He has changed in his looks since then. Now he doesn't wear glasses and he shaved off his mustache. I have been a fan of his since I was 3 years old and am still a fan of his :) Now he's married and has a daughter Nina. Crazy how things change :) I LOVE "WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC!!!!
One thing I like about al is that his popularity has surged without being arrested, put in rehab, getting divorced, being a pregnant teen, having a sister that's pregnant, gaining 200 lbs, having anorexia, making sex tapes or getting out of a limo without his thong on. He's just so innocent - or so we think. Lol!
This was a hilarious clip! Joan Rivers was surprisingly easy on him! There's an even funnier clip of the band GWAR on her show from about a year or two after this one. It's floating around somewhere on DailyMotion or MilkandCookies. Maybe someone already put it here on YouTube, but I don't know. You should check that one out!

Are you sure this is 1988? Al's hair is much longer in this clip than it was in '88. It looks much more like '92.
Odd that he wasn't promoting anything...
