bubble gum pop music inspired alot of bands. The Sex pistols were inspired by the Bay City Rollers. This band pays homage to, The 1910 Fruitgum co." People laugh at that music but it is timeless, good shit.
It's a blast to see a band covering this with a modicum of respect, just enjoying it as a good pop song and passing that joy along to the listener/viewer with a full-throated electric guitar arrangement. Right on TFC.
This song was given away free in either the NME or Melody Maker, in the early/mid 90's. It was a compilation tape with loads of other bands on it but this was the only song that was any good. Unfortunately the tape broke & I was left without my 3 minutes of joy.
I loved this song when I was a silly child. And now, about half a century later, I love it as a silly adult. Doesn't matter to me who performs it, this song is so much fun to listen to and makes me feel so good. Anyway, The Teenage Fanclub or The Fannies did a fantastic job with one of my favorite songs ever. Thanks!
tão novos que eles estavam, merdo!

To ease your pain, do you want the mp3, or have you got it anyway?

No I haven't. Have you got it then, where did you get it from?

I've got that tape too. It also had Oasis doing the demo version of Cigarettes and Alcohol on it. Can't recall what else there was though.
Really must see if I still have it. I tend not to throw things like that out, so there's a goodly chance :o)

Covering a silly childish song with the chorus saying "Goody Goody Gumdrops" can explain the reason why I love The Fannies.
