That's what bugs me. I hate feeling this way. I don't like being alone. I don't like being without a girlfriend. But it's not easy going out there and trying to find one and I don't know what to do anymore. I've been out of the dating game so long, I don't know what to do anymore. It hurts.

I think this is why I don't even feel bad about spending waaaay to many hours watching bleach. Its all about friendship and loyalty and duty. Atributes that are seriously undervalued in todays society.
Also I am so thankfull that I am no longer a teenager. This stuff seems much less important in your 20's than it did in your teens. At least to me it does.

My school does this thing where we can send roses to each other, and at first I was really upset with the idea because there was no one to send me roses and no one for me to send roses to... and then I remembered that I have friends, and at least three of them are sending me roses and I sent out four myself to me friends. Friends make Valentine's day, not the "love of your life"
Guess who loves you!?!?!?!? Invisisis and I sent you a box full of fun and yummy items. Some are fun and some are yummy, but then again isn't yummy always fun? I say do something for or with anyone you love. Or do something for someone who deserves to be loved. Doing some randomly nice things on V-Day would make it pretty rewarding. One year Invisisis and her Brownie troop made Valentines and brought Valentines and candy to people at a nursing home. The residents got a big kick out of it!
Implanting a idea such as Valentines day is the work of Hallmark. But I think it is also good to be able to set out one day a year to devote ourselfs to the closet of close loved ones. This doesn't mean one of romanticism, as it can be anyone you feel close too.

Well of course I have friends and family I love but when you go to the store all the valentine stuff says things like be min and so when I see that I think of my boyfriend not my best friend or brother
I do think most people are looking to meet this magical person that turns their heart to goo and changes their life. That's clearly not what happens most of the time and is a fantastical way to view the complexity of human relationships.
But that doesn't mean that there ISN'T something special about sharing your love with another person. I think there is. Doesn't mean you should or have to have it! or it will make you happy and complete your life.
I think people don't necessarily feel alone because they think being romantically involved with someone is the ONLY type of meaningful relationship but because it can fulfil you in a different way then say hanging out with family (who have to love you but don't always like you) or friends (who will usually ditch on you if they found a date for Valentines) or even the robots who raised you in your testtube!
Even the best romantic relationships based on mutual attraction are usually biologically programmed to last only about three years for reproduction purposes.
So the fire seemed close to your hand and made me a bit nervous. I would also like to compare this video to a "quick fix" for all those addicted to Sister Salad. Good/Strong thoughts in the video.
Thanks! Were there any mass bonfires of Looking for Alaska amidst the various controversies? Because if the display on book censorship I once saw at my local public library is any indication, getting on the list of authors whose books have at one point been tossed onto the pyre actually aligns you with some pretty cool people.
This was my first foray into book-burning, and I must say it was a far more scary and perilous process than I had anticipated: turns out, those things are made of paper!
Its getting harder and harder to resist the temptation to leave incoherent fanboy comments with every sistersalad video.
My personal suggestion, which Ido myself, is to participate and enjoy it - you have people, some of these people are not romantically involved and may not get any gifts. So give them gifts!
This actually reminds me of the critique on the Twilight books wherein you pointed out that the female character seems to do nothing but pine when separated from her love.
I remember when my first relationship ended, I felt like I just had to get into a new one or else I'd continue to feel incomplete. It took time and some wisdom from close friends to make me realize the foolishness of that.
Happiness with yourself first will equal happiness with someone else (if you so choose) later.
The maniacal grinning and laughing during the flaming destruction is especially full of win. The video makes a strong point...it's hard to convince oneself of it sometimes, but eventually we all come to realize this particular epiphany.

I have an incredible husband , two fabulous children, 3 amazing sister (2 brothers who aren't half bad), my mother and father and a few great friends but when I listen to the negative tapes that play in my head and pity myself, I do feel alone. I do think most people are looking to meet this magical person that turns their heart to goo and changes their life. That's clearly not what happens most of the time and is a fantastical way to view the complexity of human relationships.
But that doesn't mean that there ISN'T something special about sharing your love with another person. I think there is. Doesn't mean you should or have to have it! or it will make you happy and complete your life.

I think people don't necessarily feel alone because they think being romantically involved with someone is the ONLY type of meaningful relationship but because it can fulfil you in a different way then say hanging out with family (who have to love you but don't always like you) or friends (who will usually ditch on you if they found a date for Valentines) or even the robots who raised you in your testtube!

Yeah I definitely agree! That's what I keep telling all my friends who feel so "alone." Usually it goes like this:
Me: Hey, what am I? Don't you love me?
Them: Ummm... no, you're the girl who creeped upon me on Facebook.

And then I typically proceed to murder them.

Thanks! Were there any mass bonfires of Looking for Alaska amidst the various controversies? Because if the display on book censorship I once saw at my local public library is any indication, getting on the list of authors whose books have at one point been tossed onto the pyre actually aligns you with some pretty cool people.
This was my first foray into book-burning, and I must say it was a far more scary and perilous process than I had anticipated: turns out, those things are made of paper!

Its getting harder and harder to resist the temptation to leave incoherent fanboy comments with every sistersalad video.
My personal suggestion, which Ido myself, is to participate and enjoy it - you have people, some of these people are not romantically involved and may not get any gifts. So give them gifts!

This actually reminds me of the critique on the Twilight books wherein you pointed out that the female character seems to do nothing but pine when separated from her love.
I remember when my first relationship ended, I felt like I just had to get into a new one or else I'd continue to feel incomplete. It took time and some wisdom from close friends to make me realize the foolishness of that.
Happiness with yourself first will equal happiness with someone else (if you so choose) later.

So true. The aloneness we feel cannot be cured by a having a man either. I have an incredible husband , two fabulous children, 3 amazing sister (2 brothers who aren't half bad), my mother and father and a few great friends but when I listen to the negative tapes that play in my head and pity myself, I do feel alone. And you're right it is simply not true. I need to remember all that I do have instead of focusing on what I don't. THANKS!!!!!!

i agree. v day is really just a way to make us spend money if you want to have a romantic evening it shouldnt have to be in feb. in my opinion bs holidays should be removed from the calender when the economy is bad!
