Duh, he was working on his topspin rather than diagramming English sentences.
When you win the French Open at the age of 17, some kind of trade-off occurred. I guess he passed on learning a 3rd language and focused on passing shots.
P.S. His English constantly improves BTW...it gets better the more he travels
