  • You say Ritchie Blackmore--I say..miserable satanist. NO ONE..except his wife wants anything to do with this man and his attitude and demonic paranoia.

  • January 25th 1985, Reunion Arena, Dallas TX. my birthday present!!

  • i saw this concert at the checkerdome in st louis, fucking blew me AWAY

  • This is, definitely one of their best perfomances of this song live. And, with Blackmore!

  • great

  • The tension in this band is beyond anything I have ever seen in my life. They all look so uneasy with Ritchie on stage.

  • magnifico, uma das músicas da minha vida......

  • /watch?v=0aLTBSdwNBY

listen to the very good cover

  • young kids need to listen to "machine head" cool album !!

  • comingo to brazil!!!!!!!!! Tnks god!!!!

  • Oh, well, he didn't leave the stage THIS time. Good for him lol. No need trying to figure the guy out, I guess.

  • Ritchie actually left the stage, didn't he? Sounded like a 3-piece band during last half. Oh, well, there's no one like him, but at least Steve Morse is great, too, and a nice guy! Amazing that these guys playing into their 60s.

  • @Motoroilspill Yeah, Ritchie got pretty nasty toward "the end." Too bad, he is great guitar player. D'ya think he was jealous of Gillan? Or just plain moody. Have read Ian's autobiography, and he says some things won't be known until they're both dead?!

  • i cant believe ritchie blackmore wasnt playing that night

  • Okay, I saw Ritchie - low profile lol.

  • @Lil1943 He was pissed at this night so he wansnt playing good on purpose

  • Does anyone know what year? Who was guitar player? Couldn't see - surely not Ritchie - he would have been showcasing! (loved his playing, though, no one like him!)

  • 7 people are perfect dumbs

  • Gött så man får piggeskinn

  • they just marinate.....til we neeed 2 rok emAGAIN \m/

  • 7 People are bald and jealous of their hair ;)

  • @Onlinemoneymaker321 Yer man Ritchie's as bald as an eagle under that ridiculous piece.

  • @Onlinemoneymaker321 And so is Ian Paice. Deep Purple in this video is like the house band for Hair Club for Men.

  • @Onlinemoneymaker321 And roger glover needs to take the lid off and let it shine, too.

  • @Onlinemoneymaker321 now they are 8:

  • I was 15 when this album came out. Caught both nights at the Brendan Byrne arena in 1985. I can still the light show from this song in my head. Excellent

  • fucking great

  • Paice is absolutely devouring those drums!

  • @sejobl i like his wig

  • @narggla68 His AND Richie's!

  • AQUELLOS TIEMPOS PASADOS QUE BONITO ES RECORDARLO NUNCA VOLVERAN JAMAS

  • Deep Purple это музыка моей молодости ЖИВА и будет ЖИТЬ

95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop songs over and over. if your one of the 5% left who still listen to real music, thunb this up, then copy and paste it to least 5 video's. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK&ROLL DIE

  • @karilaukkanen63

Well I agree with you but seriously, grow up...

  • @karilaukkanen63

You say Britney Spears, I say Pink Floyd ;d

  • @karilaukkanen63 add Pink Floyd

  • @karilaukkanen63 Agree with you 1000000000% rock%roll is way superior !!

  • Back then artists were real, composing and playing their own music ... one of my all time fav bands ...

  • This live concert was AMAZING to a 16 year old girl back in 1984!!!!!! So glad I was able to see this brilliant group of musicians before it was too late.......SO AWESOME! GREAT live show!

  • @TheTraci1968 this is from 93, NEC

  • I dislike how incredibly unlike he is to his performance on the record.

  • @DreamyGhost1492 Thats the biggest part of seeing stuff live -

ya hardly ever get the same exact performance twice ! Its like seeing it new every time.

To all the critics who slam live shows - just play the CDs if ya don't like it

  • 6 people likes Justin Bieber

  • Have you seen the cover made by Ari Koivunen, It´s great!

  • Deep Purple, one of the most glorious of rock bands. A great band for all its members and throughout its history. Very good topic! and very good video!

  • I loved DP when i was a teenager, bought an album with bubbles on the cover, cant remember the title but 1 track was called Mary Long (How DID she lose her virginity?)

  • @MsFrantasia ,

"Who Do We Think We Are" was the album title. "Mary Long was a hypocrite, she does all the things she tells us not to do...."

