I like to think that the crosses and souls in BN4-6 are a throwback to the original series, but I prefer crosses to souls, though, since they are usable for a much longer time than souls (getting hit by weakness is the most common way of getting knocked out of the cross).

@OkSka It wouldn't work, Navis can only enter anything with a jack-in port, this means that any technology that existed before jack-in ports were implemented can't be jacked in to.

Recently bought this game (again) and got to this place. I forgot this theme, but I instantly fell in love with it. Quickman's level will always be my favorite from this game, though; easily among my top 10 Megaman songs.

@ArgorokKing Most of the Net Navis look very weird when compared to their original counterparts. This goes for most of the EXE version Robots. Though I kind of prefer the original Swordman personally.

Yeah, I actually enjoy some of the EXE versions more, an example of where I like the Navi version more would be Plant Man, an example one I like the original more would be Pharaoh Man.
