First time i've seen this boss, i've beat it at level 40. It took me a whole night and 9 years later...my brain is still not healed from this. I was too pumped up to beat him that i didnt level up my team. now he's easier, but damn, this boss is something!

@guthixpwnz You don't find other chocobos, because your chocobo is suppose to upgrade all the way from yellow to gold. by that time your chocobo can fly. you can achieve by finding all the treasures and using dead pepper as i remember it.
Vivi with that counter spell casting thing also works. That's how I won. Ozma casts that darkness spell that didn't hurt me due to my immunity to darkness attacks but hurt himself. Then Vivi cast it. Didn't hurt me, killed him.
Still, getting those few 9999 hits is tricky, the bitch uses status ailments and healing, the two most deadly traits of any FF monster.
i hate this boss it the easyest one for at hidden optional boss well it the hardest in this fantasy but they could of gave him more health and made im more tricker compared to ff8 omage weapon with 1,100,000 and can be only be defeated by useing hero or 255 vit but in the other hand Ozma has only around 120,000 hp only take 13 hit with 9999 damage so this is a rip off battle and and there no trick to bet him for Ozmo u just have to get your lv to 60 or over and he fall in 3 min 9999damge 13 hits
@RaiphXII if i'm not wrong, it's supposedly a whole living planet with an active will of its own. so if you think about it in this sense, it's no wonder it's the hardest boss ever.
@RaiphXII it's hard to concoct a planet out of the blue that looks nothing like what we already know of. the producers most likely wanted to give it a one-of-a-kind, flamboyant sci-fi look, befitting of a final fantasy world. i agree it looks distorted though, its design seems a little bit too impromptu to me. could be improved.
@lekalolalex climehazzard comes with the excalibur 1...which you can get from talking to an old man in deguerro about some magical fingertips, then go to the aution house in treno and buy the magical fingertips(make sure u have alotta gil because it's gonna take a while to show up nd u gotta buy the other key items first), take the magical fingertips to the old man in deguerro nd he'll give you the excalibur in return

@MattAlchemy dude im pretty sure thats a hacked save file for 2 reasons 1 im pretty sure i have that save file and 2 because you suck at playing this and just wouldent have everything in the game unless you either used a walkthrough from the start of the game or used some1 elses save file! @MattAlchemy He said Save File, not video. And you can learn Climhazzard from Excalibur, the sword you get for giving Magical Fingertip to the old man in Daguerro. I'm fairly certain you can get it from another sword as well.
Also, Ozma can make look any player look bad. Unless you've looked at his attack pattern and attacks before you fight him, it's likely that he'll kill you the first 3 times you fight him.
@BlitzAce987 you gotta find chocobo's air garden..which can be a bit pesky cause it never stays in one spot...the best thing to do is find it once, then go there nd leave..that way it'll show up on ur map

Return Magic makes light work of him if you use a Shadow-Absorbing setup. There's a little luck involved - Curse + Meteor ain't fun - but aside from that, he's really not *that* bad.
the only way to effect ozma with any element is to do the friendly monster side quest i believe idk if you can still do the quest on disc 4 i think you can dependent on your progress in it.
It prolly did... you have to do a certain side quest to be able to him it with dark element other wise it'll just absorb it... as well as any other element...
as most people found this one of the most difficult optional bosses in Final Fantasy i certainly was not immune to how powerful he was i only won thanks to steiner using Shock since he was my last surviving character i thought i would go down trying and that i did. although i learnt from summoning Ark to never ever do it again lol over 8K healed him =)
agreed... this werent all that difficult for me even with the long range disadvatage... personally im gonna have to opt for FFViii's omega weapon as hardest optional boss even though i eventually beat it (without holy wars)... when i used to see 'terra break' at the top of the screen i used to just rest my ps1 there and then lol... back in the day
lol its good 2 c that i werent the only 1 that struggled...
But even thought there were times when i used 2 piss me off... omega weapon (FFViii version ) is one of those optional boss battles that once you understand and get the hang of facing, you can really get into n enjoy a long challeging battle and expericence the true beauty of an 'authentic Final Fantasy opional boss battle'.
with ozma however either it dies in a few moves or you die in a few moves... i just didnt get that thrill
another interesting way to beat this boss is have everyone that can absorb shadow damage that way when he uses doomsday your whole party will be healed instead of damaged.
interesting way of beating ozma, just for a pointer or tip add auto reflect to any character, have the ability for vivi(reflect status X2) and cast flare on that character max damage, dagger was only good for healing and should have been in the kitchen

