Does anyone have an experience with deleting edges but keeping the textures on the face. I had to create one wall of a room using three different faces and three different faces. I don't want to have the edges but when I erase them, the texture is also deleted.
If anyone can help with this - Please respond as soon as possible. (it is thursday, march 12).

I just tested the site on a Windows machine with Firefox, and things seem to work fine. To watch the videos, you need to have a Quicktime plugin -- maybe that's not working on your system.
At timestamp :35 what did you press to get that tiny box to show up so that the line would be at the right length to close the loop at 90 degree angles.
I didn't actually press anything to get that "inference" to show up -- it appeared automatically when I moved the cursor into the proper position. If it hadn't shown up, though, I could have "encouraged" it. Check out "Keeping an eye out for inferences" and "Using inferences to help you model" (a couple of other videos from Chapter 2) for more information. Good luck!
Great videos. I have a question further than how to put it together. Can I import my floorplans and trace over them for accuracy? How do I paste the elevations on the extruded floorplan for accuracy. A friend (client) imports the elevations, traces over them and then push/pulls them to the correct dimensions. I am a dummy and cannot figure it all out. Any input is appreciated.
You should check out episode #20 of "The SketchUp Show" podcast, which is produced by School. I can't put a URL here, unfortunately, but a Google search ought to turn up the right thing... Good luck, Aidan
Proving I'm a dummy; on page 28 of the book, in the "ON THE WEB" instruction, there is reference to "Color Plate 1" Is the opening frame of the video intended to be this "Plate" or is there some other graphic that is, or should be, available?

maybe you can use the tool (ERASE + CTRL), you erase (hide) the edge, and you keep the texture or image

Hay tinmanic -- great video -- what program did you use to make the video?
ruagatto2 3 years ago
Starting with Sketchup 7 though, you can cross lines on a face and they will split the face, correct?
citynode 3 years ago
Correct. I just tried it in Sketchup 7 and it does split the face if you cross lines.

Absolutely one of the better instruction videos. Thanks for a great job!

Your tutorials are great!
And you're right to leave the "mistakes" into the video, i think that really helps. I think i'm going to see all of your tutorials.

Great Job. I am watching all your tuts for sketch up because I really find it interesting.
Thanks A Lot. Videos like this are much easier to understand than reading it without much visual representation.

Aiden,
You mention the The Sketchup Show podcast - Is this only available for Mac users?
I have found the school site but I am unable to do anything with it.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The color plates are in the center of the book, marked for ID by chapter number first.
