Aberdeen isn't so bad... lots of nice architecture and history, European capital of oil & gas etc, an Ancient University, a not so Ancient University, plenty of work, lots of public spaces all well kept - parks etc, relatively low crime in the centre.
Bad parts are the weather , the traffic which cripples the city every morning and evening, the cost of housing, the cost of council tax, the thousands of junkies and general scum causing trouble and the corruption in the local government.