Bosses like this made Final Fantasy 9 at least something you'd want to remember. I can't say VIII was any good, this one however, I played all the way through to the end. Good game, and this was my favorite boss.
I beat Ozma in a totally different way, I had Quina use MP Hammer and Freya also used some skill to drain his MP, then I slowly killed him with Freya and Quina. I couldn't hit him with regular attacks so instead of 6 minutes it took maybe 1 hour for me to beat him. Great job!
Vivi and Dagger are a great pair. Cast ReflectX2 on Dagger and let Vivi unleash all his top spells, i was hitting 7k+. Only problem was I lost part of the Mognet quest somewhere along the line and never had him lowered to melee range.
woah you guys r so lucky u can even get to the sky garden. all my people are on lvl 97 and garnet is on lvl 99 but i cant find the sky garden. ive gotten the golden chocobo and all the chocographs an pretty much finished the game 99% but i cant find and beat ozma. i even have only 3 cards missing but i cant fu****g find the sky garden. plz help me.:{
I didn't think that this boss was ridiculously tough as I beat him on my first try (of course I was using a strategy guide), but I agree, he was pretty damn hard. I think I had a tougher time with some of the bosses in the Star Ocean series of games.
This was indeed the most frustrating and annoying boss in FF series. Suure, there's some bosses in other FF that has way more HP like Ruby, Emerald, Yiazmat etc.
True ! However, in those FF, overpowering your character is possible, which makes a fair fight with the boss (or unfair for the boss). In this Final Fantasy, there's barely any way to be overpowered, if ANY ! So you have to pray it doesn't screw you up before you beat it.
So by far the hardest yes, even if not the longest to kill.
um dude, wtf did you have equipped to zidane, his auto-regen was going so fast, even when i equipped all the fastest equipment and auto-haste it wouldn't regen that fast.

ok sure it has the least HP and what not BUT u also ahve by far the weakest cahrecters in this game in all the others its very possible to get stupidly highstats due to sphere grids, junctions or materia
in 9 u hve set limits to how strong your charecters will grow, this battle accutaly requires the skill of the player as well as high lvls
Hmm what about Omega in FFXII? Not only is it extremely difficult to navigate thru the Greater Crystal and find all the gateways in the time alotted, but the boss himself has 10 million life, has very strong, defense-piercing, fast attacks. Not to mention that reverse is the only real best bet, and if you lose the focus of the fight and retreat, the damn thing starts regenerating HP after one minute. Then again, we all have our experiences and opinions, i'm just casting out mine! :)
As for which one is harder, it depends on what you look at.
If you look at endurance, Omega is definitively harder as it takes large chunks of HP from your party while having an insane amount of HP itself. Fortunately, a few number of strategies works against it !
Ozma rapes any boss at win/lose ratio since it's totally RANDOM ! Despite the lvl/equip/strategy you use, if he decides to cast nasty spells on you, you're toast... which would make him hardest.
I didn't have much problem with Omega Mark 12 when I actually fought him. Reverse plays a vital role in that fight, that's for sure. I think the thing that pissed me off the most was the difficulty of actually getting to him through all those damn zodiac gates. Holy crap that was a pain in the ass.
Yiazmat isn't difficult. He just takes a long time to die. Other than that, it's nothing but Decoy, Reverse, Berserk on your damage dealers, rinse and repeat.
Starting with the yellow, get chocograps from Chocobo's Forest. Find the treasure from those graphs to get a blue, then there's more graphs to get red, to blue, to gold (also going into Chocobo's Lagoon somewhere on the small clumps of islands southeast of your map)
Its all down to luck. The best people to use are Steiner, Eiko, Freya and of course Zidane. I equip them all with armour which absorbs shadow, and hope for the best. I just waited until Steiner and Zidane were tranced and Ozma didnt use curaga.

Hmm what about Omega in FFXII? Not only is it extremely difficult to navigate thru the Greater Crystal and find all the gateways in the time alotted, but the boss himself has 10 million life, has very strong, defense-piercing, fast attacks. Not to mention that reverse is the only real best bet, and if you lose the focus of the fight and retreat, the damn thing starts regenerating HP after one minute. Then again, we all have our experiences and opinions, i'm just casting out mine! :)

As for which one is harder, it depends on what you look at.
If you look at endurance, Omega is definitively harder as it takes large chunks of HP from your party while having an insane amount of HP itself. Fortunately, a few number of strategies works against it !
Ozma rapes any boss at win/lose ratio since it's totally RANDOM ! Despite the lvl/equip/strategy you use, if he decides to cast nasty spells on you, you're toast... which would make him hardest.

I didn't have much problem with Omega Mark 12 when I actually fought him. Reverse plays a vital role in that fight, that's for sure. I think the thing that pissed me off the most was the difficulty of actually getting to him through all those damn zodiac gates. Holy crap that was a pain in the ass.

To be honest I'm not quite sure who i think is the hardest but how can you say its omega from ff8 when you can beat it in one hit with the end??

Yiazmat isn't difficult. He just takes a long time to die. Other than that, it's nothing but Decoy, Reverse, Berserk on your damage dealers, rinse and repeat.

Omega of FFVIII is simple once you know its attack pattern :/ that's why I like Ozma, it has no attack pattern, it's completely random.

Starting with the yellow, get chocograps from Chocobo's Forest. Find the treasure from those graphs to get a blue, then there's more graphs to get red, to blue, to gold (also going into Chocobo's Lagoon somewhere on the small clumps of islands southeast of your map)

Its all down to luck. The best people to use are Steiner, Eiko, Freya and of course Zidane. I equip them all with armour which absorbs shadow, and hope for the best. I just waited until Steiner and Zidane were tranced and Ozma didnt use curaga.