  • I loved DP when i was a teenager, bought an album with bubbles on the cover, cant remember the title but 1 track was called Mary Long (How DID she lose her virginity?)

  • THE BEST...EVER!!!!

  • To The 6 Dislikes!

You would not know a good rock

song if it hit you upside the Head!!

  • I remember this was one of my "LOUD" songs (among many) back in the 80's. Great "album"...which I still have.

  • How is ABBA in the rock and roll hall of fame and not DP??? Can anyone explain this to me? I am not the right generation for this(2010/26 yrs old), but I know good music when I hear it. Then again generation doesnt mean sh!t, music is music, if its good its ageless.

  • @MrTinman613 hahahah perhaps that's why some call it the "hall of shame" :P

  • Ahhh I remember these days partying down with Deep Purples music.

  • perfect rock

  • i went to this concert back in 1984, would have to put it in my top 3 for sure, and i have seen bands like pink floyd, black sabbath, eric clapton, iron maiden, roger waters, metallica, the who, judas priest, and the majority of those were back in the 80's...i was pretty lucky to grow up with great music, now the big name's in live shows are all the old bands doin a reunion tour....also saw robert plante and jimmy page together twice...

  • DAS ist geile Rockmusik...! THIS is finest Rockmusic, ...no doubt!!!!

    Christoph

  • T o t a l i ! !

  • i don't care wath people say.... for me, ian gillan is better as singer, than richie blackmore as guitarist, for that reason, ian is the best in deep purple

  • @Aztlnight

Yeah but he can't sing like he used to sing on Child in Time.

  • @gombie yeah, that's really sad

  • So polished, so perfect, so Deep Purple!

  • ohh my god.... i almost die.. this is too awesome

  • i don't care wath people thinks... for me, ian gillan is by far, the best singer in the world. that's all.

  • There's only one thing that sounds like a Hammond screaming through a Leslie, only one thing that nails THAT sound: a REAL Hammond/Leslie. Jon Lord rules.

  • THE BEST.GONNA WATCH THIS ALL NIGHT.MANY THANX

  • Must have been a pretty lame concert! I have seen them go Fuckin' CRAZY! The have made far better live performances, than this one. BUT, they're STILL one the GREATEST ROCK BANDS EVER!!

  • Oh Lord Yessss....This will get you going on that long drive home.....

  • sorry spike ( what a cool name by the way) you have to appreciate the music for what it is-not how it's labeled. This ain't metal...just a great tune from a band that has lasted 40 freakin' years! Truly an iconic band in rock n roll!!!!

  • Life=love

  • CHECK THE VERSION OF PERFECT STRANGERS BY MY BAND LOOKING FOR"VUCAQUE PERFECT STRANGERS"-

  • I saw this live in 1984 in Adelaide South Australia, it was an unforgetable concert and an everlastign memory.

  • this is the king of hard rock!!

  • Ian Paice is one of the greatest drummers ever. And DP isn't DP without Ian Gillan singing. And I don't even want to get started about Blackmore's mastery of the guitar. Let's just say they're good.

  • Simply the Best

  • Why is Ritchie doing some middle age gay shit... he's born for Hard Rock :D

  • Ian is touring again.

  • Revolver Ocelot on keys...

  • seriously. -_- hard rock man such a dumass.

  • hardrock metal whatever yes this is hard rock heavy rock, but the scream is archetypal metal scream Indeed

  • yes metal screm Indeed

  • if I say it´s a metal scream than it is so

  • @spike6819 Actually it can be considered Heavy Metal aswell...

  • i wish there were bands like this forming from today's era not the shit all the rock bands produce, this is what i call music

    sad really

  • I do remember it was great in Houston Tx. than in 1985 with same laser beams , inside Summit was one huge cloud of smoke . Now Lakewood Church got the arena .

  • i was in 9th grade when it cam out.life was so easy then.

  • THAT is how it is done...i really miss those days.

  • Great performance. \m/

  • @Diofan1952 Well imagine finding YOU here. LOL \m/

  • I saw this tour twice in 1985. I saw the USA opening event at Reunion Arena, Dallas, TX. And Deep Purple closed that tour by being the headliner for the Texas Jam August 25, 1985. I was 16 years old and still had a very full head of hair. I'm happy they are still touring and will have to look for them if they make it over to the US again...

