something more awesome than a road train. Just look at it: if single truck is the symbol of awesomness, then roadtrain is the awsomness, but multiplied! :D Fuck yeah!

  • @Wajlonis Um- I can - ..an actual train.. (after all - the Australian roadtrain - is simply a "quick_fix" truckies version - of a railway ... disappearing into the vast outback where the use of ordinary roads - is far simpler than the laying of thousands of miles of railways... and thus - the original ? QUICK_FIX ... is now the rule of thumb - for most outback regions...

  • @ Peterl44

That is a hard question. But in case to save the planet I think the whole human race must been destroyed. But that we dont wont, of course.

  • @Peterl44

Sorry, I dont agree with you.

  • well what do you think we should do to save the planet...

  • @ Battery

Because the country is very huge and we would loose flexibilty.

  • I think we should ban all bikes, cars, buses and have only Trucks,4wds & V8's....cut down all the trees...and vote for the National party...What do you think?

  • i think if its just getting round locally we should all be doin it on horseback but further out and interstate yea truck,4wd,v8s sound good oh n leave the trees
