The only good thing in this scene is that peugot survived while the beema got destroyed, Seriously though that's a ridiculus chase. There is no sparks coming out of cars when they crash, police officer wouldn't end a chase after 5 seconds by flipping his car upside down but the worst of all is that they show a WOMAN driving, now who's gonna believe that? Almost everything in action scenes in movies are visual effects and fast editing.

The explosions are nice and all but, I like that they weren't given too much attention. Focus is on the cars and the drivers operating them. Great scene. Awesome film.

I friggin LOVE this car chase... i love how theres no suspensful music until they start driving the wrong way so that it makes it more intense... i love the explosions! and the acting is superb! the bit were the guy fastens his seatbelt is pure gold :) heres hopin the 'Fast Five' can provide similar car chases!

@gothips Peugeot in 1998,when the film was made produced a 406 with a 3ltr V6 with 190HP,the 1999 model of the V6 produced 210HP,the straight six BMW 535I E34 produced 211HP.This makes the cars not too much of a mismatch with neither having a significant advantage.Though the BMW would probably be slower due to being a much heavier car.The Peugeot's were very tinny,plasticy and lighter in comparison.Ronin has been a favourite of mine for many years,excellent film!!

Not into incoming traffic. I used to have a 210bhp 406 V6, an M5 would screw it every which way, I'll admit that, but when you wanted, it could be hustled quite incredibly. A proper wheelman, like DeNiro plays here, would be able to catch up again when the lead car (M5) has the difficulty of oncoming traffic to deal with...

I think that it was a product placement of Peugeot. The chase shows how cool the car is. At that time 406 was quite new and e34 bimmer wasn't in production any more so they could do whatever they wanted to bmw. So that's why bimmer couldn't get rid of "angry" french piece of ... am.. car industry))
