I never thought this was among Paxton's best, but your version sells the idea to me. Nicely done. Just heard the Subway verse today, and it takes it a whole other place. Thanks for letting us see your chords. Simple but works. I'm looking for how Tom did that Tag Lick on his Epic Records version, which I haven't figured out in 45 years. Some sort of hammer on or slide.
Thanks for replying, yup that makes sense indeed Have added your vid. to my facebook, so more people will see it. now off to try this song in my conservatory lol cheers
thank you so much for listening - makes the effort all worthwhile. I use a very simple pattern, just my thumb and first two fingers. I alternate the thumb on the fifth and sixth bass strings, and pick the middle and top strings with the fingers to try and pick out a part fo the tune or to add interest. It's called the 'alternating' pattern because you miss out on one of the thumb down strokes to give a gap in the rhythm - hope that makes sense -
@eddields - I quite enjoy your playing and thanks for the finger picking description - I've been trying to sort that out for a while now after playing a simple strum version of it for some time.
...and really pretty vocals, resembles Tom quite a lot, a shame you havent got more comments in a whole year. On the down side, I'd like to have more eye contact with the camera.
and thank you once again - I guess you just keep plugging away and hope people listen - and I think I have a face for radio hence the lack of full face photography LOL!!
yep - I bought the mics from the states thro' ebay - and my conservatory really beefs up the acoustics - appreciate you taking the time to leave a positive comment
thanks for such a nice comment - I appreciate it - I will check out the version and see if I can work out the lick for ya
