But Toyota trucks and Dodge trucks, etc. that are 4x4, SAY 4x4. There is a HUGE difference both mechanically and in performance and cability.

BUT they arent 4x4 because they doesnt have transmisions with reductor gear box.... 4x4 its aplicable only for off road cars.... get yourself into the subaru page and read, you will see that its an all wheel drive car...
4x4 simply means that there are 4 wheels and 4 driven wheels.
As long as the vehicle has 4 wheels that are all receiving power independently it is a 4x4. The Subaru Impreza has that. At least many of them do anyways..i think there are also many 4x2 versions.