    ~J~

  • the key board solo is the best ever

  • super

  • 4:02 gr8

  • 4:04 godfather of metal screaming shows how It´s done

  • aha lol :)

  • gr8 song Indeed

  • Surely the best best Song by Deep Purple/Rainbow in the eighties. - The performance of the band in this video is though a bit lazy ...

  • This song is so powerful, completed fullfilled of sense...!!!!! Thank you DEEP PURPLE for all those great moments we've shared..!!!

  • he sings lead on the black sabbath album born again

  • I love this song... it gets inside a person's soul. Yeah, it might sound stupid. But I love it & that is how I feel

  • I'm with you, youtubtubing! This song is very haunting

  • Fuck no you ain't stupid-This is excellent!!!! Sorry you missed this when you were young. This came out my freshmen year in college. Oh I remember drinking PBR, playing frisbe and grilling steaks (my roomie had a Dr. for a dad). Great time, great music. Shit, they don't make it like this anymore!

  • lucky!!!

  • I had to laugh when I saw you mentioned playing frisbee. When Perfect Strangers came out my friends and I would put the tape (no CDs then, or at least no one I knew had one at the time) in a boombox and play tennis to it. People give me a weird look now when I tell them that but, hey, that was our thing. Those were the days!!!

  • @darke812 wise words...Rush on !!!!

  • @darke812 Dude You hit the nail on the head with that, They don't Make it like this

Anymore Well lets just say not much anyway !!! I remember When you only heard a synthesizer when Peter Frampton sang "Do You Feeel Liiike I Doooo ?"

Now it's all like that or auto-tuned And our Parent's thought our Music was Bad !!!

Just enjoy it while you still "Can"

  • This is one of the best songs EVER. Lyrically brilliant, Musically ...well, brilliant. Gillian pulls off Robert Plant type range . Jon Lord ....Brilliant. And Ritchie Blackmore's Guitar work is masterful , even in a song that doesn't barely have a solo to speak of. The official video however (which I watch about once a month) Is one of the worst videos EVER made. This is in my top ten ...Period.

  • How did I miss out on this song as a teen? Of course I remember Hush, Smoke on the Water and My Woman From Tokyo, but I can't believe that I missed this beautiful song!!! Awesome performance by everyone!!! But of course Ian Gillan's incredible vocals and Master Blackmore's genius are standouts. Perfect!!!

  • How the hell did I miss this music when I was young? Now, since we are talking (in comments below) about depth, I'd like to add the lyrics are incredible!!

  • PONADCZASOWE

  • strongman u don't have to comment or even watch this video if u don't like it. Trance is good, but u can't compare two totally different genres, so just close this window if u don't like it and stop saying 'deep purple is bad' if u don't know anything about this great band ok?

  • Perhaps i didnt say it quite right, its not "bad" itself, but its bad music for me.

And no, i dont understand the depth of this kind of music. And surely you dont understand the depth of trance etc.

And willpilika, i respect your limitations of understanding that all people arent the same ;)

  • I respect your limitations... it is not easy to understand the depth of the feelings involved in Jon Lord's keys...

  • Lol..., touché :D

  • You're right, we all have different tastes, but don't you dare to call this bad.... Probably you just don't like, but that's ok

  • no hay que hacerle deep purple suena distinto cuando toca blackmore complementa la esencia del grupo

  • does anybody know the date?

  • 84-85

  • at 2:34 is the reason why i will listen to Rock until the day I die...look how Jon Lord plays his Hammond, enjoying and feeling the song deep in his veins... that is real music!! made with heart...

  • ian jesus christ gillan rock god

  • ... he dance like a omniscient observer ... perfect perfomance ... :--------)

  • Can you remember remember my name

As I flow through your life

A thousand oceans I have flown

    And cold spirits of ice

    All my life

I am the echo of your past

  • I am returning the echo of a point in time

    Distant faces shine

A thousand warriors I have known

And laughing as the spirits appear

    All your life

    Shadows of another day

And if you hear me talking on the wind

    You've got to understand

    We must remain

    Perfect Strangers

  • I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow A strand of silver hanging through the sky Touching more than you see The voice of ages in your mind Is aching with the dead of the night Precious life (your tears are lost in falling rain) And if you hear me talking on the wind You've got to understand We must remain
  • ritchie blackmore is the greatest lead guitarist the world has ever known. Deep purple's evergreen music will withstand the test of time. Legacy of Deep Purple is unstoppable.

  • and thats a fact==}}

  • are myths! have made the story of rock!
