You say Ritchie Blackmore--I say..miserable satanist. NO ONE..except his wife wants anything to do with this man and his attitude and demonic paranoia.
Ritchie actually left the stage, didn't he? Sounded like a 3-piece band during last half. Oh, well, there's no one like him, but at least Steve Morse is great, too, and a nice guy! Amazing that these guys playing into their 60s.
@Motoroilspill Yeah, Ritchie got pretty nasty toward "the end." Too bad, he is great guitar player. D'ya think he was jealous of Gillan? Or just plain moody. Have read Ian's autobiography, and he says some things won't be known until they're both dead?!
Does anyone know what year? Who was guitar player? Couldn't see - surely not Ritchie - he would have been showcasing! (loved his playing, though, no one like him!)
I was 15 when this album came out. Caught both nights at the Brendan Byrne arena in 1985. I can still the light show from this song in my head. Excellent
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop songs over and over. if your one of the 5% left who still listen to real music, thunb this up, then copy and paste it to least 5 video's. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK&ROLL DIE
This live concert was AMAZING to a 16 year old girl back in 1984!!!!!! So glad I was able to see this brilliant group of musicians before it was too late.......SO AWESOME! GREAT live show!
Deep Purple, one of the most glorious of rock bands. A great band for all its members and throughout its history. Very good topic! and very good video!

How is ABBA in the rock and roll hall of fame and not DP??? Can anyone explain this to me? I am not the right generation for this(2010/26 yrs old), but I know good music when I hear it. Then again generation doesnt mean sh!t, music is music, if its good its ageless.

i went to this concert back in 1984, would have to put it in my top 3 for sure, and i have seen bands like pink floyd, black sabbath, eric clapton, iron maiden, roger waters, metallica, the who, judas priest, and the majority of those were back in the 80's...i was pretty lucky to grow up with great music, now the big name's in live shows are all the old bands doin a reunion tour....also saw robert plante and jimmy page together twice...
i don't care wath people say.... for me, ian gillan is better as singer, than richie blackmore as guitarist, for that reason, ian is the best in deep purple
There's only one thing that sounds like a Hammond screaming through a Leslie, only one thing that nails THAT sound: a REAL Hammond/Leslie. Jon Lord rules.
Must have been a pretty lame concert! I have seen them go Fuckin' CRAZY! The have made far better live performances, than this one. BUT, they're STILL one the GREATEST ROCK BANDS EVER!!
sorry spike ( what a cool name by the way) you have to appreciate the music for what it is-not how it's labeled. This ain't metal...just a great tune from a band that has lasted 40 freakin' years! Truly an iconic band in rock n roll!!!!
Ian Paice is one of the greatest drummers ever. And DP isn't DP without Ian Gillan singing. And I don't even want to get started about Blackmore's mastery of the guitar. Let's just say they're good.
Saw them on both Tours Perfect Strangers(84) and House of Blue Light(87) had 5th row for the second one! in Chicago I remember Roger Glover and Ritchie Blackmore swapping guitars for "Smoke on the Water" long live DP! ..I also saw Gillian with Black Sabbath(83) it ROCKED!!!
I've been to many.many concerts over the years but this Perfect Stranger tour show back in the 80's always remains in my top 3 favorite concerts ever. Believe I saw it at the Cow Palace in SF or was it Oakland Coliseum....my brain was a bit fried in those days..but I'll never forget the show.

I do remember it was great in Houston Tx. than in 1985 with same laser beams , inside Summit was one huge cloud of smoke . Now Lakewood Church got the arena .
I saw this tour twice in 1985. I saw the USA opening event at Reunion Arena, Dallas, TX. And Deep Purple closed that tour by being the headliner for the Texas Jam August 25, 1985. I was 16 years old and still had a very full head of hair. I'm happy they are still touring and will have to look for them if they make it over to the US again...
Fuck no you ain't stupid-This is excellent!!!! Sorry you missed this when you were young. This came out my freshmen year in college. Oh I remember drinking PBR, playing frisbe and grilling steaks (my roomie had a Dr. for a dad). Great time, great music. Shit, they don't make it like this anymore!

How did I miss out on this song as a teen? Of course I remember Hush, Smoke on the Water and My Woman From Tokyo, but I can't believe that I missed this beautiful song!!! Awesome performance by everyone!!! But of course Ian Gillan's incredible vocals and Master Blackmore's genius are standouts. Perfect!!!

at 2:34 is the reason why i will listen to Rock until the day I die...look how Jon Lord plays his Hammond, enjoying and feeling the song deep in his veins... that is real music!! made with heart...
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow A strand of silver hanging through the sky Touching more than you see The voice of ages in your mind Is aching with the dead of the night Precious life (your tears are lost in falling rain) And if you hear me talking on the wind You've got to understand We must remain
ritchie blackmore is the greatest lead guitarist the world has ever known. Deep purple's evergreen music will withstand the test of time. Legacy of Deep Purple is unstoppable.

Can you remember remember my name
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
And cold spirits of ice
All my life
I am the echo of your past

I am returning the echo of a point in time
Distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
And laughing as the spirits appear
All your life
Shadows of another day
And if you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect Strangers
