The sad thing is he will not be able to mate and know what it is like to be a real bear in the wild. He won't be able to fight for territory or a mate. If you put him into the wild as he is now, he would possibly be killed.

@Xaltus I think that if his caretaker were to pass away before the bear does, no one would know what to do with the bear as there is obviously an emotional and trusted bond formed over many many years between the two. Introducing another applicable caretaker would be too risky for the caretaker. So what options would they have? Either release him to the wild, put him in a zoo or private captivity, or lynch him.

It's really neat and all. But the guy who cares for the bear, Casey, has to remember that Grizzly Bears are not domesticated animals. Deep inside that bear lies the foundations of instincts, one wrong mistake could set that bear off to either critically injure or kill someone. This guy seems to not understand this by his naive way of viewing a 'tear'. Remind you tears as an emotional state is exclusive to human beings. Tears in general are for lubrication of the eyes in the animal kingdom.

Difference is, is that dog's have been domesticated over a period of 10,000-14,000 years. You do understand what domestication means right? The slow process of breeding favorable traits over numbers of generations. Dogs are predictable, we bred them over time to be a human pet, this bear however isn't the product of tens-hundreds of generations of trait bred bears. It's a wild bear under captivity.
