  • Those things are geared to be at redline at the finish line. I think the engine blew a little after the line as you can see in the vid. all that oil probably occupied his attention just before he broke the sound barrier.

  • @24preacherboy They're actually at redline from launch, centrifugal clutch is used to regulate the tpower to the ground. The explosion was either due to A) leaning out from fuel tank emptying, B) hydraulic lock, or C) overheating, since they have no liquid coolant or radiators of any kind.

  • ya of course the good part had to happen behind the sign.

asshole!! next time crash in front of the camera

    lol

  • dude imagine how loud it is for the dude in the car...

  • wonder if he broke the 600kph barrier?

    no disrespect

  • thats one fast toyota lol

  • omfg not nice

  • must be toyota.....

  • a stuck throttle in a top fuel car??? scary!

  • did you know that that is the car Don Garlits made his 4sec 300+MPH run in?

  • @Wambonater Don't believe so. That was a Gary Clapshaw car in the video.

  • @Merlinbird yeah they repainted it because Garlit's car wasn't ready for indy

  • fuck that sign

  • Have you thought about installing an ejector seat?

  • @madeupname37 That would kinda kill them more since the spoiler might just hit hit it -.-

  • @Heavy645 its not a spoiler... its a wing. it produces houndreds of pounds of downforce to keep the car on the ground

  • @bekeene I know... I just love calling it a spoiler. I'm used to it.

  • Prsjoe, i crew on pom's top fueler and he engine didnt blow( one of the o-rings in the fuel line jamed open and we were at full noise of more than 10 second before the engline leaned out like normal there was not damage to the block so the whole bottom end of the car was relativity un scaved and yes he was very forunate to walk away from the accident

  • He was probably going 350 mph before the engine blew . There must have been no fuel left in the tank when he crashed . A stuck throttle is as close to a death sentence as your going to get . He is very fortunate to walk away from this accident .

  • ooww man did he make out of this alive! this is scary stuff

  • mate u think it is good standing at the line or in the crowd i am on the team with pom and i was standing behind it and mate i shit my self and when i saw the candals not going out we just knew that something was wrong

  • i would hate to know wat is like, he has always been my favourite driver and when i saw this i was just in fear.

  • There is absolutely nothing, and i repeat NOTHING like seeing a Top Fuel dragster go by in person. When the dragster is sitting at the line you can feel it all the way up your spine...and when it takes off.......

  • He absolutly recked the chassis on that thing !!! that would be the most scariest thing not being able to stop ... the sandtrap didnt even stop him, he hit he tyre barrier and kept goin through the fence ... then finally stopped lol but fortunately he is alright except fot that pinky lol my dad is best mates with him and i cant wait to see him back racin again !

  • scary stufff ,,,

  • I hate it when my throttle jams!!

  • Whats happened to bugsie55 videos. Did the nhra shut him down?

  • I've watched this a dozen times over the past few months. Those header flames alive and well way past the finish line sends a chill down my spine every time I watch it.

  • WOW!!

  • Whoa i was there!!! I will be uploading some videos i took of the bandag and other drags soon.

  • he got a fractured pinky finger and that was it.

When driving these things there is a lot to do. Firstly you obviously have to keep it straight, which can sometimes be harder than it looks. also, there is a "groove" in the track where the rubber is best, which you have to keep the car in to get the best traction, if you drift out of it the car is pulled towards the wall/centre line. Also, it takes a lot to tune these cars to even run a number, so it takes a lot of skill to tune them right

  • It also takes large cajones just to step into one. I salute anyone brave enough to do it

  • It sucks when that happens.

  • freaky vid mate.

we were down in brett stevens pits at the time.

    thank god steve's ok
